Should (or will) we get a DBD 2?

The game is almost 7 years old. At some point I would think the game gets sundowned.

I’d love to see a new and improved DBD 2 with better graphics, details, etc m.

Do you think it’ll ever happen or will we always have this version until it just dies?

They can upgrade and patch this versions engine and other things, no reason release new game. People like their cosmetics inventory and account level, character prestige etc, releasing a new game will be met with hate. But it can be like ow2, which basically is a big patch, why not.

A newer DBD would hopefully mean a better engine and optimization, which I'd be all for. As long as the devs find a way to make sure all of our accounts have everything that we own saved (e.g. cosmetics, dlcs, charms, cosmetics, etc.)

They can't, we will lose Stranger Things content forever, since they cant get another license, that's what happened with dbd mobile from netease, they coundn't renew Stranger Things, and was another version of dbd, they had to remove them from the game

We don't need a DBD 2. Games aren't all about fancy graphics you know. There is a reason we don't have Minecraft 2 or WoW2.

I would be happy to hear of a sequel but let's get some more chapters with some great killers that bring back the horror theme first...

    Should we? Yes.

    Are we getting it? No.

    Would it be worth it?

We'd lose all of the licensed chapters until the license holders agree to allow the new game to use them, if ever. Do you want another stranger things?

Most likely they'd reset all progression. Good-bye legacies, P100s, cosmetics, etc.

All for what? Some optimization and better graphics? Id rather stick with what we have.

A new game would give them a clean slate to build a new foundation on using the things have learning with this game. We'd get improvement for UI/UX, game balance, sound design, graphics, more design space for both survivor and killer etc. You'd get all the things that usually come with making a sequel to a game and it isn't as if the precedent for transferring, converting, or compensating for content in a previous game doesn't exist.

Of course, but some people have a hatred of change so if they ever announce it the forum will be a fire strom haha

Going to agree with the idea it will be this version until the game dies. I think that is years away.

There's no way they could release a new DbD while you still have active DbD players unless you transferred all of their cosmetics, prestige, etc. However there is two problems there. A new engine would require new cosmetic designs, which would cost money, and so they would expect to sell them again, but the player base wouldn't accept it (mostly reasonable on both sides). Secondly, it presumes that cosmetics, prestige, etc work in a similar manner to the current game.

    Plus all the license issues.

Additionally, the risk. They are making really good money with the current game, no need to risk rocking the boat.

Also, if they were going to do a DbD, I'd want more than graphic updates. I'd rather have a whole new game. Reimagine/redesign it from the ground up even if it looks completely different from current DbD.

I would love to see a game like DBD but better be made by a competent DEV team.

Not happening. Competing with this game is hard cause the game has 7 years of content and tons of licenses, so it has far more content than any competitor could offer. There's no incentive to make drastic changes like DBD 2.

If a similar assym game came out and was just straight up better and more fun, it would still need a progression system good enough to compete with DBD.

So there really is no need to invest resources into remaking the whole game from scratch, though I'm sure it would have been good for game health. But so would a game health chapter.

I hope they'll keep this version, but also upgrade to a Unreal Engine 5

Damn what's these sequel ideas? Same thing as it was for League of Legends.

While DbD doesn't have the fanciest graphics it still looks good in my opinion. Not only that, but it's optimizable so that even people on older computers can play it.

That's not going to happen. Think about it; how much money would they actually make with a DBD 2? Now compare that with the potential they still have in this game.

And players would lose everything and start from scratch again. That isn't the best advertisement to your new game.

It would be nice to see BHVR make some adjustments to the code though. Better optimization, more graphics options etc would be nice.

DBD2 would be a bad idea because BHVR can't replicate DBDs success, so there is no guarantee DBD2 would be any good. Those that are addicted to DBD may see the sequel as a good time to finally stop playing.

They can just pull a Overwatch 2. Sure, I'd witness war flashbacks from OW2's release, but I'm sure they couldn't mess it up that bad like Blizzard did.

No way lower end PC's or the consoles would be able to handle that with this game's iffy coding. That's the main benefit a sequel would bring, recoding the game from scratch. Prolly won't happen tho.
