can a dev give me an honest answer on why david has been getting neglected since he came out as gay? like im not saying that its intentional but its weird

Idk, maybe because he’s not as popular and isn’t one of their money maker survivors? David is not the only survivor who hasn’t gotten many cosmetics, so I don’t know why it’s “weird”.

But you are implying it, because you mentioned him being gay in connection to his lack of cosmetics. I feel like some people want this to be the case because every time I see the subject of cosmetics for David brought up his sexuality is always mentioned.

Im not sure if this is true but I'm guessing jonah has way fewer skins than David king, so I guess it's due. If not let me know though.

Ok then maybe a bunch of hetero males stopped using David after he was confirmed gay because they could no longer relate with that character? It would explain the drop in his pick rate, but still isn’t weird.

A lot of players dropped David after he was revealed to be gay. Now that few people play him there's less point in releasing skins because they wont make as much money.
So it -kinda- is because he's gay but more due to the player reaction to it. If so many players didn't drop him, he'd likely be getting more skins.

I think its going to get much worse as time goes on. There will always be a problem somewhere. The devs literally go out of their way to highlight the lgbt community year around, especially in June and people still think they are not genuine in their support.

David has issue with costumes like other unpopular survivors.
Adam did not got any costume for long time and he got some lately. Same goes for Jeff, Jane, Jonah, Haddie, Jake etc. You see these survivors are getting costumes rarely.
Because making costumes is not free. And when you use money for it, you will expect to get some profit.
You have survivors which guaranteed moneymakers: Kate, Mikaela, Meg, Claud, Nea, Yun Jin, Vittorio, Dwight, Felix etc. Would you focus on your moneymaker characters or characters which has pretty small playerbase? Answer is clear.
David deserves some costumes but i don't think they are not making costumes because he is gay. They stopped make them because David is not popular anymore. A lot people stopped play him after he revealed as gay. You can't force people to play him, so if he won't get more players most likely his costumes will be rare like other unpopular survivors.

Thats a reach. Because him being revealed gay gave him more players as well within the lgbt community. I believe its simply due the fact that he isnt getting many skins as of now which is why you dont see him often and others are getting new skins. I rarely saw yunjins last year but now im seeing her more after getting more skins. It really correlates to who is getting skins at the moment.

This is not always true. Ofcourse, Yun Jin had potential to rise. And when she got some new and decent costumes, we started see her more. But this did not work with Adam, Haddie, Jeff and Elodie. These survivors got new costumes but yet, still they are not popular.
But ofcourse they should give some costumes to David. He did not get any new costume for almost a year.

I swear most of the people do this because they want to be feel ,,attacked“ for some reason so they come up with stuff like this even tho it has nothing to do with it.
David got alot of outfits already and there are alot of characters who also didnt got any outfits since a long time.

Ok i see your point. But i just wanted to say its not good to say that a company stops giving a survivor skins because of their sexual orientation reveal. Its like giving the impression that behavior, a company that supports the lgbt community, are giving bigots a win by neglecting a character because they stop playing him. Yea he lost some players from that, but he gained some as well and made an impact in real issues than any survivor on the roster.
And i must say i still hold my ground on skins being tied to playability athough i do agree with your point. Because i actually have seen more jeffs, adams, and haddie due to new skins. But i have not seen more elodies. Most likely because her recent skin wasnt great and it was just one outfit over many months

To be fair, this could be part of BHVRs change when it comes to which characters get cosmetics. Jonah is very unpopular, but is getting more cosmetics recently. Same with Haddie, which even got announced by BHVR. So it can be the same thing, just because they only mentioned Haddie does not mean that she is the only one getting more Cosmetics.

DId someone check if this is even an outlier? If I am not mistaken, even before knowing that he is gay, David was not as popular as other Survivors when it comes to Skins.

David used to get more skins but he's never been one of the Chosen Ones who get featured in every collection. Him being gay and not getting cosmetics is only related by the fact that he dropped in popularity after being confirmed gay. More popular characters get more skin, he was more popular before people knew he was gay, so now he doesn't get as many. It's disappointing but not really surprising tbh.
And unrelated but I love how you said "since he came out as gay" as if he became sentient and said he's gay out of his own free will

Saying "David hasn't had a cosmetic since his coming out" is the same thing as saying "Wraith hasn't had a cosmetic since the last anniversary", it's just to say it's been a long time.
I promise you using the words "gay" or "coming out" really isn't that big of a deal. As you can see per this discussion there's way more people crying about "what do cosmetics have to do with him being gay" than they are people actually making it about him being gay. Y'all just freak out whenever something reminds you gay people exist.

But its silly to use sexual preference as an argument for everyting that you are not liking.
When you abuse it like that, people stop taking it serious. So next time something important comes up that actually is related to sexuality, no one will take it serious, because "oh thats just another thread abusing the gay word to get their will"
The lack of cosmetics are not related to sexuality at all, Nea just got yet another outfit and so did Trickster.

Just out of interest, does David being revealed as gay coincide (roughly) with any Dead Hard nerfs or adjustments? For the most part, the only reason people play certain Survivors is to get their perks. Dead Hard, of course, has been substantially nerfed fairly recently, but a lesser change previously could have produced the slow decline we've seen in his use.
I imagine for a lot of newer players, David being free and (at the time) having the best perk in the game would have influenced his pick rate to a significant degree. DH nerfed = less people playing him to get his perk/lower use rate = less costumes. Of course, on top of that, being free, once people start buying characters, they're going to be less likely to go back to ones they haven't paid for. Meg is the exception in that respect but she also has really good perks, so there's an endless stream of newer players using her to unlock them. Good perks = higher, more consistent use rate = more costumes.

Dwight, Meg, Nea and Claud are popular survivors tho. And all of them are free and have decent perks. They have good playerbase, not only new players. Also veterans plays them as well.
David and Jake are not popular tho even they are free as well. But both of them have garbage perks, maybe that's why new players are not picking them.

All I have is my own experience and while David was never like -super- popular, he was always fairly popular because he's free. Within a month or two of him being revealed as gay I noticed playing with and playing against far fewer Davids.

Right after it was announced I saw him used a ton more than usual, and since going back to normal usage I haven't noticed much difference. But there have been like 6 more survivors released since then and a ton of cool skins in the store or events or rifts. 4 more male survivors have gotten shirtless or revealing cosmetics, 2 of those being on or right after their release.
Not saying some people didn't stop using David because he's gay, but to claim it's a lot and for that specific reason is a huge stretch with no actual evidence to back it up.

It’s pretty easy to assume that a lot of hetero males stopped playing David after he was revealed to be gay. It’s not even close to be a stretch.
Again as somebody mentioned, DH is not sought after anymore, so that also plays a part.

Not, it's really not easy to assume. Especially if you're going to throw around words like "a lot." What's a lot? 500? 1000? In comparison to how many tens of thousands of players there are? That's not a lot lol. What about David mains who just stopped playing the game for other reasons? There are a ton of reasons David may be played less (and we do not even know if that's actually true btw) and there's no reason to assume "a lot" of them suddenly decided to stop maining David simply because he's gay.
Personally, I don't main any survivors. I play the new ones when they come out and then go back to others when they get skins I like. Somebody could assume I don't play David because he's gay, but I don't because there are like 30 other characters with new skins coming out weekly.
