Why you are playing DbD?
Question is on title. Answer it freely, i am asking what is keeping you in DbD and makes you play.
Me... I love DbD is being Hall of Horror. That's the biggest reason i am staying in this game.
As Jill Valentine trying survive with Cheryl Mason, Laurie Strode and Nancy Wheeler against Ghostface in Gideon Meat Plant is just very unique experience. Ofcourse i only mentioned few of them, there is a lot honorable horror characters in this game. Soon Ellen Ripley & Xeno will join the family as well.
DbD has some very good original characters as well. Like Zarina, Kate, Dwight, Blight, Oni etc.
DbD is one of the unique games ever. Hate it for balance issues but you can't deny it's very unique game.

I like chases.
I also like the strategic part of the game.
I love it when survivor and killer have to use their brain to escape a difficult situation.
I like the variety in maps, themes, characters and cosmetics.
Music is also mostly awesome.
This is the only game where I can chase ash Williams as Amanda young, sadako yamamura or the demogorgon in the spaceship from alien (looking forward to that map)
Dbd has its flaws for sure but I think we can all agree, that nobody here on the forum has no empathy for the game and it's unique feel.
It just draws you in and leaves a lasting impression.

I just like switching my brain off for awhile. My hubby likes going out on the boat, I like to kick back and play DBD lol we all have our methods of stress relief

I enjoy letting killers know they ain't shiii lol. Especially Blights.
But Dbd is the only game in my roster that can consistantly get my blood pressure going, and not the rage kind. I like the chases the most, but in general the game is fun. Gen repairs and on hook could use some user interaction buffs but its not a bad game yet.

Love a good chunk of the characters in it.

The only game I could find with a steampunk cowboy.

I love to hate it and hate to love it. Somehow it always keeps me coming back. Also, where else am I going to play Bubba, Nemesis and Michael Myers and moonwalk an entire game without my team hating on me?

The first two years I played because I really liked the game, then I played because I became a DBD streamer.
I like playing solo survivor, but sometimes I also have fun playing with friends.
Most of the time, I play as survivor, so I'm survivor main.

Cause it the best game ever despite all the complaints.

- I've been here since beta + day 1 of this game's launch and i'm gonna see this game through to the end, because i've been with it for so long, it has come to hold a special place to me that no other game does (with the exception for Payday 2.)
- The intense chases are the best kind of adrenaline for me (both when playing as Killer or Survivor), because unlike other games, this one actually gets my pulse rising.
- Nicolas Cage's inclusion as well as his perks has immensely increased my enjoyability playing Survivor.
- It is objectively THE game with the biggest collection of horror icons altogether and it has accomplished things that no other game have done before, some things people even thought to never happen. Some examples of the things this game has been the first to ever do before any other games are.
- DBD is the game in which Pinhead (& by extention Hellraiser altogether) got his first ever official video game debut since Hellraiser has existed as a franchise, every precious attempt at a video game for the IP has never seen the light of day or ended in failure, dbd is the first game ever to accomplish this in an official capacity. Also DBD is the first game ever to have Doug Bradley voice Pinhead in a video game altogether.
- DBD is the first game ever to include the version of Ash from Ash vs. Evil Dead.
- DBD is the first (and currently only) game to officially have both Silent Hill & Resident Evil together within one game, something that alot people prior never thought would ever actually happen.
- DBD is the first game ever to let you play as Sadako from Ringu and also debut Yoichi in a video game.
- DBD is the first (and currently only) game ever to feature Nicolas Cage in a video game.
- DBD is the game that has potrayed Michael Myers the closest to his movies.
- DBD has accomplished what the game [Terrordrome: Rise of the Boogeyman] could not officially do, which is bring together various horror icons within one game.
- If Jason ever gets added to this game, then DBD will be the first game ever to officially accomplish that which games like Mortal Kombat couldn't do, which is bringing together the Mount Rushmore of western horror movie icons together within one game in an official capacity. (Leatherface, Michael Myers, Freddy Krueger and Jason Voorhees)
- If Kayako ever gets added to this game, then DBD will be the first & only game ever to have Japan's 2 biggest horror icons within the same game.
Also the fact that DBD has expanded into franchise territory is probably the most exciting thing it has ever done imo, now anything is possible for how BHVR could broaden the IP as a whole, we've already seen them do so with the Legion comic, an upcoming movie, crossovers into other video games like (PUBG, For Honor & Movie or Die), spin-off games like (Hooked on You & the upcoming games from Supermassive & Midwinter.) Who knows what lies in the future going forward?
Overall for all the cons this game has, they're outweighed by the pros imo and it's just generally fascinating to watch this game grow more and more every year and frankly i'm all here for it.

It’s pretty much always been the only asymmetrical game on console most hot of the minute ones never get ported

A mixture of Stockholm Syndrome and Sunk And Cost Fallacy.
I have poured so much money and time into this game that despite the fact I haven't enjoyed it for almost a year now, I'm still playing multiple matches a day/week. If someone gave me back all the money I've spent on this game and removed it from my Steam account, I would never touch it again.

For the same reason I come to forums.
I like being tortured deep down.

It's a great game! It has flaws, but does way more right than wrong.
I like the unexpected nature of the game. Being able to mix and match perks and builds randomly adds so much flavour for me. Both roles are entertaining to play and I enjoy the unique challenges each trial brings.
It also has some great licenses and original ideas! From the licenses, both my dream ones ("Silent Hill" and now "Alien" coming up) are now in and there's plenty of possibilities in the pipeline. Original titles have also created some memorable characters, from the OG Trapper, Meg, David et al, to some really creative ideas such as Artist and Singularity. They even have dared to reach out of horror and brought in the likes of the Deathslinger, which still fits wonderfully.
I feel the game needs to have some more evolution moving forward to allow new ideas for perks and powers, but I do believe this whole game is overall great and has plenty of legs left.
Also as a side, now bots are involved, when the servers finally end, I reckon this game could then be played with bots only offline. So it may have secured an ongoing legacy. However, I doubt this game is going to end anywhere soon. It's quite the cashcow now.

Also seeing how it’s the only successful behaviour game I could genuinely see this game lasting till 2030

because i just can't stop . I'm playing this game in 2018, having seen most of the rework of new updates... leading to new, often stuffy metas, I see how the game as a whole is getting worse for me, as well as the attitude of the game developers towards it. I just can't stop. As the main killer, I am very dissatisfied with the new killers, they are all weak, but stuffy (the new onryo is the same). At times I really start to hate this game, but I still play, play, play, play and I can't stop.

Because sometimes it's pretty fun.

Because its fun and fairly casual

We just find it fun. Sure sometimes we get wana be bully swfs but the majority of games as killer are entertaining to us. We also have fun as survivor by outplaying the killer and various shenanigans we do. We just enjoy the gameplay and its just random enough that it doesn't get stale [barring how we can predict what every killer is running] (or unless we burn ourselves out on purpose).

I still play the game being as evasive as possible. I like the horror aspect of it. Memeing is fun. Pebble plays, dropping dead with PT. Stuff like that.

Because its fun when it does good

I started when the game was in alpha and I'll be honest and say the only reason I'm still here is for the licenses.

Because I can manage myself a bit better in solo queue here than I ever could in League of Legends.
But really, the concept of the game itself is great, trying to survive against a cosmic horror. Balancing could still use a ton of work, and the game can be frustrating as hell, but it has some great charm to it.

Truthfully? I've been going through a really bad depressive spell the last few weeks and DBD helps take my mind off of things.
I'm struggling to do other things I enjoy, like reading or writing, so it's nice to just shut my brain off for a couple of hours.

I used to go back and forth between DBD and Overwatch.
I have been playing Overwatch since 2016 and started playing DBD in 2020. I have been trying to play DBD more, but now its starting to get old. I have been playing Overwatch for a few years longer, however it took longer to get stales due many modes and things to do. From quickplay, comp, arcade modes, and limited time missions; it felt like there was something to always do! If you get bored in DBD of queuing for the ONE game mode offered...you're out of luck,
I think i need to find a SWF. Solo wouldn't be as bad if there was in game comms like most multiplayer games. I love the teamwork aspect, but being dead silent working with a team I cant speak with doesn't work for me. A find a group option within the game would be cool too.
Why do i keep coming back? I have a P100 Haddie and I'm working on getting my Pig to P100. I'm just holding on waiting for something to actually hook me back into the game. The rifts and challenges help because there is a sense of accomplishment. I already have every achievement, and get the new achievements every time a chapter is released. Personally, I think if another game mode was offered this games popularity would skyrocket. 2v8, comp mode, Prop Hunt, etc would be a fun!
Maybe i am wrong and the game is on an inevitable decline. I hope I'm wrong, I really love DBD.
