Sets Ruin Cosmetics

The amount of outfits I want to buy but are locked as sets is depressing tbh. Literally every single one of Jill's outfits are sets and NONE of them need to be sets? None of them are one pieces or otherwise have a necessity to be sets? why does behavior do this? Even if it isn't a licensed characters why are sets a thing? They completely defeat the purpose of buying cosmetics?

I would LITERALLY pay extra to be able to unlock a set and combine the outfits. I really hope someone behind the decision making revises sets in their current state and in the very least lets us pay extra to unlock sets and combine outfits. I WILL PAY MORE PLZZPZLZPZLZ

Yeah it sucks. I get licensed survivor sets but at least allow us to unlink the non-licensed sets like scarecrow billy or ferryman blight. I personally would like to have their weapons on other cosmetics.

If it's a licensed set, like Birkin, there's a reason it can't be mixed with other pieces, but like I'm taking for example the Pyramid Head forge set (or whatever it's called). The sword and helmet are gorgeous, but I don't buy the set because it's a set and the body disgusts me. Many sets don't actually make sense

  • I would literally cry tears of joy if they let me unlink/break up the jane romero goddess set

Take it up with the license holders :/, I'm assuming they wouldn't be a fan of silly cosmetic combinationz

I don't think Licence Holders really have a Problem with unlinking cosmetics. For example look at the Attack on Titan Cosmetics. When the Licence Holders allow their characters to get changed so much that they are a Mix of their Licenced Anime Character and a DBD character I don't think they would have a Problem with for example Dwight only wearing the AoT-Pants.

Thing is, license holders differs from one another, some are more flexible than others, that's why some characters like Leatherface, Pinhead, Myers and Ghostface have mixable cosmetics while characters like Pyramid Head and every character from Resident evil have locked cosmetic, or a more extreme example like Freddy & Quentin, who both doesn't even have a single cosmetic to this day.

Licensed cosmetics would be no different in this regard really.

Actually Pinhead is not flexible. Pinheads Cosmetics are ALL linked (except the Prestige one but that is never linked).

The reason why Leatherface and Myers aren't linked is because they were released when no linked Outfits existed. So license holders didn't even care if they are linked because it wasn't even a thing back in the day.

Ghostface is a non-licensed character in DBD (except of the mask).

What I wanted to say is that the Attack on Titan License Holders don't seem to have restrictions to their licence. It's BHVR wanting to sell the whole Outfit.

But why not changing the Shop so you have to buy the full outfit but letting the option to customize them afterwards?

The AoT crossover is a separate case altogether as they are just outfits, but not actual AoT characters.

Jill's cosmetics are from the difference looks she's worn in various RE games. They are more or less unique enough to be treated as locked sets. Which is most likely what Capcom has dictated needed to happen.

Wrong, his original cosmetic set is mixable.

The reason why Leatherface and Myers aren't linked is because they were released when no linked Outfits existed. So license holders didn't even care if they are linked because it wasn't even a thing back in the day.

It doesn't matter if those characters came out prior to linked outfits, the license holders could very well have changed their mind for the outfits to be linked if they desired it, also at one point bhvr even accidentally linked one of Leatherface's outfit for a short while before reverting it back, same deal with Leon & Jill's first outfits before reverting them back to be linked, showing that bhvr could easily make outfits linked or not linked if needed.

Ghostface is a non-licensed character in DBD (except of the mask).

Half license still count as a license and as long as it is one, then bhvr has to abide by the license holder's wish if they want the outfits to be linked or not, doesn't matter if the outfits are original or not. In fact, they very well could have said no to bhvr being allowed to create original outfits and only allow them to use existing robes created by Fun World themself if they wanted to use the mask altogether.

What I wanted to say is that the Attack on Titan License Holders don't seem to have restrictions to their licence. It's BHVR wanting to sell the whole Outfit.

AOT cosmetics are treated the same way as Feng's cosplay outfits or Felix's BSAA outfit, so again it's down to the license holder if they wish for them to be linked or not, the Crypt TV Birch outfit for Hag could have been locked as well, however it wasn't because the license holder allowed it to be mixable.

But why not changing the Shop so you have to buy the full outfit but letting the option to customize them afterwards?

Because being forced to buy the entire outfits for all of them is even less consumer friendly than what we have now, it's still better to have the option to choose if you want to buy certain pieces of cosmetics seperately from the entire set, even if it's not possible to do so for all cosmetic sets.

Some linked sets are designed in such a way that if they were to unlink, there would be terrible clipping issues. (ie. high waisted skirts w/ short tops are sets cause without the skirt, there would be a void where the skirt is supposed to be)

Heres a link to someone on reddit unlinked linked sets and putting them with other cosmetics. https://www.reddit.com/r/deadbydaylight/comments/kzb2g8/explanations_for_why_cosmetic_sets_are_locked_and/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

  • Right, but there are TONS of sets that wouldn't even break if we were allowed to mix them. the Jane Romero goddess set is a perfect example of an outfit that doesn't need to be a set. I saw what it looked like separated when I broke sets. I hate that it's a set, it doesn't need to be! I hate that this new YUI outfit is a set. It's so bad, it's really ruins the entire point of getting cosmetics. I hate sets, and I'm willing to pay more to unlink them.

Honestly. Take Cheryl for instance. She has all these rare and lower outfits that look fantastic together, yet you're restricted and her outfit combinations are severely limited because they were designed as linked sets. Yet she looks perfectly fine, even better with looks like Goth Cheryl.

I've got no interest in locked sets. I find mixing sets actually creates better appearances for some killers.

I understand the licensed ones, but yeah the others are completely ruined by being sets. I would've been interested in some if they could be broken down.
