BHVR’s doubling down on the Skull Merchant is remarkable

Not in a good way. I don’t hate her as much as most but the community consensus is clear. Very least that could be done is to replace her specific tome challenges.

Skull Merchant isnt even very strong, but survivors love to complain about everything.

Every killer must be the same, and has no powers, only allowed which can be taken away by survivors.

You forgot that they can't be anti-loop, because Survivors expect to loop every killer for a minimum of 5 minutes before needing to drop a pallet.

Why do you respect SM power so much?

    Why cant you loop her?

As far as I know she is an extremely weak m1 killer, plaything for survivors.

But for some reason her drones are very well respected, yet survivors has no issue going vs plague, with 1 health, or has no issue, against Legion with 1 health.

But ohhh SM is too much, i really dont get it.

She has no power, outside making you exposed, and seeing you.

M1 loop her, dont fear the exposed lol.

Do gens, but hey easier to say, remove her, make her Myers basekit without exposed.

    I really dont understand survivors

True. SM got on my nerves recently so I was in one of those moods regarding that character. I know full well no one in their right mind actually thinks SM is fine.

How exactly are they doubling down? They have told us before new releases get tomes quickly.

What exactly are you expecting OP? a new power? Extreme nerfs(bad news she can still 3 gen even with no power or perks)? Something else entirely?

m1 killer without any power, thats what the survivors want.

Truth be told they dont like her design, wanted a male robot, or a disfigured half robot, half human faced female monster.

Whats she can do that the Knight cant do better?

Yet Knight much more beloved lol.

Knight has an objectively better written lore, his design appeals to more people and his power has more personality to it with the guards

It's pretty telling when some people are claiming to be "good" SMs but they have to avoid playing the way she's clearly intended to be played and have to use purple addons 24/7 for their playstyle

That's why people like Knight more

No offense, but your hatred of SM is quite cliche in itself, just learn to play, there must be a killer you personally dislike because offends you in some way, learn to accept that you cant like everything.

SM wont be deleted, wont be reworked, just move on.

My hatred is a shared hatred by the community who knows how scummy SM players play the game, ignoring all the purpose of chase. Luckily after 3k hours I think ive learnt to play quite well in both roles, didn't learn how to break her forced 3 gens with solo queue team or even duo yet :)

I assume she will be reworked btw, if the mass dc and hook suicide against her will continue.

The devs should never balance around salty players who DC and give up, or said players will use that mechanic to force changes on every Killer they dislike.

DC and hook-DCs should be punished with bans. Not rewarded with changes. You don't give a tantruming toddler the lollipop they want, after all, or you're reinforcing the idea that a temper tantrum can get them what they want.

True, but games shouldnt extend to lengths or 20 minutes or above either just cause the player behind the screen decided to camp 3 gens from the start instead of chasing, cause he doesn't like to chase he liked to win only.

Whatever feelings about this newest chapter aside, there was one thing which strikes me as a poor business model regarding not just the Skull Merchant, but also the survivors:

Having the tome based solely on a new chapter struck me as odd because, in order to do the tasks, BHVR put all the new perks in the Shrine of Secrets early. So, since survivors are basically skins, people don't need to fork a lot of shards or money on the survivors, but instead just get the perks with shards. Same with the Skull Merchant - people who don't like her but maybe think her perks are worth it just go and get it there.

Sure you can buy everything with shards for the original chapter anyway. However, a lot of people do buy with money and now the playerbase understands this is the model BHVR want to carry on, people may just wait for the perks to appear om the Shrine, which they know will come soon because of the tomes. BHVR then may lose a decent bit of revenue.

This is a concerning business strategy to me. I'm hoping I'm missing something.

The reasoning of your posts doesn't make any sense.

You start by saying survivors just complain about everything.

Then you talk about looping, but the person you are responding too isn't discussing looping at all.

Then you say they actually dislike her because of her design.

Then you say Knight is more beloved, even though that disagrees with your survivors complain about everything.

As you say you don't understand survivors, let me explain:

Skull merchant is not fun to play against.

Can she be beaten? Yes. Is her 3 genning strong? Not particularly. Is it fun? No, it's a slow annoying battle of move in, retreat, move back in. Much better since the last patch, it no longer is going to eat up an hour, but still a drawn out mess.

Does every survivor have certain killers they dislike? Yes. However, that doesn't change the fact that far more survivors dislike skully than any other.

And yes, lots of people dislike her design. While I don't have a problem with that, nothing wrong with people saying that her design ruins the immersion of the game. Just because someone says they don't like something doesn't mean they are automatically talking balance.

The one thing you are right on is she's probably not going anywhere or getting any major changes, but that shouldn't stop people from voicing their dislike.
