When is the kill switch gonna happen on skull merchant?
I'm tired of an aggressive 3-gen at the start and playing on solo makes it even harder when your teammates ignore her trying to 3-gen and allows it to happen
I'm tired of my games taking 30 minutes long when I'm playing against her and would rather die on the hook than play against her at this point
she isn't fun to play against and I hope the rework does a better job why was there no kill switch for her yet?

People not liking the killer isn't a reason BHVR is going to killswitch her (as much as I'm sure people would like it to happen)
13 -
The devs only killswitch stuff when there's a bug involved, not when players find it annoying.
13 -
Skull Merchant is working as intended and thus not valid for a killswitch.
8 -
behavior already said they were gonna killswitch her when they were doing the rework on her because they know her 3 gen is such an issue for a lot of people
0 -
Proof cause AFAIK they've never once said that
8 -
Huh your actually right sorry I guess it was from a video I watched that talked about kill-switching her
1 -
While this is true, Skull Merchant 100% deserves to be Killswitched and reworked entirely.
But I guess most Skull Merchants will play PvE anyway at this point.
4 -
I feel bad for the bots that practically only get to play against SM
8 -
I’m sick of going against 3 Gen skull merchants and getting a dc penalty if we leave we shouldn’t have to endure the mental torture that is playing against the skull merchant why did you guys ever think this killer was gonna be fun to play against

Kill switch is for game breaking bugs, not unfun strategies, and it should stay that way. We don't need to give the DBD community the belief they have the power to have anything they don't like kill switched. Ask BHVR to rework her faster or fix gen spawns to stop three generators from spawning within spitting distance of each other (or both).

Behaviour don’t care they just act like this isn’t an issue

They've literally said that they are working on changes for her kit and for the separate issue of gens spawns. In the short term they have buffed Deja Vu to help survivors find and break up 3 gens.
Changes take time and they have an very packed schedule that they most likely can't just throw off considering there is another licensed chapter coming up.

they usually don't kill switch things unless it's crashing the game I reported a bug before for them on Ormond map and they just said that it's not affecting the players gameplay which I showed them an Evidence of that bug affecting gameplay

Kill switching is for game breaking bugs. It is not for strategies that people hate playing against.

No matter how much yall want her gone it's not going to happen. The devs have already said that they are working on a system to 3 genning on every killer and they have said they have buffs/changes plan for SM. No matter how many posts you make or how loud you moan about SM they not going to killswitch her just bc yall find her annoying. If they did do that then they would have to killswitch pretty much every killer that has an annoying playstyle like Bubba, sakoto, and ect. Do I want SM changes? Yes but not at the cost of her being disabled 6 months to a YEAR! This dev team doesnt have the time or resources to start reworking a killer and have it out the door within a few months.

Now I'm just imagining the bots going on strike

I like to imagine a future where the bots get clinical with breaking SM’s three gens

IDK. At least I stopped playing survivor thanks to her and current-iteration of Onryo. If more people feel the same, then them loosing money from skins could be more hurtful then them loosing money from purchasing her

There seems to be a misconception that bHVR is still a small indie company. They have over 1,200 employees and it’s fair to say a vast majority of them work on DbD as it’s their only big project and more than likely responsible for 90+% of their profit. They make more than $300 million per year.
They definitely have the resources to do these fixes and changes.

No, you don't understand game design and being part of dev team/company. The number of ppl doesnt matter really. The time and resources that they have are already being taken up by projects they are working on right now. They can't just drop everything they are working on to rework one single killer. They can't just create time in the day either or hire more ppl. I never said they were a small indie company, they are not, but they do have higher ups(investors) to answer to and they have deadlines that need to be met. They are most likely busy right now working on the next 4 killers, maps and ect. Im not just saying all this, Peanits said as much in a thread about why devs are afraid to buff weaker killers(https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3480436#Comment_3480436).
That said will SM be changed or see buffs/nerfs? Yes, they will get around to it when they can but ppl need to be patent and reasonable. The killswitch system wasn't made to disable killers who are annoying, it was made to disable game-breaking bugs. If they did killswitch SM till she is reworked we would be looking at a paid dlc killer being unable to play for 6 months to a year since doing those type of changes take time. Look at the twins rework as an example, we have waited over a year now and still have no clue when that rework will happen. There is no telling how long the Sakoko rework took these devs to do. That rework easily could been started 6 months or a year ago.
At the end of the day it's true BHVR isn't some idle company but that doesnt change the fact that they do not have the time or resources to do a rework of a killer fast enough to justify a killswitch. If they could do that rework in a few months sure but we all know, including the devs themselves, that is not possible.

Also the statement of 1200 employees is very deceptive. We have no way to know what the exact number is working on DBD and BHVR is working on more than just DBD. Even if the claim that 90% of those employees were on DBD was true, don't forget that DBD also has people working on the sound, new cosmetics, and a team dedicated to interfacing with the community and those people don't work on balancing/reworking killers.
Of course it's easy for people to criticize BHVR's prioritizes when they don't understand what it's like to work on a team for a big project where each team has a specific focus.

Another thing that gets under my skin is the idea that a big company can just hire more ppl to make the work go faster. That's not how game development works XD It's just so silly and I wish more ppl did research on what goes into making the video game they play. Guess I know is bc I went to school for programming and wanted to be a game dev myself.

I never said anything about a kill switch or a massive rework. A lot of killers in this game could be fixed by simple number changes, not huge overhauls. Blight for example, literally just nerf his add ons and he’s totally fine, why does it take 6 patch cycles to address this? Skull merchants three gen capabilities could be addressed by simply tweaking the numbers on her drones. There’s no need for massive overhauls on most of these killers.

Well, my comment was to the OP who wanted the killer to be killswitched and I was explaining why that is not possible. The thing about SM is the devs dont see 3 genning as a SM problem. They see it as a game problem that needs to be fixed with a new system. That is what they are working on.

Oh yea, and then you have those that call the developers "lazy" or other such insults less repeatable without getting in trouble myself, as I was a programmer myself in the freaking 80's, I can't even imagine being one today. So no, they are not lazy, they are the complete opposite, and every time I hear an entitled gamer throw that insult, it makes my blood boil.

Unless she has a bug she won't be

Never, get used to it
At least not until a genuine bug appears on her

Deja vu isn’t gonna do anything to a skull merchant that 3 gens from the start of a game
Post edited by EQWashu on0 -
All any of can do is the best we can until changes to either gen spawns and Merchant materialize. Deja Vu isn't a full counter and it isn't meant to be. It is however better than nothing at all and even moreso when combined with another gen progression perk.
You really can't ask for more than that reasonably.
