Thoughts on “comp” dbd and would you watch or participate?

The setup alone would put me off from wanting to sit through and watch - I feel it could all be streamlined so easily if BHVR put a little more effort into custom games.
Don't get me wrong - I'd love for Comp DBD to be more popular but with lack of support it's hard to get into both as a viewer and the desire to potentially want to try it personally. I used to be heavily into the dota2 comp scene and prior Team Fortress 2 and even with support from Valve sometimes the delays made it hard to enjoy in the early stages of both. Can't really imagine the patience some have in regards to DBD.
I wouldn't make fun of the actual players in any tournament as it is typically out of their control with technical issues arise. Sucks if you competed and got flak for it but hey that's cool you were in a tournament - hope you had a good time for the most part.
To be quite honest though the ball is mostly in BHVR's court on this one. Better spectator tools would go along way for creators in the DBD community although I get there is no direct financial incentive to do so which is why we likely won't see changes for a while if ever.

Some people enjoy it.

If you can play Friday the 13th The Game competitively, you can definitely play DBD competitively.

DBD has way too many variables to be played in a professional competitive setting, whether it be because of perks, add-ons, offerings, items, and even smaller things like RNG in the map tile system and certain survivors being more advantageous to use than others (in a sense of stealth). Not only that but the current comp community for DBD is stupidly toxic for whatever reason.

Just because something can be done doesn't mean it should be done. F13 had a tiny comp scene that was incredibly niche within a niche does that mean it was good? No.
People can find ways to play a lot of games competitively, but if the game itself is highly incompatible with being played and viewed that way then it isn't going to do well.

No. Absolutely not. Dead by Daylight comp scenes tend to revolve around both sides playing as efficiently as possible with very little room for error. This means leaving someone on hook for as long as possible, and slamming out gens as quickly as possible. For Killer, this means getting someone out of the match as quickly as possible.
Dead by Daylight is competitive in nature, but it is not a competitive game like Overwatch. It's more akin to how Monopoly and Mario Party are competitive, yet casual. You'll see high MMR killers moaning about how XYZ Perk is absolutely busted because high MMR survivors play near perfectly. That, in turn, means killers have to play in a way that minimizes the potential for mistakes.
I just don't see how playing that way can be considered fun.
