Serious question to all

If playing this game causes you so much stress and mental anguish then why the hell are you playing?

I'll use myself as an example. As most people here I work all day. After work I like to log on to dbd and pass time time and relieve some work stress. The last thing on my mind is the human on the other end of the connection. This is a video game. Period. This is not an experiment in social interactions.

I have my life to worry about. I'm not going to also worry about a faceless person in a game.

I play dbd for fun. I enjoy this game greatly. Do you know why that is? It's because I play the way I like to. If I'm forced into a certain playstyle then I'm out. BHVR knows this also applies to the vast majority of their customers.

So folks... why are YOU here?

    why are YOU here?

I stalk the forums waiting for QOL or some sort of health update that will bring me back to the fog.

I don't play games that don't entertain me, I don't find fun playing.

It's addicting despite major design flaws, I had 2 long break but there is something that make you come back for more, other asymmetrical games have all failed it's the only one, not balanced but it just works

If you are so unbothered then why feel the need to make a whole forum post about it? Not dissing you just throwing it out there. And to answer your question proper, there is no other type of game right now where you can play as or run from a psycho killer and try to escape the slasher movie. Friday the 13th has been officially killed off and we have Texas chainsaw but no guarantees it will succeed so dbd is the most logical choice for most people

Let's not mix it up here. I'm unbothered by what people think of me as a killer.

I'm curious about people's justifications for playing under such circumstances.

It causes me zero stress and anguish. I don't break a single sweat playing this game. It's a relaxing way to pass some time.

Dbd is full of really bad circumstances tho. Rng has a much bigger impact on the game then people give it credit for. Alot of times people are mad that the rng didn't quite give them an edge on coldwind for once or two pallets in the garden of Eden spawned back to back for good loop connections. There really is no one answer for what you are asking as everyone as a different point of view and alot of times they don't really understand why.

I do not stress or have a bunch of mental anguish from playing this game (thanks Duloxetine!)

However, I WAS having a bunch of stress and mental anguish from playing this game previously and I can tell you why I kept playing back then even though I was quite literally hating myself for constantly playing the game when it made me so frustrated and angry that I literally went through dozens of keyboards due to this game (which that was its own problems that DBD was bringing out, not being caused by DBD that has thankfully been addressed):

DBD is a very unique experience that you really can't get from anywhere else and when the game is fun, it is SUPER FUN. For a multiplayer game, when it's firing on all cylinders with a team of four or when you take down a very good foursome, this I dare say can be one of the most fun games you can play. Which is all I would remember. I would throw my fit, break something, uninstall forever, and then come back. Sometimes it was the same day, sometimes I would be gone a week, but eventually my memory of the frustrating games would fade while the memories of those games when everything was super fun would brighten. Unfortunately there are not really any games that I feel play like this one so I inevitably would come crawling back.

I do feel like I'm probably a bit more extreme case (I'd always had a frustration/anger issue when it comes to competing and being in chronic pain for almost four years now had turned that into a damn hair trigger) but this game, for better or worse, can really sink claws into you and never let you go. It's one of the most unique multiplayers games out there.

Because this is my comfort game and I’ve grown a connection to it. I have to take breaks sometimes for sure.

I love going back to it after a couple weeks off and feel excitement all over again.

    We actually like the game.

We generally disregard the toxicity and have fun hunting our prey like a slasher flick. Tastes all the better killing the one trying to annoy us all game and FAILED their team by being a ###.

We enjoy shenanigans we can do as survivor and try outwitting or outplaying the hunter or seeing how the hunter turns it around and outplayed us.

It's consistent enough to know what to expect in general while chaotic enough to often be entertaining.

I don't really feel the need to justify why i play dbd, i do it because i want to and that to me is enough of a reason to have.

I'm curious what you think a vast majority of their customers means?

They have openly said they are going to add an anti-camping mechanic and I don't see anything around here from anyone saying if they can't camp they quit.

Small quality of life changes that eliminate things that the vast majority of the community agree is uncalled for (camping, tunneling, the BM at exit gate, etc) is not going to impact their customer numbers in a negative way. What it will actually do, is the opposite. New players will find the game more fun and it will be easier for them to enjoy matches and stick around.

Not sure what type of forced playstyle you are talking about as the only things I ever see on the forum being called out are Camping and Tunneling. Well and the daily "Nerf Nurse" thread that is simply silly.
