Nemesis Crouch Counter to Whip

I don’t know if somethings been changed with him but I swear you used to reliably be able to crouch behind a pallet/window/shorter objects/loops etc and it used to be the way to not get hit.

Lately I’ll go against a Nemesis and I’m getting hit through everything, am I getting worse at countering him, has something changed or is there a reliable counter to it that I don’t know? It’s obnoxious af lol.
