Meta Induced Depression
Hi, just posting this because I just got really depressed from what just happened in my game.
I spent a minute or two looping a survivor and was just about to get my down. This survivor had Made for This and I was playing pig so it was a long but fun chase. However, it was a SWF lobby and one survivor decided to come body block when I was about to get my down. I think body blocking is great and all but that play made me lose my will to kill. 2 minutes of looping just to get reset by a SWF…
I honestly miss the days when all the killers were kind of viable, maybe some more than others.
(Just in case you were wondering, all 4 survivors in the game had Made for This)

they still are all kind of viable, assuming you do not find the best players around a lot.
how did the game end? got some sacrifices? some head pops?
and just to point it out, I'll bodyblock mid chase as a solo survivor. sometimes it happens on a particularly dire moment for the other survivor. it's not necessarily an indicative of a swf.

I did get outplayed. It sucks too because it would probably have taken me 2 more minutes to catch the injured survivor even looping really efficiently.

Was a SWF, they were very coordinated and I have played enough to tell the difference. I just went in a corner and slapped a tree. I know it wasn’t the best thing to do but I was frustrated and tired.
I know it’s probably just a skill issue but I work full time and don’t have the time to get really good. It just makes me kinda sad that I can’t play casually anymore if I want more than a possible 1k.

Yeah, it was a lot more fun when people were able to just goof around with random perks and killers.
Don’t get me started on how much fun it was to goof around with survivors and take a break from the chases to do random stuff. I vividly remember running the bar as a killer on Ormond and having all 4 survivors coming over to grab a drink rather than rush gens. I know it’s not a part of the game but it used to be so fun when it was stress free.

understandable. maybe consider taking a break? I heard tcm is still very chill and casual.
it could just be a matchmaking issue. and even then, not a skill issue. You are not required to be an expert in a game to want a fun match where you can win with your current abilities.

This is why I am happy I am on console nowadays due to ingame chat not being a thing competitive people can often be quite toxic I really hope if you are a pc player that you din't have this. Especially since you were playing Pig and just trying to have some fun.

Use STBFL or Forced Penance and body blocks can be massively punished

Based title
2 -
What exactly do you want? A shoulder to cry on? Some kind of change to the game?
0 -
Yeah, I just really like the premise of the game and it is fun. The game just feels so competitive now that you can’t go into a match normally and expect to get anywhere.
Thank you for the kind words though! I think I’m gonna try going into matches and just focus on fun chases rather than winning.

I was just depressed and wanted somewhere to write it out.
In all honesty I think MFT should be nerfed but from what the devs are saying I think it is kinda futile.
2 -
I play a bit of both. The survivors weren’t very toxic either, I was just kinda sad I lost all of my progress in one outplay.
I agree with you btw, really nice to not have the post game chat lol.
2 -
I’m fine now, honestly just needed a nights sleep to get over it.
Glad you like the title btw, took me 5 minutes to come up with it lol.
1 -
Great advice! Thank you! I mostly play demo and Nemi so it is really nice to have some advice on how to play M1 killers.
1 -
Ah the days of serving drinks at dead dawg saloon.
Now if you try that instead of fun you get t-bags and flashlights.
Survivors are just so toxic which I blame on the boring and repetitive game play of gen simulator.
2 -
Better than getting FtP + Buckle Up-ed and not being able to do anything for ten seconds LOL
Edits for clarity because I royally messed up that sentence the first time.

does me saying the initials spell MID make it more or less funny?
Guy: How are you dude?
Dude: I was fine, but now I'm with MID.
1 -
True lol.

"I loopped for two minutes".
Did the "gens pop/fly" too? With all due respect this is a mistake I see a lot of killers make and then blame the game for it. Never commit even half of this long to a chase. It's an instant downfall. Don't chase survivors who are better are looping you than you are at catching them unless you HAVE to (I.e. they're the only one left) and don't chase survivors who want to be chased. They're trying to waste your time.

And then you get lobbies where all 4 survivor can you loop you for that long aka "matchmaking" royally screwed you and then this kind of advice is less than helpful when burned out.
@CarbonaraCharlie better take a longer break from DBD (a week+) if such a play frustrates you this much. I know the feeling from experience. Its part of what made me leave the game years ago.
I know the gameplay and premise is still rather unique but at the same time it lost its fun and became stressful and repetitive.

Hey now, I've read this somewhere before. 🤨😏😅

I really appreciate the advice. I probably should take a break but I’m kinda burnt out on all of the other games in my library. After that body block, I started going into lobbies with a more I’m going to lose and have fun doing it mentality and it has really helped.

This was probably the 4th or 5th chase I commuted to. I usually go for about 30 to 40 seconds and give up if I’m making no progress.
This whole team was pretty cracked though so I wasn’t really able to down anyone without committing a bit more than usual. Had an injured survivor with MFT and Windows of Opportunity who I thought I could down so I tried and tried until the body block.
Probably a skill issue if I’m being really honest lol

i still play casually

i think mft is fine as a killer

fellow holder of the rare and elusive demo

try playing some survivor if killer starts to frustrate you
0 -
Woah. Why were you looping one survivor for 2 minutes? That seems like throwing the match???
0 -
I think MFT is fine if you are playing as a stronger killer with chase powers. For example, I play as Demogorgen and Nemi on a regular basis and have no issues but when I try out M1 killers, those extra seconds of distance are really painful, especially in strong loops.

I had already tried 4 or 5 chases and most of them weren’t going my way. I saw a previously injured survivor and though it would be my only way to generate some slight pressure.
Either way it was a pretty cracked SWF so I probably would have been gen rushed anyways lol
1 -
Yeah, I play some survivor as well as killer but I don’t have friends who like playing dbd so I’m always stuck in solo queue 😂
Gotta say though, my escape rate has skyrocketed in the current meta lol

The tree you slapped lol!
0 -
How did you know? XD
I was playing Minecraft lol
0 -
Ok that’s understandable. If you can’t get them in chase though sometimes you have to trip them up with mindgames
0 -
Yeah, still not 100% on my mind games but even when playing optimally, M1 killers are pretty hard to play as right now.
Especially because a lot of good survivors react fast enough to nullify mind games at stronger loops.

"too many weskers"
"comp nurses and blights all around"
"why is 95% of killer roster isn't being played?"
yeah, because they don't want to be "outplayed" lmao. running mft, burning bs maps against m1 killers is skill expression for sure.
2 -
you know how it is , bad to unaware survivors said the perk is balanced like they do always, untill people start getting good with the perk to abuse it non-stop , and BHVR will finally do something about it (might take a year tho which is sad)
on the bright side they put MFT on the shrine wich means pretty much everyone is gonna use it now , which can be a good thing to finally leading the perk higher on the stadistics and hopefully getting nerfed / reworked sooner right? RIGHT BHVR?.
0 -
I sure hope so XD
I want to play M1 killer again without getting countered by injuring survivors lol
0 -
i must just play smart then cuz i play trapper a lot
0 -
im a tree hugger now
0 -
lol!!!
1 -
DBD is not competitive it's just some tryhards bringing the most meta they can.
Im tired so see dumb... players that don't even look behind AND/OR have no notion how to loop but hey they have the meta combo "window-mft-resil-dh"

What is this strange tree that seems to have a face too?
-Red is the whole face
-Blue this the eyes
-Green is the nose
-Yellow is the mouth
I think the tree encountered the snoring merchant using 3 gens for a full hour
1 -
Depends on the m1 killer. Ghostface and Myers have insta-down abilities and Ghostface is pretty fast in nightshade. He has always done surprisingly well but is probably better now with his buffs. Myers… eh. He’s not great unless you run a slowdown build and do Tombstone at which point he’s pretty decent.

Sorry, may be my perverted mind but that looks a bit like something other than a face XD
