Who is the most balanced killer in the game?

For me its BILLY.

Why? He has really good mobility, normal movement speed, a strong insta down ability AND at the same time he is manageable and pretty good counterable from survivors side (if the skill is pretty much equal).

Furthermore he has great snowball potentional and can punish (hook) swarming really good.


Imo the devs should take billy's tier as a blueprint and should rework and create killers with his tier in mind.


Also I want to add that anyone who thinks billy needs a nerf or a buff is IMO not understanding DbD at all and shows to me that he's ignorant.

    The Nurse (without add-ons). Hard to learn, harder still to master, and reduces the chase to one of skill. If you're more skilled, you win; if you're less skilled, you lose. She minimizes randomness, takes away braindead stall tactics, and so on.

    I'd have to say that Spirit is the most balanced killer because she has a power that is directly influenced by your own skill along with good mobility as well. She has drawbacks which makes it difficult to use her correctly sometimes such as the inability to see survivors or blood when her power is in use.

    Billy is where all Killers should be in my opinion. He's strong enough to put up a fair fight but also able to be beaten when played well against or played badly.

    Games should be balanced at the top. Not the bottom, not the middle, not the majority; the top. That is the only way to ensure a game is balanced at all levels of play.

    Yes the most balanced killer is the one that can have a survivor instadowned in the first 10 seconds of the game and create an immense snowball at any minute. *Rolls eyes*


    Spirit is a good candidate. Has options at every pallet, but takes 2 hits to down survivors. Has snowball potential but not overwhelmingly slow. When phasing she can either wreck survivors or miss completely. She's a strong balanced killer.

    Personally I think Spirit is a good example for balance. She can generate a lot of map pressure AND she can end chases quickly but requires lots of skills and muscle memory (unlike Billy) to be efficient and doesn't have an instadown (unlike Billy) which means any survivor gets a fair chance to have a proper chase.

    For me the balanced killers are from most powerful to least powerful: Billy, Spirit, Hag, Huntress, and Myers.

    Nurse is OP and everyone else has issues.

    Billy since he's powerfull but still has enough counterplay.


    I'd say that nurse is quite balanced as well unless she has addons that give her more blinks. If she gets addons rework and some other rather small nerfs (maybe minor LOS nerf or a bit longer stun duration) she'll be still very powerfull while there'll be a bit bigger window to juke and lose her.

    I love playing against her so I in any way don't want her to be nerfed into oblivion. She and spirit are only killers that have actually fun chases with a lot of mindgames.

    Spirit is almost as good as Nurse. That's far too OP. She doesn't need a nerf but she definitely isn't balanced. She chases better then Nurse as well. Since you can't really juke a God tier Spirit.


    IMO Billy is perfectly balanced. Loopable, strong enough to end chases quickly but to also be juked. Perfect and in a good spot.

    Edit: forgot to mention how a good Spirit ends chases in pretty much 10 seconds.

    Not really. His appears on top of survivors out of nowhere. If they aren't next to a pallet or window and he's carrying the instasaw add ons then it's easy to get an instadown.


    There's a real contradiction when it comes to Hillbilly. He's apparantly so easy to loop yet he'd also the second best killer in the game. Those two things don't add up.

    Spirit. As a Spirit there is always some action you can do to counter anything a Survivor does.

    It all comes down to mind games rather than just ignoring everything or waiting for a mistake.

    If a God Spirit goes against a non-God Survivor she will win. If a non-God Spirit goes against a God Survivor then the Survivor will escape. Or in otherwords the better player wins.

    Spirit is one of the only killers where almost no one ever feels helpless. There is always SOMETHING you can do with or against her phasing.

    Spirit doesn't have an instadown though. Meaning her chases can never be as short as Billy's. Plus she can't cross the map like he can. If someone gets unhooked across the map she cant go back for the tunnel. She can cross a fair bit of the map but not all but then she's left without a power for 15 seconds until it recharges.


    Billys instadowns and speed make his snowball potential much stronger than spirits which is ehy spirit feels less cheap.

    You can avoid everything by beeing aware and sticking to loops. U can loop billy aswell, and a minority is capable of doing perfect and deadly curving at loops (and even then it's open for mindgames, survivors can bait that).

    Imo if you go down within the first minute of the match you did the mistakes.

    I don't agree. I think a game should be balanced to average players, who are the most numerous, specially in a game without competitive mode and without an e-sport scene like DBD.

    Especially since what helps makes top tier players is the ability to use a low tier/average balance in unique and intriguing ways to out play the average person.

    I used to always say Myers, but Spirit takes this. She relies upon the killer AND survivor both playing well. She's like nurse, but actually fun to play

    Trapper is the most balanced. He doesn't excel at anything in particular, but he isn't really weak in any areas either. He can use traps to counter some loops and shorten chases. He's got decent movement speed and terror radius. His perks are all round useful and his addons give him proper boosts in the right place.

    how is something balanced at the top level balanced for all levels of play? and normally I would agree with that statement but dbd isn't a competitive game.

    Also when balancing a game it isn't just balancing for the top. That is important but there is more to it than that. You have to keep things balanced in multiple different ways.

    1: Raw power. This is what the "balancing for the top" is for. Everyone's absolute maximum theoretical ability to win should be exactly the same in a perfectly balanced game. This also means that random elements shouldn't have a combination that breaks the game. So for example if a perk made hitting a player give a 1% chance to instantly kill them with 0 hooks or build up then that would be MASSIVELY OP. This is despite the 99% chance making it completely unusable. This is because when it triggers the effect is too much and if it triggers 4 times in a row then the survivor's don't stand a chance)

    2: Skill curve. This is the difference between the worst player and the best player. The absolute amount depends on your game (competitive games should always have a wider gap than casual games) but the important thing is that it is consistent between the different roles. If survivor is harder to learn than killers then that is an issue, either killer needs a larger skill gap or survivor needs a smaller one. A sign that this isn't working properly is when win rates change at different ranks which in general isn't something you want as it makes it impossible for the game to be balanced for everyone.

    3: Counterplay. Unlike the first 2 points this is more of a micro thing. Rather than checking if a killer or survivor perk is balanced throughout a game you just ask "Is it balanced at this instant". This is where you have problems with Killers like the legion. Yeah sure the survivors as a whole will beat him no problem, but that doesn't change the fact that what he CAN do isn't something you can stop in any way. It's essentially the inverse of the first category. Instead of asking "how strong is this killer when he plays perfectly" you ask "how strong is this killer when the survivor's play perfectly".


    Ideally any element of a game should A: Not be stronger than everything else. B: Get more useful as you improve at the same rate as everything else. And C: Do worse when the opposition is at THEIR best (which should then be nullified by A)

    I would agree with spirit, if there was a way to know if she was phasing or not. I mean you really can't tell if she just sits there, and it kind of makes any kind of juke or "outplay" useless. I get that it's the whole mind game thing, but I mean there's no real mind play to a standing still spirit, and you don't know whether she's phasing past the pallet or not. Other wise I think she's quite balanced.

    You can loop him yes. Yet for years he has been known as the second strongest killer in the game.

    So what's going on there? If Billy was just a loopable pleb like leatherface then he would have always been far below Hag, Huntress and Clown on tier lists yet everyone knows he's much, much stronger.

    Simply because the top levels will give the standard of what is counterable and what not (aka broken). If you attempt to balance around the "average casual" the top level players will abuse that.

    Best example is D-Strike: in the hand of noobs it's not a big deal, you down them within 10 seconds again (if they even hit the skillcheck) but in the hands of good players it's absolutly broken. That's why you take the top players as reference to balance the game for everyone. That's how balancing works in every single game.

    na i disagree with this and that is an arrogant thing to say, i have seen some of the best survivors in this game playing and when a match starts they have the bad luck of spawning in the wrong place and by the time billy is there it is too late for them to really have a defense or do anything and they get downed, it is not cuz they are garbage it is just bad luck but with that being said you can't say a killer isnt balance based on bad luck so i do agree that Billy is quite balanced.
