What is wrong with Wesker and why does everyone like it so much?
Even when he was released, I asked myself this question. While everyone was madly happy playing for him, I did not understand how one could get at least some positive emotions from this cripple.
To begin with, let's compare it with a similar and strongest of the Nurse. Her limitations are understandable and quite fair. She initially moves slowly and, in case of an unsuccessful teleport, she will have to rest before continuing, but all this is compensated, as it is not difficult to guess, by teleports through objects.
Demogorgon will be next.He has teleporting pits that allow him to freely move around the map (even to the basement to the hanging surv yes yes thanks bhvr) and his main ability allows you to shorten distances with almost no initial delay, in addition, he can break her palets, which simplifies life many times.
So what about Wesker? His ability has a long start and also a long finish, maybe it's at least strong? No. The hitboxes that the survs always complained about were fixed not on the hunter and the blight who hit with his back, but on this poor fellow.well maybe during the chase and a loop it will be useful?the structure next to each palette (small pebble or wooden box) will simply not allow you to catch a survivor with your ability. But wait, we have an insane unique ability to jump over pallets and windows, this will definitely help us.Alas, while you charge the ability and climb over and then oh yes, rest again, the surv will already be on the other side of the pallet, but this can also be fixed, the red addon allows you to break pallets just like a demogorgon (which does it just like that) just before that you have to charge the ability again, then break the palette (if someone chasing the wesker throws it off) and rest again.
What we have as a result is the ability to hit surv like a sniper in order to be able to injure while catching the perfect moment where the survivor will be in an open field, because if God forbid there is at least something next to him, any thing wesker will not be able to grab him.
His ability doesn't help with gene control or quick capture, rather it only harms everything that this ability is really needed for a little movement around the map

A killer with a high skill ceiling, strong and rewarding power, that's mechanically demanding, usable in creative ways, with sufficient counterplay and also pretty versatile?
Nah, that sounds like a disaster.

There are a lot of fans of the RE series (even 5) and with Wesker, he's easy to pick up and play. That's just how it is with any killer.

As survivor i like wesker or billy because both leave room for counterplay based on skill. sure you die on some point but until then you have fun if the killer and you are on the same skill level.

Until all the killers are as good at everything as Wesker (+ it's also fun to throw survivors in objects), you will continue to see only him. BHVR literally made the most balanced and interesting killer in the game, so I perfectly understand his popularity.

all this description is suitable for blight but not for wesker wesker literally doesn’t have one interesting feature, no techniques and the like. he is straight as a line.

His Power is simple in application. You dash forward. It's easily understandable.
His Power gives immediate results. You move forward, and will hit or not hit a Survivor. And on a success it gives a very impactful visual/effect of tossing the Survivor or slamming them.
His Power allows for trick-shots. After the initial Dash, you have a window in which you can dash again, meaning the first dash can be used to prime the next dash, giving an increased skill-cap without adding much complexity.
Nurse constantly has you looking at the ground and ceding control of movement as a result of exhaustion, a built in negative that should be loaded into power preparation/cooldown/use, not afterwards with player controls. Even a "successful hit" will "punish you". She also cannot play normally without using her Power. So you always have to use it.
Wesker plays with, and feels like, he has a lot of agency in how he uses his power, even given its simplicity. And its limitations feel naturally constrained. Not artificially. (Why can't I move when tired, why do I always have to look down as Nurse?)
Not to mention Wesker is quite the egotistical character whose quips probably strokes people ego.

Tell me you don't understand how Wesker works without telling me you don't understand how Wesker works. Wesker is probably one the five strongest killers in the game. There is more to him than you think, believe me.

Consider that a little inspiration of what you can do with him.

Exactly. Playing against weak killer with light counterplay is a lot of fun while the poor guy is panting like hell you just press the a or d button and he lost the fight.

I admit this guy surprised me, but even here there are some nuances, all these tricks are made in the same designs, which can be either too little or not at all on a particular map.Do I have to rely only on such places and drive the survivors there?

exactly which why people tend to have fun vs demo and blight when he's not running certain addons. Most of these people can move a good amount distance in chase fast but with room to dodge on the survivor in like u said. Even nurse is pretty fun to me.

Watch the whole video, then go and find some of his other videos. The rebound tech is possible at every single pallet / a vast majority of all objects (not always the best play but possible none the less). Wesker's hug tech is a bit more complex. I can't give you the exact details on that one but I'm sure someone already made a video about that.
Wesker is incredibly hard to play like this but much more deadly than you give him credit for. And about that clip you uploaded earlier, that looked like a server issue. You were frozen for a fraction of a second and that only ever happens when a hit is validated in this game.

I will become a wesker main to prove to myself and others that he is bad as hell. I think this will be the reason for my motivation. Thanks for the guidance.

Speak for yourself. I rarely lose with wesker. He is insanely strong when you really put the time in.

I play him because his voice lines are cool and I’ve always liked wesker and his power is extremely satisfying especially when you get a throw against like the tip of a object hitbox

I dislike Wesker because
A) I just play against him too much. Same as Huntress used to be. When half your matches are against one killer, it stinks.
B) Most of them use Lethal Pursuer it sucks to have a killer on you in less than three seconds of the start of the game.
C) Latency issues make him difficult to counter at times. Very difficult. Like sometimes he appears to be abandoning chase walking away and then all of a sudden he's hitting you with his power. Feels bad man.
I don't hate Wesker and understand that for the most part people play as him because he is well designed from a killer point of view (and probably balance POV as well). I just would like to see less of him.

He's strong, a blast to play, enjoyable to face (in a vacuum) and has a high skill cap.

There are few other Killers who are also really great like Blight, Oni but just Wesker is the most fun one. Like you dash on someone, grab them in process and fly with them next 20 meters. Just so gooood.

He's frustrating to go against rn because of his power interaction at pallets and windows. Either because of how he is in the game or because of the servers being noticeably different recently, its quite annoying to vault and suddenly get grabbed after already vaulting.

This and the Killers after him are all meh.
