Xbox considered buying BHVR
According to a news article from IGN, Xbox was reeeally considering buying BHVR at one point until they decided against it. What are your guys thoughts on this? Personally I think it would be a huge waste of money……ehhh no offense BHVR.
if they did manage to buy them would that mean certain characters, chapters, outfits, and charms would be Xbox/gamepass only exclusives? Hmm y’know, a State of Decay 2 or a Gears of War chapter doesnt sound that bad….let me know what you guys think.

But then what about Steam, Sony and Epic
We would lose a lot more then we would gain if that were to happen

Most likely very little would change. It wouldn't be the first time Xbox would have bought a company, and it's almost guaranteed the game would've continued to have content released on other devices.
The most that would've happened would be Xbox users maybe getting certain deals with Game Pass (which even then has happened before with The Curtain Call chapter, The Legions "High-Vis Horror" set and Yui's Kumi-Daiko Performer" set all being given to Game Pass users for free).
So in conclusion, very little would change other than Xbox users getting some content for free. The game is already on Game Pass so not like they could do much more than throwing certain content to the players.

They wouldnt remove a game thats already published on those platforms. They’re not as bad as Sony when it comes to exclusives. They’ll most likely just make certain cosmetics exclusive to xbox and gamepass

When Xbox buy company, they allows existed games in all platforms with new content.
They bought Bethesda but ESO and F76 still gets new content on all platforms.
Same goes for Minecraft.
So even if they buy BHVR, DbD will stay on all platforms with new contents. But new titles from BHVR will be exc most likely.

Sony istn event that bad with exclusives anymore. Almost everything comes to PC now.

Rarely

If it does happen... would BHVR get new coders, writers, testers... so on and so forth
Also... we might get console optimizations for the first time
But really if: Sony, Xbox, Nintendo and Steam all had a hand in buying out BHVR... what would happen

I dunno about the others but Xbox buying BHVR just might be the best thing for the company. They wouldnt have to worry about losing another license due to financial problems anymore since Microsoft is a trillion dollar company and they would actually have the money to improve the game massively.

Rarely? all their big first party games are on PC now, even The last of us and Ratchet and Clank.

A Halo chapter would be sick. Make the Arbiter or a Zealot the killer with Chief or Cortana as the survivor.
A killer with an energy sword or grav hammer would damn near be my favorite thing in the game

Interesting, though I'm not sure why they would have considered it in the first place. I can't see what they would have expected to gain.

Probably just as well they didn't. When big companies like microsoft get their claws into smaller companies they tend to ruin games.
Look at what happened to halo. The original 3 games were amazing. Soon as microsoft got a hold of it the last 3 games have been absolute dog #########.
I find smaller companies tend to make better games. They care more about making a good game versus just churning out prepackaged crap for quick turn arounds. I'd hate to see a big company get any influence over dbd.

Don't forget gears got screwed up with a bunch of nonsense.

I saw the news, but I was much more occupied by Sega being one of the companies that Microsoft was looking at. Didn't even know BHVR was there tbh

Anything will be happen, if give us crossprogression i will agree. Im desperate to leave Sony, but, no without my 5 years progress

For reference, Xbox bought Arkane and then they released Redfall lol. Market consolidation is generally bad for the consumer.
3 -
Steam wouldn't be affected kinda like how PC used to have Bill and console didn't, left for dead was a Xbox game not on PlayStation, I wouldn't expect PC to notice a difference, I can literally sign into Xbox on my PC with game pass and access all their games and even start chats with Xbox players it's basically just like owning a Xbox built in to your PC.

People say that about Microsoft all the time but dont realize that Microsoft doesnt even touch their studios because they have a “hands off” approach when they make games. They let them do whatever they want with their games.

Redfall was in development years before Microsoft acquired them. They were forced to make a multiplayer game that would make Zenimax a lot of money back when the entire company was in financial troubles.

In recent years it seems that Sony is trying to buy exclusivity deals with companies, much like the way that Epic Games is competing with Steam.
Cheaper than buying out the company, and fingers can be pointed at the company that "took the deal from the devil".
But basically they're trying to gain market dominance to steamroll competition using FOMO tactics rather than being a better platform or a platform that offers unique services not provided (or supported) by others.

Basically to prevent Sony from setting up exclusivity or early-access deals with BHVR.
However given that BHVR's cash cow is already highly cross-platform and cross-licensed, it's unlikely that they'd even agree to an exclusivity deal for any mainline content.
Not to mention the Canadian government, especially Quebec's gov't, would likely have many words to say about that. They're pretty nationalistic.

I mean that quite frankly might be why they're taking a more hands off approach when it comes to established titles/companies, acting more as a financial/logistical framework. Look what happened with HALO.
Better to provide some economy of scale services through being a network of major companies (and thus shared licenses/technologies/workforce) and exchange trade as a result of those services rendered, instead of burning out for short-term profit.
Of course I support the skepticism, especially when it comes to that kind of parent company relationship when it comes to a pure buy-out.

thats microsoft, not sony lol.
microsoft is trying to buy activision rn, not sony.

Nothing would change.
Even with the recent purchase of Activision/Blizzard, nothing will change. It would hurt Xbox to make anything that's already got a large following exclusive
0 -
Microsoft is OK with Steam, all the Xbox "exclusive" games are getting PC versions in Steam, Starfield for example.
0 -
And Sony is keeping games away from Xbox. FF 16 is just out and PS exc.
0 -
Timed exclusive rn. And Xbox is doing the same with halo, starfield and grounded for example.
0 -
They say timed exclusive to distract you from the fact that it's never coming.
Final Fantasy 7 remake was also a "timed exclusive" for a year according to Sony. It's 4 years later and it still hasn't come to Xbox.
Sony are massive hypocrites
0 -
Probably would not have changed anything for anyone other than some money going here and there instead of there and here. But still same game and same devs and same players.
0 -
It's not time exc, FF 16 will never come to Xbox. And all of games you said Xbox's owns game, not 3rd party.
0 -
Probably would’ve gotten Xbox logo cosmetics
0 -
How is that a difference? Its still exclusives.
besides that, Sony owns naughty dog for example so it doesnt matter.
why is it fair for one side but not the other? You can complain about it, i understand that. But then also complain about the other side who is doing the same instead of defending them.
0 -
If we include first part games, Sony is doing same thing as well lol. Uncharted, God of War, Las of Us, Horizon, GoT, Spider-Man and more. They all are exc games.
So it's not only Xbox doing this.

Do you think you could link the article?
0 -
They are not Playstation exclusive anymore tho.
3 -
Lol they kinda redeemed it though. Gears 4 was utter trash but gears 5 was actually really good.
1 -
From the point of view of xbox is a waste of money.
For us as users, may be with microsoft servers and programmers could help bhvr.
0 -
What do you mean lol? They are PS exc. If you mean they are coming to PC, so Xbox games. PC is neutrall area.

thank you
