So after much pestering from my friends I finally caved and got dbd. I decided to try out the killer side of things to see which one I feel comfortable playing and I really think the doctor is quite fun. Any tips on how to play him effectively?

Run Whispers... it will allow you to know if there's a Survivor within 32M (tier 3) with would make Static Blast even more effective

There's more but I'll leave you with this

At lower levels the madness mechanic can really mess with survivors, so any perk that makes skillchecks more difficult can be of huge value.

Just be careful massacring too many teams as once you hit competent survivors, Doctor's ability falls off very quickly and they can be super good at avoiding shocks. Good luck and have fun!

You picked a weird killer to start with. Not that Doctor is bad or anything he's fine but he probably has the most builds out of any killer cuz his add-ons are so weird. You have

    -Skill check Doctor

    -Stealth Doctor

-Whatever tf putting both tapes together does Doctor

-Not having to wait 3 hours for the effect of shocking someone to actually prevent them from dropping pallets Doctor

    -And many more!

So really it depends what playstyle you like most when it comes to giving tips. Generally speaking though what translates to whatever you do is time your shocks methodically, don't just shock survivors in a loop repeatedly because you will actually never catch up to them. You shock them to prevent a pallet drop or a vault and then you loop as normal.

I'm just here to convey my condolences and welcome you into the ranks of miserable people, you may never escape the nightmare that's dbd.

On a different note: people will really hate you if you do a version of the impossible skillcheck doctor with Merciless Storm (Onryo perk). How you use that info is up to you.

Learn to time shocking people just as they vault and/or drop pallets, it's free real estate.

be careful since if the survivor has already started the vaulting/dropping animation (even for just 0.1 seconds) they will finish the animation even when you shock them

Whispers, overcharge, noed, bitter murmer are good starting perks but a few good perks to unlock from other killers would be brutal strength from trapper, save the best for last from Myers, enduring from hillbilly, BBQ and chili from Leatherface, and pop goes the weasel from clown.

Add ons that decrease time to charge electric discharge are the best.

It's not important to kill everyone in the match so don't focus on everyone in the match just 2 or 3.

Play survivor with bond to see the ebb and flow of your fellow survivors. There's almost always one person on generator when a survivor goes up on hook. If you can get good at stopping that survivor while also eliminating survivors then congrats you're on your way to DBD mastery.

Have fun. Do not get caught up with the meta you will only find pain and suffering.

I don't use it so much expecting to disrupt them as I do just for gaining free madness levels

There are a couple good builds with him.

My personal favourite is distressing, coulraphobia, sloppy butcher and unnerving presence. It fits his basekit very well and on smaller maps like midwich and meat plant it can really hinder the survivors and give you breating space. Regardless of what build you use I would run sloppy butcher on him, doctor gets a lot of value out of it since you can disrupt heals verys easily with static blast

Messing around with his terror radius is pretty fun. If you use dark devotion you can send the obsession off to seek a heal then do a static blast to reveal them and anyone trying to help them.
