Why do so many survivors go out of their way to make the Killer miserable?
So many survivors I run into seem less interested in playing the game and more interested in tormenting the Killer in some fashion. Constant flashlight blinds regardless of whether they are necessary, incessant teabagging, BM abound, etc.

I wouldn't exactly call a flashlight blind tormenting

Flashlight blinds are OK, but I agree that tbaging, especially at the exit gates is unnecessarily.

Probably the same reason some killers do it to.
It's an online game, and many people who like to play online games like to be jerks, just the nature of the beast. You'll find it in every role in every online game that exists.

Cycle of revenge. Simple as that.

Run lightborn. Trust me, I always run it and it’s made wonders. Even at level 1 it’s so useful

Every-time I watch survivor streamers/CC's they literally spend the entire game just begging for the killer to chase them so they can spam emotes and BM. It gets stale pretty fast, no idea how acting like that is so lucrative in this community.

All hail to our lord and saviour Lightborn 😎

I have literally been blinded three or four times in a row by survivors surrounding me with flashlights before I could react. That's not tormenting? Full SWFs are always the most toxic, no exceptions.

Because it is funny to watch, I personally get bored of doing it fast, but watching others do it compilations(like jrm) is pretty funny.
Now for the killer it's not fun at all, but this game isn't about making things fun for the other team.

Deliberately making someone else miserable for your own enjoyment is a sign of sociopathy.

Run rancor with a lil nemesis and watch the salt.

So...they are playing to have fun instead of winning?
Sounds good to me.

The overediting and also the fact that they screw their randoms out of a real game is what makes it stale for me.
If I'm going to watch someone I want to watch them try their best and be a good sport personally. I like to learn from the best.

Please don't tell me you're calling me a sociopath over a video game.

Not keen on blaming one side for the actions of another.
Killers camp, tunnel, bleedout slug and bully-play because they feel like it.
Survivors t-bag, clickspam and bully-play because they feel like it.
While there will be some who do it out of 'revenge', the majority do it just because they want to.
(And some will claim it's done out of revenge and then have nothing to truly take revenge for.)

There are two DBDs
Public Facing DBD- Everyone is a collective community that wants to uplift and generally nice.
In-game DBD- You are both the toy and torture master trapped in a cycle of dealing with players who thrive on your misery eventually you grow to thrive on making them suffer.

The maps are safe and they know they are untouchable.

A person can have traits of a sociopath and not be one. A lot of people share a trait or two.

Same reason many killers go out of their way to make survivors miserable.

Underrated comment, if I ever saw one

Same reason some killers will hit you on hook and bm you after every misplay. To assert dominance. It makes them feel better about themselves. It's probably not the most healthy coping mechanism but as long as it stays in the game and doesn't cross a certain line (death threats, wishing ill on players' families etc.) we'll just have to deal with it.

You have to remember that they are putting more and more survivor challenges in the Tome that promotes this stuff. “Blind the killer 10 times”, “Stun the killer 3 times in one match”.
My normal build is Kindred, Empathy, Distortion and Desperate Measures. I go out of my way to play stealthy and avoid the killer at all costs. But yesterday I had to run perks like Head On, Flashbang and Blast Mine to get these done. And took in items like firecrackers.
Now I know this is just me and people run these types of builds all the time, but it doesn’t help when survivors who wouldn’t normally do this stuff, have to for challenges.

Not really. Some people preceive small stuff as toxic, even though it's not, and then they want revenge. Perfect example is flashlight blinding like Pulsar said. Have you never seen endgame chats when killers get mad that survivors pallet camp? Or survivors getting mad you're using your ability effectively? Only some people play toxicly just for the sake of it and the majority are usually mad at something. I've learnt to break free of the cycle but it takes effort.

In their defense, the killer is trying to kill them
