is there a frame limit?
i use steams FPS check thingy, letting me know my FPS in a game im in on steam, and its only capped at 62 fps. my monitor is 144hz, and i dont see an FPS cap option in the in-game settings. is the game forcefully supposed to cap at 60-62 fps? or am i able to go higher? if so, how can i do that

You would have to watch a video on how to do it since it is in a weird place. You can set it to whatever you like but 120fps is the best option apparently.

You need to change in game's files.
The path is: C:\Users\[YOUR WINDOWS USERNAME]\AppData\Local\DeadByDaylight\Saved\Config\WindowsClient
Open the GameUserSettings.ini and search for the "FrameRateLimit=0.000000" line. Change the first 0 to your monitor refresh rate or other desirable number. Mine is 75hz so I use 75. If this doesn't work try to also change the same .ini in WindowsNoEditor folder.

Just clarifying,120 FPS is the engine hard cap set by BHVR for some reason. You cant uncap it higher.[

Yeah, I think that was why there was no point in setting it higher. My monitor is 240fps as well so it's a shame.

My new one is 165 and it saddens me as well. I tried VRR recently and on DBD specifically it sucks,sadly. Game drops down to 60/80s very often compared to other titles and causes pretty bad flicker.

The game is so poorly optimized for modern tech. If you're going to cap us on 120fps at least let our GPU put in some work... Making hair look more realistic wold be a nice start.

no surprise there, as dbd is run on a pretty weird or crappy engine lol. honestly i would be up for this huge movement for the game where the devs decide to completely shift to a new modern engine, as they'll be able to have more graphics options along with the probability of literally better graphic visuals in general. the new lighting in the recent update looks so awful.

Imagine DBD with ray tracing and a weather system! They can only improve the horror aspect with better graphics and definitely better animations, not some scary looking killers everyone gets used to seeing.
