Help me understand the Onryo changes?
So I thought that survivors would lose a carried tape if they were hooked but I lost mine after being hit. Was this always intended or did they change it from PTB to live? Also, what happens when a tape is destroyed? Do one of the tvs permanently go off? I’m sorry to bombard with questions but I haven’t played her since the update and only had 2 matches against her since.

That was a change from PTB to live, so that holding a tape is more risky. You don't want to be hit while carrying a tape.
When a tape is destroyed that survivor gets 2 stacks of condemned, no effect on other TVs, but of course they no longer have a tape in their possession so they will now need to find two TVs to remove those stacks.

Thank you. I definitely think they overbuffed her lol not that we haven’t seen those discussions already. I think they should make it so when a tape is destroyed the tv it came from is put on a longer cooldown. That could help the spam teleporting.

Having the tape be destroyed was intended, otherwise you could just smack someone twice and give them four stacks. To my knowledge this does not turn off a TV; it just leaves you with two more condemned stacks and no tape.
The downside (from the surv perspective) is that this means the Onryo can deprive you of your tape and then immediately start applying condemned to you by TPing.
No TVs ever permanently turn off, but they never did. The ones that do have a much shorter cooldown (45s, down from 100s), though.
Basically, if an Onryo wants to condemn everyone, they'll most often run the iri tape (which limits you to being able to return a tape to one particular TV) and Mother's Comb (which creates a loud noise notification whenever a tape is taken). The allows them to find you, hit you (adding two stacks and removing your tape), and then immediately start TP'ing (often to another surv who has taken a tape), applying condemned the entire time.
It's not hard to execute, and can be absolutely devastating if you don't find a tape immediately (and often even if you do). If the player is any good at all (even just decent) and is out to condemn everyone, you'll spend the match running around trying to find tapes and getting very little else done.
If you are playing as the Onryo and want to get easy wins, that's how you do it. If the team isn't coordinated, they're gonna have a bad time, and unlike the old method where you had to slug and rely on survs to spread stacks by healing, you can just snowball condemned on everyone, and you can do it quickly.
Playing that way is not very nice, though, and will not earn you any friends.

I don’t play that way no matter what killer I’m using. My first match against her today was exactly what you described: we got two gens done but after that condemned was spreading so quickly we had to constantly stop for tapes and she moried all three of my teammates. Second match I was able to grab a tape right away but my mates weren’t as lucky. Strangely enough both times I managed to get hatch which has happened for me all of maybe three times in the past few months.

Did you play Feng on Eyrie of Crows by any chance?
Then again this is probably quite common right now...

No. My matches against her were Ace on Pale Rose and Yui on Treatment Theatre.

Yeah, even if you do exactly what is prescribed to counter it, you're still largely at the mercy of RNG. If the Onryo is aggressively trying to condemn your team and you all don't find tapes immediately (which can be hard if you all spawn together), you're in trouble.
I'm an Onryo player who never really tried using condemnation as my main tactic, but after being on the receiving end of a few of those matches, I decided to try a few to see if it was in fact that easy (spoiler alert - it was that easy, even when the survs did exactly what they should have done).
I expect some changes. I wanted Onryo to be buffed, but not like this.

I agree. I always did well with her before and thought the complaints weren’t entirely justified. While I was never opposed to buffs I think they overdid it.

It's completely opposite. Holding a tape is the BEST thing to do now; unless you want to be mori'ed without being hooked once; I have video proof of it.
Every match I've had against her now is resulting in me being slugged cause she mori'ed my entire team but can't do it to me so I'm slugged till she get them and then I'm the only one hooked.

They need to rework her immediately cause this is very unhealthy for the state of the game; it's not balanced for solo-queue which is the biggest group playing this game.

For sure. Though as an Onryo enjoyer, my fear is that they'll hard nerf her and then be like "well, we tried" and leave her on the garbage pile.

Sadly that is accurate but nonetheless something need to be done about her because it's too much.
