Is setting a trap for survivors wrong?
Hi there, my main killer is the dredge. Just now i had a survivor in the lobby with a name like (but not the same, to avoid namecalling) "Boon:die in endgame", and i decided to change my usual build to an endgame build.
I used Insidious, noed, and blood warden (dont even know what the last one was), and then teleported to a locker near the exit. I can only guess that insidious works while sitting in a locker, however, just as planned when all gens were done one survivor (even the one with that name!) run to my locker, tried to lock it , and i grabbed them, and put them on a hook. The rest of the survivors swarmed the hook, and thanks to noed, they all went down. Endgame had already started, because the survivors had opened the gate.
then i hooked them all, and they all died in endgame. To me, it was really funny seeing how that worked. OF course, the survivors weren´t amused. While 2 were obviously salty because i got them, even though the exit gates where open (which is the time to teabag, not to die), one was arguing that it has been boring because no chases happened.
So, i dont do that regulary, but i like setting out this small traps once in a while and meme, but that means i dont play the game as it meant to be played.
Is that a problem, if you just do it sometimes? I know not participating in normal game play is bannable, however, seeing that i got a 4k, it was just a new approach.
How do you see it, is it a problem (as long as its not a regular play style).
Also, just for other dredges, because i at least didnt know that: it seems like you build nightfall as long as you stay inside a locker after teleportation. I dont know if thats on purpose, but it good to know.

It’s OK as long as you don’t hold the game hostage which is not the case here.

I don't think you need to ask our permission. Do whatever you please as long as it doesn't break the rules.

Follow what works for you. Had there been many chases those sacrificed would still have given you a treatment (be it t-bag or cuss words). You can't please everybody. And what you described is nowhere near bannable.

If that were my username I'd have found it pretty funny lol weird they took it so badly

Why would it be a problem? You bought the game no need to ask for permission

I think it's very funny ! Especially if it's in reaction to a player's name.
There's nothing wrong with spicing up games a little by playing in varied way. Like betting everything on endgame.
Last weekend, I played with a couple of friend and ended up against a Blight on Shattered Square. He seems friendly, which is immediately suspicious to me because Blight is up there in my list of killers that are nearly never friendly. He is also high on my list of killers who are nearly always sweaty.
Any other killer I might have joined in on the fun and given him a few pallets, but since it felt fishy, I did gens instead.
Turns out the guy had Rancor, Nemesis, NOED and Blood Warden. He managed two moris that way, since Nemesis creates a new obsession if the killer gets stunned after the old obsessions dies.
And it was hilarious ! I got away through luck as the gates were far apart from each other. It was odd and refreshing. I enjoyed that match just for the sheer surprise and also my friend's scream when he got downed and mori'ed.
Do fun endgame builds. People who have a sense of humor will appreciate that !

I tip my arm to you for that play, fellow Dredge.

You are 100% allowed to play how you want (within the rules obviously) but you should be prepared that not everyone is going to appreciate you playing like that (especially if they used some good offering stuff).
Meme builds and whatnot can be fun but from your description, it sounds like there wasn't really any normal gameplay going on. You sit in a locker and wait for the gens to be all done, which I can see survivors who actually want to playing the game be irked about.
Although if you did play the game normal and just did the teleport thing at the end (you weren't specific if you just hid all game or if you just did this at the end), then all criticism I had above is not in play and they're just being salty bois.

no, tippy, you got that right, i just hid in the locker and waited. they might have triggered me earlier, but they only did it in the end, and yes, thats exactly the point that i understand.
(although, most people dont like it when i play dredge for real either ^^)

If setting a trap for survivors was wrong the game's mascot wouldn't literally be called the Trapper.
Personally, any annoyance I felt on encountering such a build as you describe would be offset by fishing it hilarious to see happen.
I need to check this Insidious thing surrey Dredge.

If the killer seems absent for most of the match, I assume I'm going to get attacked once the gates are powered. When someone gets a stunt like that to go off, I don't mind.

Bwahaha. Comedy gold. Shame they got aggy with you after but NOED/bloodwarden builds tend to ellicit that reaction. Pretty genius doing it on dredge for the grab so you didn't reveal the NOED.
Nothing wrong with playing that build, it's high risk high reward. If he didn't go for that locker or other survs just noped out you'd not get the 4k.

I set traps, ambushes and trick people into death all the time. The real in-game rulebook says that you need to do "everything in your power" to stop the survivors, so you're fine. Be villainous. If they can't play around what you do, then they can always try again next match.

Play how you want! As long as you’re not doing anything bannable, you don’t owe anyone an answer or apology.
