Vet guesstimate for when my kitties were born was May 3, 2022 so going with that they just celebrated their first birthday. 😁

I was gonna make my cats birthday be on their adoption dates but I don't remember when that actually was :D
I could look it up easy enough but I feel like I'm going to have that problem every year...

If there was no estimated date I would've gone with adoption day. Probably give them special treats on adoption date too to celebrate.
It helps their birthday is in May. Kazis birthday is in May and my last cat's birthday was in May too.

Nibi 4 days ago.
6 month old red fox at rescue that was introduced to 3 fox kits (all 3 orphaned from different foxes). Older fox basically adopted the kits and rescue is hoping older fox will be healthy enough to be released with kits when time comes. They're such a cute family. 😍

Good news bad news fam
Good News: The bird feeders are attracting a ton of birds, including new birds I haven't seen yet. Including a huge friggin blue bird (I'm pretty sure it was a Blue Jay)
Bad News: I was too fascinated by my new blue friend that I didn't snap a pic
I'm relatively confident that they will return. Now we just play The Waiting Game...
EDIT: Although now I feel like I need to find a way to feed them. That birb was a LOT bigger than the little fellas I usually get. The birb feeders I have aren't designed for big bois...

No idea if they’re similar, but our net of unpeeled peanuts seems to wonders in attracting the eurasian jays. I think there are currently 2 that visit us regularly, and they’re the only ones that go for the peanuts specifically.
Though we also don’t have squirrels, so I’m not sure if that’s an option for you.

EDIT: Good news, my anti-squirrel barbed wire might actually still work. Right now it's just sitting in the window and I thought it still was. The little bastards knocked it down but I have the outdoor tape to actually secure it to the window. I just wanted to be sure it actually worked first, which it has/had been until it was knocked down...

We've got, from left to right
Chickadee Seed in the window hanger for...well...chickadees and little birds
Golden Saffron in the hanger for small to medium sized birds. The golden finches seem to really love that stuff
The Suet for pecking birds (so the base is hard peanut butter or something like that and then a ton of seeds and whatnot embedded in the brick). Usually the woodpeckers.
Grape Jelly (new feeder) as evidently Orioles LOOOOOOVE Grape Jelly.
Cardinal Mix (so mostly seeded stuff like Sunflower seeds and nuts) for the bigger birds. Not a lot seem to go after it but it does drop in seed levels so someone's eating it. I've seen the woodpeckers at it and some of the medium birds go after it. The Cardinal seems to like that stuff, though I haven't seen him in a while :(

I don’t think they’ll let me 😭. They had actual caretakers for the smaller passerines and turkeys.
the positions they did have only involved the larger animals, though that did in turn mean I would get to interact with the peacocks, goats, larger chickens and alpacas.
which is still an absolute win, all things considered.

[NEW BIRB UNLOCKED]
I had initially assumed it was an Oriole since that's an Oriole feeder (an orange slice and grape jelly in the bowl) but it didn't look like any Oriole I could find
According to The Google, that is a Gray Catbird. It's still super skittish so that's unfortunately the best picture I've been able to get so far.

Completely forgot to update yall about my translating endeavours
basically, that lady I mentioned a few months ago was all well ‘n good, but her course was ultimately not officially recognised, which would mean less opportunities on the eventual job market. Not to mention that the flattery she opened with sounds more and more like a sales pitch, the more I read it.
So instead I’ve decided that I’ll be following an officially credited program, which includes an internship at the end. It’s twice as expensive, but I also won’t have to deal with finding accommodation and/or public transport, since I only need to be on campus for 8 Saturdays every year.
