People who VPN
People who use VPN's when playing should be treated with the same regard that hackers are treated with.
I've seen more and more people using a VPN in the recent months and I don't know why BHVR aren't doing something about it.
Using a VPN is cheating, plain and simple

Whats cheating about trying to protect your privacy?

how does a vpn protect privacy in dbd?
2 -
Hides your IP
4 -
dbd dont leak your ip, standard steam settings do.
edit: also a ip adress is not private information
the steam settings:

DbD has had a few issues in the past. Which resulted in people getting DDoSed.
VPN protects against that.

Its not clear what OP is refering to. It just sounds like everyone who is using a VPN, independently of the reason, is a cheater.
Which is a hard accusation to people that just want to play normally.
2 -
Yeah if you try that in blue protocol, you'll be banned :) too bad it ain't the same here.

true. but if they mean people using a vpn to play on other servers, you agree that's an issue right?

I´ve had this discussion a couple of times. Where people got accused of cheating/VPNing/lag switching etc. All because during the match, someone had a higher ping.
I´ve had teammates with a ping of 400, where everyone came from a different continent and no one used a VPN.
I´ve seen servers crash and in the next minutes people sended me profile messages about how i supposedly made them disconnect due to my high ping.
People are extremely fast when its about accusing someone, when something strange happens.

that is quite the tangent.
I didn't say anything about people getting falsely accused.

Can you explain why?
0 -
Of course you didn´t.
But this thread is extremely vague on the VPN issue and yet calls them hackers.

Referring to people who change regions to get an advantage
2 -
I didnt call anyone a hacker, I said they should be treated with the same regard as hackers
5 -
No, you said they were cheating.
You really, really have to be more specific with things like that.
1 -
I can!
So, if I'm using a VPN, I can easily change my region to the US (I'm in EU) and by doing this I I am giving myself an advantage due to ping and lag

That "solution" has been debunked for almost an entire year.
DBD still has code from 2019 that leaks all participants in the lobby their IP addresses and BHVR has adamantly refused to fix it. Either because they literally don't know how to do it, or because the resources that they would have to pour into it wouldn't be worth it. Now that big name streamers have their own little matchmaking where they can't go up against hackers, there's zero pressure on BHVR to fix the cheating problem in the game which is at an all time high.
You can have that setting toggled, I still got DDOSed 6 times in the last 12 months, doesn't do much.

Why I've been ddos by someone because I didn't use one ?

I know a white hat that doesn't play DBD and when asked about this because I was concerned for my own security, it took her longer to get onto the secret parts of the web than it did to find out exactly how right you are.

Here is a better question. Do you know how VPNs work?
Lets say someone IS doing something where they are coming from Asia, they VPN to U.S., then connect to DBD.
So lets say that have some ip in asia
100.101.102.103 (fake asia ip) -> 1.2.3.4 (fake us ip) -> dbd server
So the dbd server sees someone connecting from the U.S. They can't see that someone is connecting from Asia, that is literally the point of a VPN, to hide where you are coming from. So how would you expect the devs to even do anything about this from a technical standpoint, let a lone a "should they" stand point.

By that logic you could argue sucky internet is hacking.
