now, how the hell do you go against "predicting" killers?

this is about nurse & spirit of course.

not sure about y'all but i feel as if going against them relies on your luck and predicting only. how should i guess where they're gonna teleport to? and somehow 99% of the time they predict my movements right, even when i try to mindgame them/try to make an unusual move.

as for spirit, walking un-injured while she's phasing doesn't help at all, she still somehow hits me right away after teleporting right next to me, like damn what a fortune-teller.

similar thing goes to nurse, i try to make as much distance as possible while hiding behind objects, even making circles to mess with her predicting me but the player still somehow blinks right next to me as if always seeing my aura.

this isn't really about asking for tips since i watched a lot of them, because it just doesn't really work. i just wanna see whether anyone else thinks that going against them isn't really "challenging" & fun unlike other killers, especially killers such as blight, demo, oni...because going against them actually feels like playing. but these 2? it's just more like everything depends on your luck, and most of the time it is just unluck. an "experienced" spirit/nurse will down all of us in like just 3 minutes.

don't get me wrong, i'm not asking for a "nerf" or anything. sometimes it can be fun to go against one, but as said, it's just because i chose a random path to go, which, again, was because of my random guessing-luck.

Nurse is busted in my opinion, her counterplay is almost non-existent. There are certain mindgames you can try, but they will generaly only work if the Nurse isn't an expert at her.

Spirit on the other hand is completely fine in my opinion. Ever since they changed her so you can hear where she is while phasing, she is actually very fair in my eyes. It's all about predicting, that is right, but that is a good thing.

Gameplay based on prediction means both sides have a fair chance at winning at a chase. If the survivor predicts the killers movement right, they will dodge a hit and buy their team some time. If the killer predicts the survivors movement correctly, they get a hit on that survivor. That's how it's supposed to be, and one of the game's biggest problems at the moment is that too many maps have too many pallets and windows where this prediction gameplay isn't given.

If you can react to what a killer does as a survivor, the killer will feel powerless against survivors that are good enough, because that survivor can reliably avoid getting hit due to reaction.

I think with Spirit, luck can play a bigger role however as well, which is probably what you are not enjoying about her. Against killers like Blight or Oni, you also often have to predict their next movement, but luck doesn't have the potential to play a big role with those killers because you always have visual feedback on them, which Spirit is lacking.

I quite like their gameplay from a survivor perspective. It feels refreshing when most of the time you just run around a rock for several loops. I think people would like playing against the Nurse more if she hadn't been so strong for so long. I think 7 years of the Nurse dominating the game has caused a lot of fatigue in the community.

I think it's a similar thing with the Spirit. I think she would be more liked if she were less strong. I think the difficulty in playing against her makes it hard for survivors to appreciate the uniqueness of the experience.

Playing against a player who is good, but not cracked with these killers is a lot of fun in my opinion.

Spirit I really just hope for the best. She has directional phasing but it all sounds the same to me. I just play around pallets and take guesses on where she's coming from. So yeah, not that much fun.

Nurse I enjoy going against, personally. Her chases offer variety since they're different than just standard looping. If I don't have anything to break line of sight though then it's ggs usually. I just try and be unpredictable.

spirit is mostly sound based, not predicting. unless the sounds are bugged for her again... but then again, both her and nurse have safer strats to minimize any guessing

I find it fun to play against them when they aren't way better than me.

i could be standing still against a spirit and she'd still teleport to me, somehow. i tried playing her but i don't think i have good enough headphones since everything sounds at almost the same level.

The Spirit might be using the addon which gives killer instinct when survivor is 3m away from the Spirit while phasing. Its called Cherry Blossom iirc.
