Don't both engravings give more in the long run? Since they lower heat generation. (Edit:nvm tested if holy lol)

That's cool but what exactly is the point of overheat now? Wasn't it added to prevent facecamping? While now it punishes traversing the map. Kinda weird ngl.

They just i feel basically acknowledge its a dumb mechanic in every way so they wanna make it "a non factor" because reverting the mechanic i guess is hard. And honestly even the map traversal part isnt that effective since it normally fully cools by the time im ready to saw again. (Especially with cooldown and bigger heat limit addons or engravings) so the mechanics...dead. Good.
Also side note if you wanted to camp back then and still now theres better options then billy. (Bubba wearing his crown) so as a anti camp mechanic its fairly bad as well.

I didn't test it yet, but Punctured Muffler only increases the heat degeneration while not using the Chainsaw, so it doesn't do anything on revving.
But you're right, Engravings reduce heat generation. So let's try Air Filter + Doom Engravings 😅

Yeah idk which would be better air filter or yellow Engraving lowering chainsaw heat gained. (So in this case double engravings vs air filter doom engraving) but with the 2 you mentioned air filter and punctured muffler i feel you get pretty close to old base billy since no engravings to slow down your saw. And overheat has a bigger limit and quicker cool. So its probably my favorite fn. Because i loved old billy. If they make the saw not destroy my ears i would find it perfect for now since i don't see his animations or anything else being fixed anytime soon.

They're both also pretty cheap so you could run those every match. I am not one to rely on Add-ons, I use them but only if I know that a base power is strong enough.
As for Billy, I don't think his base stats are good enough, but that might be from a curving perspective. For zoning, his Chainsaw became siginificantly better to use.

Yeah not all billys obviously can do the curve. Old billy base was nice because even without knowing how to curve his zone and mobility were good for the time. Probably aged now but hell im on a nostalgia trip with just zoning a survivor with a revved saw lol. I zoom, find a survivor, get menacingly closer with a long revved saw. Down, hook, and repeat.
