why do killers never let us take glyphs?

this is just a random question to killers who don't let a single survivor take a glyph...why? if you look at it from that survivor's perspective, you'd know that it's actually annoying and hard to find them. plus letting the survivor take it would take just 5 seconds or less, why so sweaty and greedy? does anyone else feel this way? it just feels really frustrating. like come on, letting him get a single glyph won't suddenly change the whole game to a loss for you.

it's just that i'm having trouble with a green glyph challenge (only 1 out of 4) and this freddy downed me and started rotating as in "no" after as if it'd hurt him in any way if i took it, honestly what's the point? i'm pretty sure you don't like it too when other killers do the same to you when you're a survivor who's also trying to look for glyphs for a very time-consuming challenge.

when i play killer and see someone act as if they're looking for something, i try to be as relaxed as possible to not "accidently" hit that survivor with my sweaty-killer instincts and let them take one of those annoying floating balls; and when they do take them, then i immediately down them, not that hard. it's because i know the actual trashy experience/feeling of it.

not that i'm forcing you to suddenly change yourself and "feel mercy" for those survivors, just wanna know the exact reason. normal and not sarcastic/rude answers would be nice.

edit: thank God i finally completed this challenge, got all 3 in just one match during the endgame. but still, doesn't mean this isn't annoying to me anymore.

Slow reaction times and tunnel vision usually.

Playing killer can feel like a race against the clock, you need to get your downs ASAP or you will lose because gens will pop.

I've often been so preoccupied with getting the down that I don't realise until they're on the floor that "oh they were doing a glyph" or "oh they were trying to boop the snoot"

Of course dicks like that Freddy will always exist as well.

they are dicks. ignore them. respectful players like me always respect glyph if the survivor is not tbagging.

i had similar situations as killer. i'd always either "automatically" hit those survivors without even noticing that they had already given up and just tried to take the glyph or as you said, i really hurry trying to catch up to them without noticing again. that's when i'd feel bad for them, but afterwards i'd still hook them not wanting to waste a lot of time while trying to release them out of my grasp just for that glyph. but if they get unhooked i make sure i let them get them it if by any chance i accidently find them again.

what's even funnier about this freddy is that he didn't even have any reason to worry about getting gen-rushed or anything, because it was just me and another person with 3 whole gens left. don't really know why he was so in his try-hard mode when he already had a guaranteed win, so a few seconds wouldn't even change anything to him.

A Killer's whole shtick is to chase you and beat you violently about the head. If they see you standing still, it's a bit like Christmas. It isn't them being a dick, it's just the direct consequence of you standing still, probably in the open, in a game where standing still in the open is always a terrible idea. Essentially, don't stand on a train track and complain that the train isn't stopping.

Depends how they played until that situation.

I usually can't be bothered to consider this per survivor. There are actions that will make me try hard, it doesn't really matter who did it.

But if they didn't annoy me, I even let them finish gens or go for 8 hook quite often. There are actions that will instantly make go friendly mode (boop the snoot, donate item etc). They had to really piss me off, if I wil kill them anyway.

Don't ever pick donated item. There are no refunds.

not really the point. "standing still", no. they can clearly see the glyph that i'm touching at that moment, too. as a killer i saw a lot of survivors taking them, showing these glyphs and their sounds to me too. in the killer's pov i don't just "stand there" as in being afk, literally everyone can see me doing it; and the teammates, and the killer.

It doesn't really matter that you have a reason to stand still, it's that you are standing still. Again, a Killer chases you and hits you; just because you voluntarily forgo the chase doesn't mean they have to forgo the part where they hit you. Standing on the train tracks, etc.

When I’m playing killer if I see a survivor just standing there I don’t just hit them. It’s very obvious when someone is doing a glyph anyway…

it won't take a lot of time to hit me AFTER i'm done with the glyph. it just takes a couple seconds to do so.

I have denied quite a few glyphs on accident. When you get close to the survivor you don't think about why you got so close but you hit them. Because you're on the clock and you have to save time where you can.

And when you realize that that survivor actually did a glyph it's already too late. Basically you swing first and think later. It's nothing personal, just unlucky.
