I have a bad feeling Chapter 30 is Five Nights at Freddy's

This is me connecting the dots and making assumptions. Don't take this seriously.

So as you know Bhvr partnered with Blumhouse Productions to create a Dead by Daylight movie. What Blumhouse are currently doing is releasing Five Nights at Freddy's on October 27 this year. Somewhere on November comes the killer only licensed chapter.

Nicolas Cage was just a taste of what's about to happen. Remember Willy's Wonderland movie from 2021 with the evil animatronics? This is me just reaching so take it with a grain of salt please.

I really hope I am wrong and Chapter 30 is something different or else I will never want to touch this game knowing my conscious is at stake.

that’s really going to upset them (it won’t do anything)

I wouldn't be too worried, Scott has never done cross-franchise collabs, and unless he says yes then a FNAF Chapter is entirely off the table

Sorry, but I don't agree with you, starting with DbD would make exactly the same job conveying FNAF as it did conveying Alien, in the sense that it feels and plays just like another DbD killer with a power instead of feeling like an Alien at all.

About the narrative, the first games already had a good paranormal lore in them, even if the game didn't shove it in your face and you have to fit the subtle clues you would be finding. In fact, I think that is what maintained most of the people hooked to the franchise, as like you said, the main game mechanics was simply jumpscares that get boring as soon as you get used to them... just like in DbD, ironically.

So, again, I think that "an animatronic that in reality is a device to dispose corpses possessed by the vengeful soul of a child" is a pretty cool and fitting concept for a game like DbD. They don't even have to think in the mori, as the logical thing will be the animatronic opening and capturing the survivors inside like the "meat grinder iron maidens" they are.

If they do an FNAF chapter and they put Springtrap as the killer, now that would be a real shame.

And +1 for Scissor Man and a Clock Tower chapter.

I'm just gonna be real. People don't want FNAF because they think it's little league compared to a lot of other horror icons & fandoms out there

I'd be happy for FNAF 🤷🏻

Xenomorphs are known to attack with their tails at their most basic. Considering they chose to go with a Warrior rather than a Spitter or Praetorian or the infamous dog runner variants the tail attack makes a great deal of sense.

When it comes to the paranormal stuff, yes it is in all of the games, but it isn't in a weaponized form. It's subtext and the use of it more akin to Amnesia's in the sense that it is a tool that creates the setting rather than defines a set of abilities enemies use against you. That's has it's place, but as you can plainly see you really do not want to leave things up to the devs alone when it comes to power creation. An animatronic stops being particularly interesting once step away from the mori.

The animatronics being made of remnant metal composed of souls is a great back story. It works well in its own universe, but sadly Scott didn't really put that in the games too well. He put in the much less engaged with and far more cryptic books, comics, and coloring book. If they made a Security Breach chapter there would at least be something to inform the power of the killer and the designs are the most visually interesting, but it would still be overall just a weak chapter with at most a m1 killer.

I suppose there is the argument of you could just not buy the chapter I suppose.

I personally would hate FNAF, because it's bargain jump scare horror... This is where I start to sound like a pompous ass... but to me FNAF is the prime example of just throwing something onto the screen that is very fast and obnoxiously loud to spook the player. That does have some value, but it's not in the same league as making someone genuinely afraid of a creaking door, or a glint on a window, or a shadow under a doorframe only to learn nothing was there, before finally hitting you with a really disturbing death/fate for the victims.

I've deleted a whole long winded explanation, but the short of it is, FNAF doesn't carry the same weight as other horror franchises because it was always predictable and its scare was just to have one of the anamatronics stare at you a half second before screaming at the top of it's lungs and racing towards you. There is something to be said for letting your imagination do the work, and the original FNAF did an OK job at that with it's end game death screen... but that is peak it has to offer, making it basically kiddie entry level horror.

It simply doesn't compare to Freddy throwing Philip off the top of the church while puppetting him using his tendons as strings, or Myers pinning Bob to the cabinet by stabbing his kitchen knife through the chest, or Jason using a Saw to slice the Coronors throat before twisting his head backwards, literally anything that Pinhead does in all of the movies, etc, etc.

So I don't think FNAF belongs... but FNAF fans could probably say the same thing about the goofiness of classic slasher films, of which there is no shortage of dumb tones.... so... who am I to gatekeep really?

The aged mask for Myers would be really cool. I thought they did such a great job with it in the films.

even if it is, with the movie being Scott’s final project i worry it wont turn out well as a chapter

What I meant with "Alien feeling" is literally the feeling when playing it. It just plays like any other killer and don't really feel like you are playing a xenomorph except when you are in the tunnels, as besides their tail attack they are also known for being fast and stealthy. Sincerely, a Praetorian xenomorph would have being more fitting for the kind of gameplay the Alien has here.

For the rest, I mostly agree with you, even if I still thinks an FNAF killer would fit pretty well in the game if done right.

This is a port of the original SNES game that will launch in 2024, but there is also more entries with 3D graphics for PSX and PS2. Most people would know the PSX one as the original was never released out of japan AFAIK.

The SNES one is a pretty good horror game, it's impressive the kind of atmosphere it can create for a 2D pixel game even by today standards.

Right now I'm so deep in Texas Chainsaw Massacre I have no desire to touch Dead by Daylight.

Five Nights at Freddy's is one of only three things I would come back for. The other 2 being new Silent Hill stuff or TCM dying off

They said big L licenses so I doubt it's FNAF on that fact alone.

But honestly even if it was, I simply do not see it as a big deal.

It won't be FNAF as I'm assuming FNAF will come with map when it eventually gets it. I highly doubt they'd release another map so close to the new Alien map they just made. Candyman and Predator are possible however.

And jsyk in the grand scheme of all IPs, FNAF is most certainly a "big L" in terms of fan request. I still don't think it'll be FNAF though. When they said "big L", I'm almost certain they meant franchises that are more old school and have been wanted for a long time. The "big L" licenses are most assuredly from movies and not video games. FNAF would for sure fit the bill on the "big L" though.

I think that goes for most of the big horror franchies

Friday the 13th has only 2 good movies, same with Nightmare on elm street and Halloween

tho Evil Bong is still standing strong with 9 Great entries in the series, and a new one on the way

We get that every couple months and it always turned out to be wrong.

BHVR also has connections to a few other license holders and probably quite a lot of opportunities before they will get desperate enough to start scraping the bottom of the barrel with FNAF, especially because BHVR could be accused of hypocrisy by supporting Scott Cawthon in any way.

They still have connections with Blumhouse. Ubisoft and Games Workshop possibly too so even Warhammer 40k is more likely than Fnaf and any WH40k fans will tell you how much scum the company behind it can be when it comes to their license.

I would be as excited as I was when the first Resident Evil chapter came to DBD which I think is the best collaboration they've done so far. Being able to run around Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria in DBD would be a nightmare come true, but in a good way. 😁

My 3 guesses were Friday the 13th (since there is a new game and show coming), FNAF as in what you mentioned, and Predator since we got Alien (same license holders?). BUT since it won't have a new map or survivor with it, I think that rules out both Friday and FNAF, because both are pretty big and have iconic map potential (camp crystal lake, Pizza joint) So my guess then is it will be Predator, which would work great as a stand alone killer chapter.

I suspect the "dislike" for FNAF is because it got taken over by "kids" and we all know that kids are "cringe" despite the franchise being over nine years old at this point, which is, by the way, older than DbD. -_-

My second guess would be because people are salty that their favourite >insert indie horror title here< didn't hit it as big as FNAF, so they'd rather see that become a chapter over something "mainstream" even though from a marketing standpoint it makes sense to go for a successful/large IP over a small indie crossover (Resident Evil, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, Silent Hill, Alien etc).

Don't get me wrong, I'd like to see Jason, M3gan, Pennywise, and/or Chucky make their way into DbD, but if their IP holder says no then there's nothing BHVR can do, but if FNAF's IP said yes, then people will just have to live with it.

So I agree with a couple of other commenters here, if FNAF is the next licensed chapter, let the FNAF fans enjoy the content, as they have the grace to accept and enjoy IP's they're not huge fans of at all. And of course, you are not forced to buy the licensed chapter if it's not something you enjoy.

At this point, I want it to be FNAF so people finally shut up about it being the next chapter.
