Is Slippery Meat inferior Deliverance?

While deliverance requires you unhook someone safely as well as have a curse attached to it (you usually get hooked first), what's the point of bringing Slippery Meat. I did the math and it seems using up all your attempts results in unhooking every other game (I think it's close to 50%), so unless you bring that ace perk and Salty Lips it pretty meh. And to have it work consistently you have to commit a lot of resources, as well as your team (if you're in a SWF).

Basically I can only imagine it covering Deliverance's weakness if you get hooked while not having unhooked anyone, and your team is getting slugged/sacrificed soon. Which even then, you have to hope the RNG gods smile to you.

I tried running it with Renewal, but that perk is so hard to activate, unless you completely heal a teammate alone.

Does anyone use it? Is there any other perk than can synergize with it besides Up the Ante?

Slippery Meat is lucky gamble perk that is only decent when you run luck offerings and Luck perk from Ace. It doesn't reguire anything other than having a luck. It's more of a fun perk than a serious one.

I'm just trying to find a niche use for it. Even No Mither can synergize with certain perks.

Only time I ever used it was in a 4-stack with my friends where we all brought it with Up the Ante and luck offerings which made hook escapes near guaranteed within 6 attempts. This was on old Haddonfield (which we got by random chance, no offering) and all 4 of us unhooked ourselves. We still lost because we were against a Nurse and we were just messing around for the most part, but it was fun regardless. That's pretty much the only scenario where I would say Slippery Meat is worth it though.

This ^ but even then I still wouldn't really count on it. Deliverance is still better, despite it's curse ;P

It’s one of those builds where if you commit to it and use it for like 50 games in a row you can get some clutch escapes

It can actually be better than deliverance, but only if you do like a 4 stack. If all the survivors bring the 3% luck offering and use slippery meat you each get 6 attempts total and each attempt has a 20% chance to unhook yourself. You can increase this to 29% chance if you also bring up the ante. This means that, barring bad luck, you are GUARANTEED to unhook yourself, statistically speaking. But with no requirement.

4 stack teams can be really awful with this. There is a game otz played a while back where the team did this and he had a really rough time against them.

In those cases, yes, it can be guaranteed, but you need a SWF for it. I was just trying to come up with a different way to play it. Are there any other perks that go with it. Like theoretically I thought of Renewal, since it cannot work with say Deliverance, it could with Slippery Meat, but I have not been lucky in my solos to earn it before getting hooked (even if someone gets injured we end up double healing and that doesn't quite charge it).

You can use for the people for renewal, but you have to like, let it tick for a bit before you use it for some reason.

It used to let you slip out of traps easier. I miss that.

That's interesting to hear, although I guess for Trappers it sucked.

I'm sure it did, but back then you were really relying on a teammate to free you. I remember taking the perk and it took me nearly half a minute to free myself, so it wasn't like a 'free trap escape' either.

Edit: I don't want to sound callous toward Trappers, as I certainly don't think their kit should be countered by a single perk, and so easily. I'm pretty sure that's why they removed it. I wonder if they should change it to like... one long escape bar and you get out when done, like Pig Traps but without skill checks. A second teammate can speed the process.

    @JustAnotherNewbie

I have primarily been using Up The Ante and Slippery Meat as part of my go-to build since Feb. 2017 (the other two perks in the build being Ace In The Hole and Plunderer's) so I might be able to provide some insight.

There are some advantages to using Up The Ante and Slippery Meat over Deliverance:

    Advantages:

    1. You can start healing as soon as you unhook yourself. This is pretty important depending on the situation as you can then take an extra hit whereas with Deliverance, you cannot and will not be able to for 76 seconds total (60 seconds Broken + 16 seconds to heal)
    2. Regardless of rescuing a survivor first or not, you will have six attempts of escape off the hook with at least an 8% chance per escape. These odds are increased for each survivor still alive (1 Survivor=11% per attempt, 2 Survivors=14% per attempt, all Survivors=17% per attempt)
    3. Even if you fail to unhook yourself or if you are rescued, Up The Ante's effects remain an open option for the rest of your team, serving as a fifth perk to support them

    Disadvantages:

    1. Highly luck-based as Deliverance is a guaranteed 100% chance
    2. Slippery Meat is a wasted perk slot if you fail to unhook yourself or are rescued
    3. Dying before your teammates causes Up The Ante's effects to go away, removing the luck buff to your team

To answer the next part of your question, yes, other perks can synergize relatively well with Slippery Meat.

    1. Resurgence grants 50% to your healing progress after unhooking yourself
    2. Reactive Healing grants 50% to your healing progress if another survivor loses a health state within 32 meters of your location
    3. Solidarity heals yourself when you heal other survivors at a 50% conversion rate

Something I've noticed with making perk builds is that it is beneficial to have multiple perks support multiple factors rather than all 4 perks dedicated to one area. For example, half of the build I use is dedicated to self-unhooks while the other half is for better items from chests. If you don't want to use Up The Ante, I think Solidarity and Resurgence would be your next best bet as unhooking yourself then healing a teammate can increase your team's efficiency as a whole. You then have 1 open perk slot for something else. Otherwise, you could run Slippery Meat on its own just to have that emergency option, but it won't be as consistent. Hope this helps.
