This game has become a bit too much of hiding and not enough in your face horror action
I want to suggest a challenge to you all this is for killers as well as survivors. Spend a day playing where you wear the absolutely most bright and stand outish outfits imaginable so the killer cant just ignore you blending into the fog. See how many escapes you can get doing this more players need to work on their chase game that includes myself and i have found that forcing myself to always bee in the killers xrosshairs has actually helped my survival game. If you want a suggestion claudette has a few outfit pieces that are just glowing in your face. The game is def a lot more fun being chased then it is hiding on a generator so come one guys go out and force yourself to be seen heard and hopefully not killed. Take care and Good luck

I feel most people like the hiding aspect more than the actual 'doing Generators' part of the game funny enough. Most new people I've had try DBD are use to much more, as you put it, action-oriented games and find the Generators really dull and boring. That being said, I still think more people get a thrill from the hiding part of DBD rather than the, let me do a Generator and maybe hide for a moment when the Killer comes. I see so many Survivors just STRICTLY hiding in solo Q its ridiculous..
Doing Generators has so many people like..

If you're a killer struggling against stealthy killers then run aura-reading perks. Nowhere to Hide is a particularly good one for this, because it literally leaves the survivors with... nowhere to hide.
If you're a solo-Q survivor whose teammates are stealthing rather than doing gens... then it sucks to be you. Stealth isn't typically a winning strategy in the current meta due to the number of detection perks/add-ons/abilities that the killers have. Plus survivors who focus on stealth tend to be weaker loopers and focus less on gens.

GUD! I like stealth play. It's not done enough

I mean...there is this perk called Nowhere to hide that counters most stealthy survivors hiding around.

How is hiding from a killer who can easily kill you and the anxiety of being found not horror? But running right up to a killer who's relatively powerless in bright happy colours and neon lights... is horror?

Again im not trying to remove the aspect of the game that some find fun im just saying too many survivors do not have proper chase strategies they dont practice it enough and thus as soon as they are hooked they just suicide on that hook and move onto the next match, if more players practiced their chase game they could potentially give the killer a run for his or her money and eventually they always give up the chase when gens start popping off. You also need to be aware however of the timing of bloodlust so you know how long to stay in chase and eventually when your time will run out

It's difficult to practice something that kicks you out of the game as soon as you make a mistake.

If you want more chase oriented game play, that's fine, but to compare it to a horror theme seems a stretch. Hiding is an essential part of horror. Some of the most intense moments I've had in the game is when I've crouched in a bush while the killer searches nearby and I don't know whether I'm going to be found or not. That's the closest the game actually gets to a horror feeling. Chasing and looping is fun, but its a tag simulator.

Stealth as a Survivor is generally pretty fun and tense at times. It's incredibly underrated these days and is also where new players will naturally start their learning progression.
Stealth is just another tool/skill in the Survivor Toolbox. When used correctly in certain key moments, it can positively effect the outcome of the trial. If not used properly or at the correct time, you just lose overall gen pressure.
I still occasionally enjoy Stealthing around and I have 1800 hours. I find it hilarious watching Killers searching lockers while I'm really in a nearby bush or behind a wall.

Already sounds like too many things for a new person to wrap their head around. I just started playing TCM with most people the other day when it came out, so I'll compare it to that. There is no confusing chase going on and there isn't bloodlust or pallets or anything like that for new people to worry about. There are traps ya but that's expected. All Killers have stamina as well as the Survivors so its more fair. Just run and use nooks and holes to escape. Simple. I'm not saying it isn't going to get more competitive since people are just now finding things out, but from my perspective as a newer player of the game, it's a night and day difference from when I first played DBD in terms of easy to understand.
We'll have to wait and see how much TCM changes down the road and if it becomes harder, but if anything since the objective is so simple for Survivors, I can only see it getting easier. Only time will tell. I feel TCM is a more welcoming new player experience. Just because I'm new and the Killers being new as well still means I could easily win. If you sit 5 brand new people down and have them play DBD, I guarantee most of the time the Killer will win. TCM though, I'm not so sure. It's much more straight forward. Not to mention the maps are so huge that even though there are 3 COUNT EM 3 Killers after you, it's still hard for them to be everywhere at once like say...Blight...or Nurse...
Survivor in TCM compared to DBD just feels easier overall and I'm really not surprised. Seeing how horrible the new player experience has been in DBD for quite some time has me breathing a breath of fresh air while playing TCM. It's just easier to understand. No complicated chase mechanics. The looping that there is makes more sense thematically and it just feels good. Survivors act, sound, and move like they're helpless and scared, which DBD is missing since those new animations made them look all tough, standing up straight like they're a threat... Being able to swing not just ONE time but twice or even thrice as Killer feels so good.. DBD is just stuck with ancient game mechanics, that hopefully games like TCM force BHVR to change over time. News flash for everyone that would defend this, but hitting a Survivor 1 time.. and then constantly cleaning your weapon as a 'supposedly murderous' Killer is really stupid...and always has been..
To summarize for Survivor and Killers or Victims and the Family rather, I think TCM is just easier to pick up and play and I'm so glad it is as I'll be playing it for as long as its supported. Hopefully GUN can get their hands on more licenses so we can see them treated with the upmost respect and have as much passion poured into everything about them like they did with the new TCM. It doesn't just 'look' like horror * cough *
dbd* cough * ..... IT FEELS LIKE HORROR and I'm loving it so far.0 -
This is the truth. I am pretty good in chase but sometimes I can waste just as much if not more of the killer's time if I can hide effectively and have them continue searching because they know I'm nearby.

Exactly! Or better yet, you waste some of their time with the searching and then also get their attention and start a chase too. Very efficient for gaining the maximum amount of time possible for your teammates to work on other gens.

Too much hiding? what do you think this game is about as a survivor? survivors have no real defense and you have the audacity to say,
"This game has become a bit too much of hiding and not enough in your face horror action."
if you want in your face action go play modern warfare, ghost recon, arma or any first shooter game and be happy with in your face action. survivors play the game as it is supposed to be played. we do gens and hide.. WE HIDE ALOT! because it seems fit for the occasion. once we are seen and hung. it isnt easy to stop the tunneling and proximity camping you killers do to feel powerful.

Shame how anymore none of these players realize how DBD was intended to be. And have these types of suggestions.
There's a reason why the catagory for DBD is Horror Themed Asymetrical Survival. It aint action based.
And yea sure, there's always that excuse "play however you want" but anymore, ...and it's all boring meta, everyone knows where gens are, forced perk useage.
You want a rush, play perkless. 😜
Lights Out is the perfect example of game modes, it takes everyone's so-called skills and downright puts all in the dark. DBD was meant to be hide and seek horror.
Not action, Jackie Chan style.

Are people so opposed to running any information perks whatsoever that we're literally asking/expecting people to bring a big neon sign that says 'i'm over here'?
What's next? You should only use the sprint key to leave scratch marks so the killer can find you, but you should only walk during chases. It's for ImMeRsSiOn.
