this is the least understandable masquerade
What do the things in the air do?
I got an invitation, but then I think I accidentally double-clicked M1 and there was a swirl around me and it got used up, and I don't know what benefit I got from it?
From the description, I thought it was going to be "you find an invitation, and then you can burn it to block a vault as surv or make a palette fragile as killer, or you can keep it and get a cosmetic. And to use the special power you press a button that's specific to the event (which I assumed would be Y on controller)".
Can someone explain the floaty things to me, and tell me how I accidentally used my invitation, and what the cooldown ring around the invitation icon means?

I don't know if the floating dancers have anything to do with it but a killer exposed me with one too. The reason I think they might have something to do with it is the option isn't always available when I'm killer.
Do survivors get a speed boost around them or some other crazy boost? Why the mystery?
On my controller Right stick click does it.

yeah, I finally noticed that it says R3 to use an invitation. this last match was even more confusing; I got 2 invitations and never used them, and toward the end of the match my invitation icon turned gold and didn't show a number anymore? What does this all mean? This is way too complicated and unintuitive.

I read somewhere if the gates open or hatch and you have one you get a cosmetic reward. I'm confused what getting more than one does though.
So the cakes are useless after event ends or only usable on anniversary?
I'm trying to avoid unlocking them as I have too many already that's why I ask.

The floaty things around you are how many invites you have. Max 2
You can use them in chase only, whether you're killer or survivor
It turning gold means you held at least 1 charge when an exit was open (gate or hatch). congrats, you earned a cosmetic.

Basically, the floating dancers are just decorations as far as i can tell, they disappear as soon as you approach them and don't affect your masquarade invite.
The way this event works is that you need to collect an invitation and have at least 1 invite charge available when the End Game Collapse triggers by any means, when the masquarade invite icon turns gold during the End Game Collapse and you can't use it anymore, it means that the invite has been redeemed and you've unlocked a Masquarade Mask for a character.

Just needs to be an exit open, whether gate (which always triggers EGC) or hatch (which doesnt)

When you gain an invitation it will have 1 charge. Being in a chase for a certain amount of time will add a second charge up to a maximum of two. When you use your special ability it consumes one charge. In order to receive the cosmetic mask you must have at least 1 charge when the EGC triggers. The balloons I am still unsure of myself.

Weird, because i've had the invite be redeemed as soon as i close a hatch and trigger the End Game Collapse.

I’ve not seen it from the devs but I assume it’s like any past anniversary offering and will never expire. I’d suggest hoarding them.

I did hope this to be the case but I rarely see them offered in normal play. What is with people just collecting them and not using them. Makes no sense to me.

Any idea what triggers the exposed for killer or other power for survivor?
Windows/pallets I get but the exposed etc seems random or do you just need 2 charges for that?
0 -
Because they're limited; they'll never show up again. It's not a fact of people hoarding them, it's a fact of they simply all eventually get used. Sure there may be a few exceptions, but most of the time people will keep only 1 and use the rest

also, does the invitation aura only show up for survivors? when I play as survivor I can see it, but when I play as killer I can't. Maybe the survivors are just getting it before I notice it?

rather, as survivor I can SOMETIMES see it; this last match as survivor I never saw it. I wonder if this masquerade is just really really buggy because they tried to do way too many things with it at once?

You have to use the Terrormisu to see the aura. Anyone can collect them however
1 -
my guess is they testing the new nick cage perks. spawning pallets and blocking windows.
2 -
I've only played as survivor so far, but they're hard to find. I feel like I only see them when I'm within a certain distance from them.

yes! thanks! I just finally saw that in the description. :D

I wish I could change the activation button; it seems to be either L3 or R3 will work, and it keeps randomly going off during chases; I guess I must be accidentally pressing L3.

Bloodlust, I think.

Well, you can see the aura without the Terrormisu, but the range is extremely small, like 5 meters or something, only useful when you walk near it but it's behind a wall. The Terrormisu increases it to 32 meters.

yup , seems to be bloodlust activates the exposed option 👍️

The weirdest thing was the use invitation button was bound to Q by defauly and i have a azerty keyboard.
So I would randomly get buffs everytime i strafed left and it took me a while before i realised what was happening

I keep randomly getting buffs playing on controller, and apparently I accidentally press R3 a LOT. Wish I could just bind it to Y button.
