An increase in poor connections
Over this past month, maybe a little longer, I've noticed a HUGE increase in the amount of players with absolutely abysmal connections.
Almost every game has at least one survivor who'll be on like 150+ ping with a red bar, and every 4th or 5th survivor game I face a killer who has similar ping or even higher.
Is anyone else noticing this too?

Yes, but somethin odd might be happening to the servers or something as well. I've been kicked from lobbies saying i've been disconnected while my wi-fi is stable (discord still running, checked other monitor for connection and still there, no storms in the area, havent had any problems with other games)

VPNs are probably on sale lmao

Maybe. The number of reports like this have increased greatly. Something definitely is up

It wouldn't be a problem in any other game, only in DBD where having high ping as killer gives all sorts of unfair advantages.
The worst part is that you can't even SEE the killer's ping, you have to die under a pallet just to get basic information, thanks BHVR

VPNs or this game doesn’t have region lock which I’m pretty sure it doesn’t

I have insane ping spikes for weeks now for no reason. It never happened before and its only happening on dbd of course.
Also getting million different errors when logging into the game

I am suspicious that the servers are unstable currently. A few trials now have experienced high ping which appears to dart from player to player. I checked my connection on Xbox to find my ping was only 44 and there was zero packet loss.
Something is not right. Out of interest, solar flares can affect electronics and there's been a peak in solar activity. Might that be at least part of the reason?

Can't say I personally have noticed this all too frequently, but to wager a guess:
Long ago, BHVR talked about wanting to implement cross-region matchmaking to completent the MMR system and find closer matches. It tends to take them ages to do stuff, so this might be them testing such a feature now.
I would want to note that the MMR system seems to have been butchered to the point of basically not existing anymore anyway; they've either outright disabled it, lowered the effective cap so much that essentially everyone arrives at it, or the matchmaker itself just doesn't care much about the rating anymore. Either way, why expand matchmaking pools across regions to help a system that doesn't work to make close matches to begin with.
Also: It would be ridiculous for them to allow cross-region matchmaking without first finally tackling the huge issue that is killer client-sided hit registration. It's plagued the game since its inception, but at least things are still bearable if most players you meet are below 80ms. That would change with cross-region MM.
Them (ridiculously) removing the "high killer ping" warning from the lobbies for no apparent reason could also be in preparation of cross-region MM, although that's been gone for a while, and is probably just BHVR being BHVR.

This is on the devs to fix. The very least they can do is provide us with the killer’s ping so we can dodge lobby if they have crappy internet or are using a VPN. Ideal solution would be a minimum ping requirement. If you are above the threshold (with exception of occasional instantaneous spikes) you cannot begin matchmaking process.

I'm not sure it's related but I've been kicked from games a few times the last couple weeks (the game full on crashes with the error report), although my connection doesn't have any issues. I also started getting some buffering issues, but it's possible that's just my computer not enjoying the rising temperatures tbh.
