New player experience
I started to play the Clown, lvl 1 no BP invested.
Had only bamboozle on him.
The game was fun, the survivors for some reason all walked into me but in the end, only one was left. So far so good.
But with no tracking perks available at the start, I had to wait for him to finish a gen or jump into the hatch.
I found the hatch first. So what should I do?
Camping the hatch or patrolling the gens?
Either way, you lose the complete control over the map and have to surrender to the survivor.
For 10 min I just searched the map until the survivor found the hatch. Threw pebbles and buttdances on the hatch.
How can we enhance the experience for a new player without him feeling powerless and the urge to surrender, because he is unable to locate the last survivor? Just take Whisper or any other tracking perk is not an option because a new player has no access to these perks or any other ingame indicator. He only can hope that the survivor finishes a gen or run around and leaves scratch marks all over the place.
When the tables are turned a survivor gets an audible clue for the hatch to find it easier.

The sad part is that this has nothing to do with new player experience. Even at rank 1 you are pretty much powerless in the hatch situation, thats why the hatch closing mechanic got proposed.

That's the big hatch issue and topic of many, many threads here. It's the same on high ranks.
The hatch mechanic needs a rework but obviously a good enough idea hasn't been found yet.

I repeat myself here, but...
the hatch is unfair, because there is no similar mechanic for killer.
The hatch is supposed to prevent a 4 kill team wipe, but there is no such mechanic that helps the killer to prevent a 4 men escape.
And the most unfair thing about the hatch is, it will still open for the "last survivor" despite other survivor already escaped. Honestly, that should not happen.

The hatch standoff is the biggest grieve I have with the game right now. Its got nothing to do with new player experience indeed and is the exact same regardless of your rank. Its also inherently STUPID.
I personally just let the survivor escape if I can't get an easy 4th kill. I also can't be bothered to spend much effort for that fourth kill by slugging the third survivor. I just want to move on.

My problem is not the hatch.
My issue is the stalemate.
I cannot find the survivor at lvl 1 because the lack of tracking perks.
I cannot quit the game without losing my progress to get tracking perks.
All I can do is either stand on the hatch or patrol the gen/map and hope to find the last survivor, only to be tbagged at the hatch, because now that he has found the hatch, the survivor don't simply leaves, but wants to tease me.
It's just overall frustrating and time wasting.
If I at least can say, ok. you win, I let you go. Don't waste my time anymore, just give me my points and I can move on. If you want to immerse yourself further into hiding and stalling the game. all power to you, but I have enough.
I don't like the hatch, no question and I won't lie. But there is not much I can do against it. But at least let me go without losing points.
I got my 3k. I am not crying for a 4k. But if you have a hatch mechanic in play that handholds and enables a lost game for a survivor to escape, let me as the killer just end the game on my terms.
It just sucks to wait until the survivor has the grace to come forth and take the hatch.
At least give me the aura of the survivor so we really have a run for the hatch and not stalling around.

Yeah it's boring when survivor won't leave even when you aren't near the hatch. I never slug for 4k.

Why don't we make a true fun endgame experience out of the hatch?
Auras are both revealed, also the location of the hatch.
Remove the hatch grab but add a exposed on the survivor.
If the killer hits you before you reach the hatch. You lose.
If you get to the hatch before the killer PICKS you up you win. Even if you down.
The hatchstandoff is gone. We get a hatch race. Fun. Fast. Exciting.

(Why is the quote white so you can't see the text? Why is it not dark background like the rest of the forum)
The thing is, whenever a survivor can sit next to the escape route you can be sure they will wait for the killer and teabag. Killer knows there is nothing they can do about it. In the case of hatch they can even take two hits to go fully dying state because they can escape regardless.
I'm not opposed to survivors having the option to escape via the hatch, what annoys me is that there is no way to prevent the lameness surrounding it. The game should always be fun, engaging and exciting, instead of an exercise in frustration.

Hatch standoff is dumb and I agree some sort of solution is needed. But the hatch isn't really there to prevent a 4 man wipe, it's there to give survivors hope and a quicker end to the match.
Imagine you're a good killer no matter which killer you play. Survivors manage to do 2,3,4 generators but you've now killed 3 of them and hatch doesn't exist.. That last survivor has two choices now.
- Finish the number of gens needed to power exit gate and open exit gate without being found, this is pretty difficult with just one gen left to do never mind more. You're left gen patrolling and if you're bad you can't find them, but you killed 3 already so you're probably decent. Survivor has little to no chance solo so you know what they'll end up doing? DC or they'll stealth around to troll for as long as it takes you to find them.
- They just surrender to the killer but that's completely against their objective anyway and why should they?
So the hatch at least will keep that survivor in game looking for it and will mean you match should end in a few minutes and not be another 30 minutes with few extra bp. THIS is why the hatch standoff is dumb. It's supposed to help the match end faster not make it last longer because neither side wants to give up.

That's why I suggest a hatch race.
Reveal all auras, the survivor, killer and the hatch.
Survivor gets exposed, but the killer can no longer hatchgrab, so no sitting on the hatch and waiting for the other to move first.
If the survivor gets to the hatch first he wins, even in dying state. If the killer manages to cut him off and hit him, he wins (yes DS still can be used, so what, at least the match ends)
The goal is to make the endgame faster and exciting for both parties.

"But the hatch isn't really there to prevent a 4 man wipe,"
Actually that IS the reason behind the hatch. Don't try to make stuff up. This is the main reason for the hatch to exist. No fluff flavor lore will change that.

Its even stated that the entity absolutely loves hatch grabs. I don't see the entity removing something that would potentially bring it a ton of joy.
Most the time i just surrender even if the hatch is available. There's so much salt over the game in general and typical BM from both survivors and killers so I don't bother passed 15-20 seconds of looking. I'm essentially wasting time I could be in another game trying to earn more bp so i can boost the rest of my stuff.

You don't get the point.
I don't care about the hatch or a 4k I just either be able to find the last survivor as a new perkless player or be able to ff the game. What I don't want is waiting 5-10 min for the survivor to make a move only because he don't know where the hatch is, don't want to do any gens or is waiting on the hatch, that I don't know where it is and waste time equivalent to an entire match for one survivor to have the courtesy to leave the game or simply do something beside hide.

The problem is not whether its a 4K, or whether a survivor can escape. The problem is that the standoff is a lose-lose situation for the killer. Either I do the staredown and we just stand there forever, or I SURRENDER and let them escape. The mechanic needs to be changed in a way that removes the STANDOFF.
If there is a hatch and the survivor is there, if you hit the survivor (as you are theoretically supposed to do) you lose and the survivor escapes. Its just mind-bogglingly stupid how this has persisted so long. Please devs, help us out.
ps. Sorry for derailing the thread.
