Game Afoot + Rancor = no
I had a match with some twins and they was very very bad at chasing. Much of the time they ignored me or will target my weaker team mates, eventually they got tunnely and would go for my team mates cause I can see they was not good at looping. I did got to force her to chase me since I got 0 hook and ofc wasted her time popping all the gens, now I was not the obsession this whole time, and did not know that this game afoot perk makes you the obsession after she m1s. Ok cool that is no problem. However what was lame as heck is just as I get down as the last gen pop unknown to me she also had rancor and I got moried which ofc is stupidly unfair as I would not know she had rancor the whole time since I originally was not the obsession.
Ok cool its fine I died , but what shock me was that even though I died as the obsession she hits the meg who now becomes the obsession and then she took gets moried by rancor. Why is that a thing? I thought perks that has to do with the obsession no longer work if the obsession dies.
Killer gets 2 cheap undeserving moris? Please change that and do not allow game afoot to constantly change obsession or rancor should only work ONCE on one person not multiple. I do not know if this was an error on bvhr part cause I know that sometimes mistakes happen where perks combo with each other and was not meant to or if it was intentional. Either way that is totally not healthy at all for the game.

Generally speaking, if a perk stops having an effect after the obsession dies, that effect can be reinstated if a new obsession is created by any means.
Whether this specific combo is unhealthy or not is a valid question, but to address your question as to whether this combo a mistake by the devs: no, it’s intended. It was originally bugged on Skull Merchant’s PTB where Rancor’s Exposed effect could apply retroactively to any basic attack that caused Game Afoot to change the obsession (allowing one-hit downs on non-obsessions that shouldn’t have happened). That was fixed, but the synergy was knowingly left there, so it isn’t a mistake.
One other thing worth mentioning: Rancor can only apply to the current obsession at any given time. This didn’t help you in your case since you were already dead, but had you still been alive when Meg became the obsession, your Exposed status (and ability to be mori’d) would’ve been removed.

Boil over + No Mither = No
I get that, you recieve Game Afoot deactivating when gates are powered.

I used Rancor + Furtive chase, hooking Obsession leads to impossible trading.
I once against a facecamp Bubba with Rancor and Nemesis with Spirit fury and Enduring. At end game he ate my pallet on purpose and instant down me to Mori. Its the only 1 time I played against that.

I actually went against this perk combo on a SM. It was on the game, and I did notice that Obsessions were changing frequently, but thought nothing of it. She did really well, and we made it to end game where it really popped off. Got a 3k, and I wasn't mad about because I thought it was neat

Wouldn't day it's that bad. Not like the free kills that mediocre killers get running NOED

Sounds like a good perk synergy that they used to good effect against you. Were they really that bad at chasing or were they playing for an end game build?

Just wiggle boost.

A similar synergy already exists with Nemesis + Rancor, it's just a different activation mechanism.
At the very least if you're healthy, then you will get prior warning Rancor is in effect when you get hit for the first time after the gates are powered, similar to how landing a pallet stun will give you the warning Rancor is in play with Nemesis.

But it will still take two hit to down somone right?
You need to hit to translate the survivor become obsession, then the survivor will start to have exposed on them.

First time hearing about this. I guess once a big youtuber / streamer makes a video on this it'll become the new safety net that used to be NOED (except instead of an insta down you can mori immediately). Being moried after being downed once the entire game is absolutely frustrating, but on the other hand the killer gave up half their build for this and still needs to down ppl for it to work, so I can't imagine survivors liking this if it becomes popular, but also I can't imagine it being nerfed.

Alternatively were they smart enough to not focus on the best runner for too long?
On-topic, I once got two Rancor moris in a game courtesy Decisive Strike or Nemesis (I forget which)
