Would An Amnesia Chapter Work in DBD?
Amnesia is a horror series I like quite a bit, and have an interest in seeing in DBD. Although I wonder if it would actually work in DBD. The main mechanic of most of the games and their enemies is based around sanity. The player loses sanity as they stay in the dark, gaze upon the enemies and see terrible things.
The problem here is we already have a killer that specializes in destroying survivor sanity: The Doctor. There's not exactly a whole lot else the enemies in Amnesia do besides drive you insane and hit you too, so I think this makes the idea of them making it in pretty unlikely.
Although there are a few repeat powers in DBD with slight differences (chainsaws, stalking, thrown weapons), that maybe insanity could be done again. Although I have a hard time thinking of a way to do it different than Doctor's. The first thing that comes to mind is survivors gain insanity by looking at it, like in the game, but that sounds like it would be a little too easy to avoid.

1. I do think there are ways that this could be done with having insanity about other areas (such as generators being fake, fake lockers, yellomg in lockers, etc). There's a lot of potential for it.
2. Now i don't think it will happen. I like Amnesia a lot but I don't think it's popular enough for BHVR to shell out for it

Well that depends on what amnesia game we're gonna adapt as a chapter because as far as i'm aware, only The Dark Descent has the insanity mechanic when looking at an enemy, which yes you can still make such a mechanic work in dbd.
Personally however, i'd much rather see Amnesia: Rebirth be the pick for an Amnesia Chapter.

I don't know the game, but seeing what you wrote - maybe a few skins on doctor would actually do the trick (think the same thing as attack on titan collab)?

I think there's only one game that doesn't use Insanity in some form, and that's A Machine For Pigs. Rebirth has the whole Fear mechanic, which is slightly different but essentially the same.

I was thinking about that possibilty, but I'm not sure I'm sold on this thing zapping people with electricity.

Yeah just checked, Rebirth does have the insanity feature when looking at enemy so in that regard, i stand corrected. With that said however, my statement still stands that you could still make it work in-game.
