What is the real reason you keep playing?
Playing since 2017 with a lot of breaks, but i still came back so many times. Mainly for the chases on both sides, the uniqueness of the game and new (licsensed) killers. Idc about bloodpoints anymore, but shards and the (free) Rift system was very, very smart!
What about you?

Honestly the license killers keep me here at this point.

Some kind of sorcery to the inner bindings this game
The pull is too strong… the claws too deep
Resistance to DBD is Futile

We're probably some of the few who actually like the game

I'm extremely depressed and playing this stupid, awful, wonderful, fantastic video game lets my mind quiet down for a while.

We all have a love hate hate relationship with DBD after a time. It is uniquely addictive.

I made the mistake of paying for the rift before finishing it, now I have to play. But after that, I am going to take a break, although I really looked forward to Alien. I can only play in the evening and on weekends now and it is insufferable. Maybe I will come back when bhvr does something meaningful against tunneling and camping.

I play cause I still find the game fun and wanna get better, plus they just added Maria legendary for Cheryl. What more could I want (a few more licenses from games to be honest)

I enjoy the grind of it. Feels rewarding. Although I will say, about a year and half ago my answer to this would’ve been Spirit and no other reason lol.

Probably some subliminal messaging hidden in one frame of the game that has brainwashed me to keep playing this silly game which I both simultaneously love and hate :)
On the real though, all of the RE characters.

Call of duty is like the only other multiplayer game I play so it’s this
although there’s sometimes where I take long breaks

To switch my brain off for a bit

Sunk cost fallacy :^)

One major reason for me being that it's doing what Terrordrome: Rise of the Boogeymen did by bringing all the iconic characters in horror together, except here it's all done legally and officially.
Another major reason is the straight forward gameplay.

The game is fun.
Sure it makes me angry enough to rip my own bed in half sometimes, but there truly is not a single game that is like DBD, period.
No other game comes even close, it is entirely unique and original. No other game brings horror icons along with original creations together to be fully playable in diverse and interesting ways.
What other game besides maybe skins or flash games lets you play as both Nemesis AND Pyramid Head? None.
What other game lets you stalk people as Michael Myers or Ghostface? I can't think of any besides DBD.
The original creations (besides maybe Skull Merchant) are all great too, I personally adore Clown, Dredge and Singularity.
And I love the perk system, sure it's annoying when some perks are objectively broken (Old Dead Hard, Made For This, Mettle of Man when it first came out), but it also has a ton of fun and goofy ones like Plot Twist and Coup De Grace.
The only real issue that holds this game back are not rewarding Killers for spreading hooks (which should count for MMR instead of Kills) and punishing the Killer for camping and also rewarding the Killer for NOT camping.
Fix these two issues and DBD will be at the best it has ever been easily.

I like to chase people.

This is what keeps most people. Without the licenses I think this game would've died out a LONG time ago. It needs to be said more often, because Generators "THE GAME" isn't very appealing... xD

I, get this, enjoy the game.

Simple, the game's still fun, if I wasn't having fun, I wouldn't bother playing it

I actually don't play much at all anymore. I might try the alien chapter on the day of release. Beyond that i'll be back whenever they do something about the awful matchmaking and horrendous amount of bloodpoints survivors get compared to killers. Solo queue is just unbearable these days. Not only do you get destroyed but you also get nothing for your time. Meanwhile I can load up as killer and get around 100k per game. When I was playing a lot it was just addiction that kept me going.

Biggewt issue is lack of game modes there should be 2 killer mode.

Probably the grind keeps me addicted.

I always keep the game fresh. Every trial has a randomized build. I set my own goals in each trial. I see and develop stories in my head, both within the trial and a broader scope of the character levelling up. If a tome reveals something about the character, I might even change my playstyle to match.
Basically, I keep creative.

i still play but I’m not blind to the fact that the company puts greed over quality and fixing the game.
it’s all about trying to get people to buy cosmetics or entice you to buy it for the licensed characters and then you realize they don’t care about improving the game at all.
its a hoopdie car with a nice paint job, that’s all.
so I play. They got my money. But I won’t be buying alien or anything else, not even alien.

I see some people stating that they are only playing because they've already paid for it.
But how many more hours of playing this game would it take for you to actually quit playing, especially if you are not enjoying yourself for the majority of it?
Even if you had only played 100 hours and paid $100 for the game and its contents, you've already got $1 per hour worth of playtime. Isn't that enough?
Your time is valuable too. Shouldn't you use it on something you can actually appreciate and be content with? Just walk away if this game is making you increasingly miserable or upset majority of the time - not only are you doing yourself a favor, you most likely would be doing other players (those who actually are enjoying this game) a favor too.

I’ve spent to much money to quit

Biggest. Spirit. Cheerleader. Ever.

I've spent money on the game. That's all there is nothing else.
The game has long been thrown in the gutter and the only reason I keep up with it is to see if the devs will make moves to actually improve the game and build on it.

It's just a fun, unique game. As many games as I see with toxic killers as surv and the odd game where I'm killer and get rofl stomped, most of my games tend to be fun. And i have a few friends who still play it that are a good laugh.
2 -
real reason? you think I have a fake one?
the game is fun. until I get burnout and take a break.
2 -
licences, spent to much time playing it.

Various reasons…
• The game is unique and no other games plays like it and the core chase mechanics is fun.
• Playing with friends keeps me entertained. This is probably the prime reason why I still play
• The amount of money I’ve spent on the game is in the thousands so there is a lot of grind and investment. So much so that I don’t like playing other grindy games because the DBD has such an intense time investment that I don’t want to spend thousands of hours into another grind heavy game.
• They regularly put out new killers and survivors every season and other new updates in between so the game feels refreshing.
I am on a bit of a hiatus from playing because I’m burnt out, but I sunk more hours into this game than any other game I’ve ever played.
