Killers FOV is an Insult
Its honestly a bit of an insult to the motion sick community of this game. Plenty cant play the game without feeling nauseous because the FOV is so choked. So, they are forced to use shadowborn just to play the game they paid for without becoming physically ill. The situation is really no different from visual TR.
- Deaf people needed spine chill to play on equal footing --->optional basekit spinechill for the deaf community.
- Motion sick people need FOV slider or they become nauseous and ill while playing ---> forced to use 3 perks constantly.
And no, it would not affect balance. At all. If it were that big a balance issue then shadowborn wouldn't be a terrible perk. Seeing a little bit more in every direction would barely effect anything beyond QOL and accessibility. We can't just go "but FOV techs!" when players are becoming physically ill because a paid game forces them to play at a disadvantage just to play. FOV techs only work in niche scenarios or against bad killers anyway, excluding some that rely on being offscreen entirely thus unaffected. Why did thedeaf community get visual TR so they could play on equal footing, while those with motion sickness are forced to use shadowborn just to play the game?
at least deaf people don't get sick without visual TR. Imagine you pay 30 dollars for a unique game you heard about, try out killer (50% of that 30$ pricetag) only to find it makes you sick just to do so? Then you find out that if you want to play the killer role, you only get 3 perks because shadowborn is all that makes it playable for you. I'm all for visual TR and all but there are other accessibility problems with solutions already in the code that they just won't add despite constant outcry.
I'll add that I love the games accessibility, visual TR colorblind mode etc all great things that belong in the game. But we can't just leave killers with motion sickness playing how deaf survivors were a year or two ago. its just not fair to them.

It's great that Survivors got many usefull QoL options but can we now also give finaly something to the other side too? Would be great if I could stop running Shadowborn 24/7 every match. Default FOV is just bad.

FOV slider should have been added a long time ago. Killer FOV is absolutely horrendous.

A better FOV would slightly affect balance. But only as much as a killer turning their camera to see around themself. So probably not even noticeable. I don't suffer from motion sickness (luckily) but I get quickly disoriented without Shadowborn. I really cannot understand why we haven't had any word on this issue by the devs.
Please, BHVR! At least say something. Is there anything in the works, or do you at least consider it? This silence is not helping anyone and while I understand that you don't want to make false promises, aknowledging the issue would go a long way.

I get terrible headache and nausea after playing default FOV for few minutes.
And I love how devs wont say a word about FOV slider for years

I don't think you can pin the fault of being a motion sick prone person buying the game and then not investigating the game first before purchasing, even more so. Morally or Legally. There is plenty of gameplay material for you to have checked. I understand you want POV to be handled better, me too, but don't try to guilt trip the Developers.
I don't want bHVR to associate the idea of POV options with such a bad argument.

it was just an example. And clearly if there are that many motion sick players then they didnt research that deeply. I wouldn't either, I'd just look at the reviews and think it seems cool. Unless theres some wacky shenanigans going on, I'd imagine most first person games that are just walking around and sometimes falling (like a typical shooter or something like re7) dont cause much motion sickness for the majority. Unless its something like portal then I wouldn't really give it that much thought. And even if that were the case and everyone did research super deeply and choose not to purchase, then why should they be locked from buying a game they want because the devs haven't accommodated their needs? In that case, it would be way better from a business standpoint as well.

I don't really get your point here. People should investigate before purchasing about... whether or not the fov makes them feel sick when playing, which is an issue only they'll figure out is an issue if they start playing after buying?
you can't just scout out fov motion sickness that easily from yt videos. and even if you could, like the other guy said "why should they be locked from buying a game they want because the devs haven't accommodated their needs?" locking people out of a game because you can't play a few matches without becoming motion sick unless you enjoy wasting a perk slot is utter BS. i'd argue their argument, although it could be worded better, is fairly sound and a good point. keeping the fov so low (especially with no slider) is a bad marketing decision and they're clutching onto dumb beliefs that it's a huge balancing concern when all they're doing is frustrating people because they fail to meet basic accessibility requirements.

I don't really have issue with normal killers, but I hate Billy. How his camera goes up and down is really annoying for me. FOB slider wouldn't fix that tho.

I guess you are used to thinking a lot less about what games you buy than me. So how is this bHVR's fault again?
The point is, its unreasonable for a Game Developer to develop a game and having foreseen and then warned you about whatever issue you have, even if you are used to not thinking about the problems you have. That isn't bHVR's fault, that is your own problem, and its the pinning of blame I objected to.
As I see it a Game Developer is free to set the game how they see fit and they are free to accommodate users too on changing it.
That means its also up to you to research a game before you buy it, especially if I had a thing where I would be dizzy from a specific angle of FOV. If I had that I would make sure the games I picked had those options and I would not throw a fit at the developer when they have no moral or legal obligation to do so.
So maybe we can be more reasonable, Chill with the Blame games and ask for FOV options when bHVR asks us for feedback.
Just a thought.
