Overwatch competitive

Back in season 2, the competitive play matchmaking took around 30 minute to find a fair game then the developers expanded the matchmaking to include more players down in ranks so people at higher ranks get quick games. And guess what? It backfired and got reverted because it caused a lot of unfair games.

DBD is now the same thing, you get horrible randoms inexchange for faster matchmaking. I do not like this and would rather to wait for a fair and better game than a constant unfair games.

DBD should have 2 modes one for people that want to wait for a fair matchmaking and one for people that just want to play to do challenges or play casually.

If Overwatch has 30 minute queues, imagine how long DbD’s would be.

Yeah heres the thing with OW comp matches. They are on average MUCH longer than a DbD match

Pretty sure OW also has a bigger playerbase without even having crossplay. If that takes 30 minutes to find a game I cant even imagine how long DbD would take

The only thing you can really take away from OW is that gamers are willing to wait in longer queues for better matches if there's a reason for it i.e. rank. Very few would be willing to wait 10 minutes for an unranked match. I'd definitely rather wait a couple minutes instead of constant stream of instant queue>trash games though

I think the game could grow with a ranked mode. It's kind of flawed to solely gauge the interest based on the active playerbase when it's intensely casual. You've run off most of the more competitive minded players at this point. It's like asking why people aren't ordering food that isn't on the menu.

I play competitive exclusively in Overwatch and most matches are found in under a minute for me. On the rare occasion it will take a couple minutes or so. I have a feeling though that a lot of people may be quitting OW given the recent PVE news and the general direction the game has taken since OW 2 was announced.

I usually find DBD matches pretty quick on the survivor side but sometimes a match takes a few minutes to find. A stand alone competitive mode for DBD seems like a good idea but I think the matches in them would feel mostly the same as those in the current matchmaking.

Yea an unranked mode does need to be added... but it'll be a bit odd to start off

nah most of playerbase dont want 20+ min for a match that is right! but also people who are casually-inexperienced don't want to meet people who have 5k+ hrs and are just sweating, so you have to find the middle between boths like a monk who meditates, waiting a few minutes for a que is quite normal if the matchmaking does what it's supposed to, look in cs there is millions of players every day and I'm still waiting minutes for a lobby because it's looking for people in my skill, for bhvr it's more frequency than quality, i.e. it's better to have 5 matches in one hour than 3-4 balanced and good matches in 1 hour, me I think the mindset is horrible and I decided to drop dbd because bhvr just doesn't want to see it next to many other unbalanced and unfair things

no matchmaking in the world can be good if you are immediately matched with people, in addition to cs it's also like that with League (1mil+ player last 1h) you don't get a lobby immediately and as a master with silver players are matched the devs like this "it's ok, the main thing is it will be played" also a thing that I can only observe at bhvr-dbd

The last time this question was put to the community the overwhelming response was faster queue times, in preference to matchmaking quality.

I doubt DBD has the playerbase size to support two queues either. And how would the sweats be kept out of the casual side anyway, in either role?
