Opinions on Pinhead?
I'm asking this because a friend of mine hates facing pinhead because he is apparently impossible to understand from the survivors perspective meanwhile I heard from another of my friends that Pinhead is easy to counter and that he is a weak killer

Solo survivor destroyer, team comp SWF no chance.

That's basically every killer, but I'd argue about SFW no chance.
Design - great.
Gameplay - great.
Mechanic - great.
One of the coolest aquisition DbD got.

He could use some tweaks to make him more consistant, cause he is a great pubstomper but weak against SWF.
I think the box should reveal all auras of survivors to other survivors within like 24-32m and the box no longer spawning chains if the Killer is not in the chase with the carrier, we can buff him to make him to compensate and help him against more coordinated teams. Such as reducing the slow-down after using his chains a bit and increasing the gateway distance.
Overall i'm kind of indifferent to Pinhead when im playing against him, sure he is not the most pleasant one but i think there are quite a few who are a lot more obnoxious like Legion and Trickster imo.

What is "impossible to understand from the survivors perspective" ? His power is not really complicated, but if there are understanding issues, just watch a guide or look up his stats in the wiki. Pinhead is in the upper half when it comes to strenght his. He is better against solos especially because they cannot communicate who will go for the box which leads to the killer having a better chance of getting a chainhunt or just finding the box whereas coordinated survivors have no issue against him in that regard.

Pinhead is one of the stronger killers, cause you can snowball very hard, a few mistakes from survivors and game can end just like that. if you find box quickly and run proper addons his fastkill potential is great, so he is high in my list of killers.

It was a huge disservice to see Pinhead come to the game with no map and no Kirsty... :/ Also, I'm pretty sure the license holder made them put Doug Bradley's voice in after hearing how jokingly bad the version BHVR put in was... xD Unfortunately, the only company I can be grateful to for getting Pinhead in the game is Park Avenue Entertainment. BHVR searched them out, but they're still the ones that said 'yes' at the end of the day.

if he thinks he's hard to understand he should identify what are his problems are and ask or watch a guide.
there's something about the box mecanic that is unknown by many cuz it's unfortunately not explained in game, is that you need to dodge 3 chains before doing his box i will give him that.
in soloq if it's a decent pinhead that plays for the box more than chases it's basically gg everytime.

A Pinhead going for the box and can get it constantly is a sign of good gameplay and knowledge being rewarded. Due to how the box spawns, he would be constantly moving around the map, so he would be going for multiple chases, not 3 genning, tunneling or camping. Played right, he encourages healthy gameplay I would say.

He requires good team work to counter. If you have bad team mates, it's probably a loss for the team. I've had games where I'm the only one touching the box, and even when I'm in chase and there's a chain hunt, my team mates would rather attempt to slooowly do gens through a chain hunt than go near the box. So I don't mind Pinhead in general, I think he's pretty straight forward to counter, but I hate solo queue games against him for the above reason.

He is horrible to play as on console

Hard agree with this entire comment

The answer is that friend #1 plays solo, friend #2 plays SWF.
If you have comms to coordinate who's going for the box and when, chain hunt will never happen, and without chain hunt he's garbage.
If you don't have comms, chain hunt happens once or twice, and he will wreck house, because chain hunt is really strong.

If your friend is having trouble understanding the killer's power than my recommendation, as always, is to play as him and figure it out from his end. At the very least, you can watch some YouTube vids of people playing him.
He's a decently strong killer and although his power is quite complicated, he has plenty of counterplay once you understand it.
Check out Otzdarva's videos for some in depth analysis... Or just check out Otz because he's awesome.

He's a very "knowledge check" killer. If you don't understand how his chain hunts work you will have a bad time. Yes that includes the spawn logic.
On the flipside if you do its not that bad, arguably easy.

I've played all of like, five games against him and have no idea what you're supposed to do, so I usually die insanely early against him.
That said, Hellraiser was one of the first movies that truly made me a horror fan (alongside the original Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and it's still so cool to me to see one of my favorite horror movie characters in a game I love so much.
However, I don't like Pinhead's chain mechanics. I don't think they're OP or anything like that (truthfully, sometimes they seem a bit weak, but I haven't played him nearly enough to have a true opinion) but I'm just kind of sick of all the killers whose power revolves around slowing survivors in one way or the other:
Clown, Pinhead, Wesker, Freddy, and probably at least one more that I'm forgetting.
Then again, this could 100% be a skill issue on my part. Other than Clown, I really haven't played the game much since all the anti-loop killers have come to the game. I just came back from a super long break (over a year) so maybe I just need to git gud.

Fun in a SWF, absolute BS solo. One of the few Killers I would say is completely unfair as a solo player, it's like randoms are allergic to the box.

Pinhead has a decent power which is fair overall. Certainly, he's not impossible. However, his power for me can feel the most frustrating because of the cooldown. Frustrating doesn't mean unfair though. He has to hit the target first and, more often than not, it only allows some distance to be gained. A miss results in more distance.
It's fair, but I can understand why some players can be irked by it.

Very unique Killer with cool power. However I don't find much fun playing as him atm. It's probably because his chains are hard to hit and you have to play around your Box to get the most value out of him. Also FD and Hoarder don't work for him anymore, so that also doesn't help me. Hoarder was legit only decent on Pinhead, yet they nerfed that perk into useless tier.

He's one of the few killers where I debate instantly DCing as soon as the match starts and I hear that loud ass noise to let me know i'm about to have a boring, drawn out match XD

Pinhead matches that I see always end up being s--t shows, for one reason: The Box. Survivors don't get it. To manage Pinhead, you have to manage the box. Someone has to go get it when it spawns, and take care of it when the time is right(or at least do it near a pallet, etc). And if more than one Survivor shows up at the box, that is better than none of them.
