Is file manipulation okay with you?

I see videos on YouTuber Professor Hens channel showing other players how to manipulate their files to "unlock fps". Should this be allowed? Because this hurts the vanilla players tremendously, I don't really know if you guys ever faced a player with these "configs" but it's an absolute nightmare. I may have an unpopular opinion since this community most of time glorified cheating (stretch resolution, filters) and would say it's a "small" advantage or it's for "pleasant play".

But honestly as a vanilla player on PC/Xbox, I'm getting pretty fed up playing against this for years. Hopefully you reply to this, I'm speaking for all vanilla players here, the ones who play fair as fair and love your amazing game. I really hope that changing settings while not in-game is considered cheating, especially for a live service title where most of the player base cannot access these "configs".

as someone who has always had crap laptops/pcs, having 60 fps feels like owning the best computer in the world lmao.

I dont really see how 120 fps helps in a game like dbd, its not a competitive shooter where every frame possible counts. And considering how the devs dont have an option to change frame limits in settings, do they really want players to have a possible advantage of having more frames?

More FPS doesn't give anyone an advantage in DbD. What it does do is let the game run visually smoother at the cost of a little extra GPU usage. I've been playing DBD in 120fps for months. Can't go back to 60 now. Makes my eyes bleed.

Most of these these settings found in the files should just be settings that can be interacted with in the game itself like most other games out there. This includes things like FPS, higher resolution qualities, anti aliasing options, fov sliders, ray tracing options, etc. DBD currently has the most bare bones settings options I've ever seen in a game.

I didn't buy a gaming PC just to be locked to 60 FPS.

When games lock their frame rate to 60 I simply don't play them. Frankly I wish it were possible to increase the FPS up to 240.

setting the cap for your fps is something that should be in the base game settings so yes im fine with it. If it bothers you that much you can simply turn crossplay off

If it means a user can use their expensive hardware to get a more smooth experience, its fine with me.

But the question of a competitive advantage could easily be a thing, in a game where you only need a faint whiff of the Killer's red stain to save your life or loop for more seconds it seems strange to argue it cannot help or does not help.

Its funny how stretched resolution was a huge discussion for a year, but FPS, nah mate its impossible and "if it bothers you that much you can simply turn crossplay off" lmao If it can give an advantage in FirstPersonShooters then there easily also is an advantage here too.

I know people want to keep their fps, but at least be more honest and open about the Question of Advantage.

My frames were capped to 30. Have you played a game with 30 FPS?

My PC isn't the best, but it's not a potato.

I don't know why it was capped at 30, but the game settings don't allow you to change FPS.

Not only that, but VSync is also On by default, and a lot of players don't want that. It also doesn't help the fact that my monitor is not 30 Hz to justify the FPS cap.

I had to uncap, so the game is playable.
