Been a huge Cage fan since Face Off so this is actually pretty ######### awesome. I know he fell of quite a bit over the last decade though so more than surprised. In a good way though. Not the juice needed to make me download again but vey nice BHVR.

I think he is part of the chapter. They said "learn more June 5th", Chapters generally release about every 3 months. The last chapter was 03-07-2022. That lines up with June 5th. The last few years we had chapters release on:
- 06-07-2022
- 06-14-2021
- 06-15-2020
Ash and Mikaela released around a month after a chapter in between 2 chapters. And we are a bit past that timeline for it to be June 5th. That comes too close to the chapter.
So here is my theory:
I suspect that he is part of the chapter. And they say "more details June 5th", which is a Monday. They will announce the PTB for the next day and give more details about his character. Which as others have pointed out, he might be in the DBD movie, and not actually be "Nic Cage" literally, but the character he plays in the movie. And that this trailer for him is mostly a teaser because we don't know details about the movie yet. Because of the likely movie tie in, it needs to wait for the 5th to be announced due to timelines of other things. Because of the movie and other shenanigans, they probably also need to delay the chapter a bit to make sure everything lines up on this timeline to be part of when more details about the movie are released.
Also, for big shock value, unironically he has a shot at being the killer because they would be very surprising.

That's because his financial manager ran off with all his money. He takes all the roles, including the garbage ones, because he has to. I mean, you don't see him in as many bad roles anymore because he's probably recouped his money at this point but for years you saw him in everything no matter how bad because he was broke and rich person bills are very expensive.

Well let’s hope they didn’t and it’s actually some character from an actual horror movie/medium that is portrayed by Nicolas Cage.
no shade or anything but just adding random famous person is just something they shouldn’t do. Separate the art from the artist - if they later turn out to be some kind of horrible person (which I don’t imply for this specific person but who knows) then there will be some trouble.
also the argument of ‚now that they added this they might as well add that‚ actually makes sense and can be applied to whatever. And it would not be because of Trickster or Skull Merchant (which are both originally created horror characters just like Trapper or Dwight) - but because an actual real person being added that doesn’t originate from something horror.
