Leatherface needs a Camping Nerf

This is an inarguable truth. He is the worst offender when it comes to making games miserable for just about any player. God forbid you want to play the damn match when he comes into the game with Iron Grasp, Agitation and Insidious, because you're not going to have a good time.

And even if you want to play Leatherface like a human being with an actual modicum of decency, you'll still get Survivors who will assume you're going to be camping them and then THEY will not be giving you a good time.

Leatherface needs the following nerfs to punish players for playing in a way that loses the spirit of the game:

  • Nerf: The Cannibal can no longer put Survivors into the Dying State when within 12 meters of a hooked Survivor.
  • Nerf: The Cannibal can no longer hit the same Survivor twice when within 12 meters of a hooked Survivor.
  • Nerf: The Cannibal will automatically stop sweeping and lose all Tokens if they hit a Survivor attempting to rescue their teammate.
  • Nerf: These functions will persist for 15 seconds if The Cannibal was within the allotted range while a Survivor was unhooked.
  • Quality of Life: These functions will NOT occur if The Cannibal activates chase while both he and the other Survivor are not within 12 meters of the hook.

This sounds extremely harsh, it is, but it is quite literally the most effective way to de-incentivize the camping aspect of Leatherface and incentivize actually playing the game. No other solution would bring the sledgehammer down on this character's camping abilities harder or more efficiently.

Whenever someone says 'A nerf to punish people', what they are really saying is 'I don't like this, and I want people who use it to suffer.' or 'I want to punish people who broke my made up, unenforceable rules'.

    So...No.

Unfortunately I don't think they will nerf, most of the community don't want cannibal nerfed, an example and comment above.

It's almost like 'I want to punish people for making me angry' is a incredibly horrible reason to nerf anything. Wild, that.

Normally that's true, but Bubba camping is really it's own beast entirely. It's one of the few actually encounterable things in the game and really does need a nerf.

Bubbas camping ability being in need of counterplay should be inarguable truth and yet...

Or maybe just that bubba camping should have counterplay bc the fact that it doesn't is just not fair in the slightest?

You know I proposed a way to fix this ages ago....Make the hook poles have collision for his chainsaw.

If a LF camps you just run around the hook pole and he will tantrum.

The fix they should have done for billy was make the overheat only be a thing if you are within 16m of a survivor on the hook.

Considering that the game is about to be 7 years old

    They haven't fixed this yet

So I think that the developers deliberately did this because it is one of the main reasons for buying Leatherface

I love playing chase only leatherface.

I hook in basement only if it's closest hook (and immediatelly sprint away after).

I basically never camp (but in endgame, camping does not exist).

My loadout never even contains iron grasp, agitation or mad grit.

But still - OP's suggestion would basically prevent me to play the game.

Do I think his camping ability is too good? Is it boring to play as? Or to plsy against? Should devs do something about it? - all of this hard yes. But please. Absolutely do not go the way OP presented, because the abuse factor would make Bubba totally unplayable.

How about we don't destroy a perfectly good Killer that is enjoyed by many because you are mad about the Camping?

Bubba is clearly good at Camping, his power makes unsafe saves into disasters for Survivors, Yes, so instead of nerfing Bubba, how about we make sure Survivors understand what they can and cannot do. This is actually the only reason the Bubba can successfully facecamp, = Survivors who dont know what they can get away with and not.

Any Bubba who knows how to play, You cant do a save next to them, so you would think Survivors would stop trying. But they don't.

The most effective way to de-incentivize the camping is Survivors learning to not try the bad strategies against a Bubba.

Just do gens, Use reassurance and the face-camped Survivor needs to take it on the chin for the team.

But what happens is 1 to 2 Survivors will sit in a Bush waiting for Bubba

Survivors wont use Reassurance, cause "come on I need Unbreakable instead lol"

and the Face-camped Survivor will self sacrifice themselves as fast as possible because they don't care to counter play.

This is why we always get anti-camp suggestions on these forums, cause people cant be bothered to take it seriously and fight it.

That isnt the Killer's fault or bHVR's design of the Killer fault tho, that's all working as intended.

If all survivors suddenly stopped wanting to get chased and just didnt move, that would not be reason to nerf Killers. That is what is happening, its Survivors who cant be asked to counterplay it. Its like some people have it in their mind that tunneling and camping should not be able to exist and they need bHVR to step in and play the game for them. To this, I say No Thanks man.

It wouldn't be DbD without facecamping Bubba, you can't change that. It's the heart and soul of the game!

Even if he tantrums you still risk getting downed so you can't make the save before he comes out of tantrum. So that just isn't a fix.

It's been 6 years and more and the survivors haven't learned that yet

I just don't see how that is my problem as a Killer. if they want to try dumb ideas, ill be happy to teach them the reality of the situation.

    Then you use it wrong.
