The best new portraits funnily enough IMO are Quentin and Freddy, they actually did a good job on that chapter. Freddy actually looks legit scary.

Some of them are ok, others look goofy and/or terrible. Wish we had an option to choose which portraits we could have.

I love them too. Some could probably be tweaked but ultimately I think they're much more interesting than the old static ones.

There's some I like and some I don't care for at all.

But the ones for my two mains, Dwight and Mikey, I like both of them so I can live with these.

A couple aren't bad, but most of them are just awful. I was disgusted when I pulled up the character select screen. What's worse is they're also used for in-trial portraits. Looks like high school yearbook photos for some CW drama that you don't watch but still hope gets cancelled soon.

I liked the portraits from two portrait updates ago. The one from before they made the Resident Evil character portraits look oddly wet/shiny for some weird reason.

Of all the stuff they can update, why do they persist in updating things no one complained about?

Is she a joke to you?

She looks like an actor from the beginning of an anti-depression medication commercial.

Nah Freddy's makes him look like he's appalled at someone for doing something stupid. His old one was so much better.

I actually like the new Pinhead portrait. It doesn't look terrifying in the slightest, I absolutely agree, but it seems to encapsulate who Pinhead is as an individual well, in my opinion. He's sophisticated, regal, wielding his chains with no visible effort being put into the gesture.

It's been a while since I've watched Hellraiser, so forgive any misremembering on my part, but Pinhead never seemed to be trying for intimidation or fear in his audience. He wasn't even the antagonist in the first two films, instead hauling away the real villains off to where they deserve to be. Unlike plenty of horror icons who are trying their hardest to scare and slaughter, Pinhead is just... there. You opened the box, he's here now, and depending on the perspective, he can be viewed as angelic to those he appears to. Compare that to other horror movie icons who are just downright villainous or at the very least unable to be reasoned with, Pinhead is almost a saint in comparison. You actually have the opportunity to talk with the guy. Will it necessarily get you anywhere? No. But just being able to makes Pinhead far more diplomatic than most horror movie icons.

That's just my take, though. I can certainly see the appeal for a more conventionally terrifying portrait, but Pinhead just IS terrifying without having to really do anything. I think it's fitting that he's just standing there looking contemplative, but anyone who knows the character knows yeah, you're screwed now. Even if you can have a somewhat polite interaction before having your soul torn apart.
