In need of assistance!
I am searching for a new main. Preferably a male survivor. My current main, david, has been neglected by not getting skins anymore so i need a new one. I need opinions on what other male survivor is more catered to the devs in terms of more likely to getting skins and generally more liked in the community so I can dedicate more time into and be more invested in them. All opinions are welcomed for discussion!

Why do you need the forums to tell you who to play as? Just play somebody you like, that also has a bunch of skins.

The only male survivor who gets a lot of cosmetics is Dwight. Felix has been getting some pretty consistently as well, but other than them no man can compete with Feng Min, Kate and Mikaela (and even Nea, Meg & Claudette) I'm afraid. It's too soon to know about Gabriel, but I don't think he's nearly popular enough, and Nicolas Cage is licenced so it's hard to know but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

It changed after BHVR said he was gay (and his chances of getting cosmetics dropped with his popularity). I remember getting one or two David every game before that, now I see him probably as much as Jane, which is to say quite rarely. Maybe the DH nerf also have something to do with it, but most people don't play characters because of their teachables.

The purpose of my post is to interact with my community so they can guide me. Of course, the final decision is up to me, but I would like to hear my fellow community on a possible best choice for me and why. There is nothing wrong with that. And I want to make sure my choice at least has a good investment into them.

The only males who consistently get skins are Dwight, Ace, and Felix.
Basically every other male survivor gets a new skin every six months or every couple years if you are Jeff, Adam, or Jonah.

If you want to play comp or have a survivor who gets a lot of skins, get Ace.
If you're a RE gamer as well you could get Leon/Chris/Carlos :)
Though I have to say I love most David gamers, they play well and who the f doesn't like David?

That's so true. I noticed especially felix has been getting more consistenly. It seems he also has a strong fanbase with the shirtless situation which is amusing. And the devs love to feed on with that with releasing half shirtless skins. But the more the merrier and thats a plus in my book.
Also dwight is an ok choice too. I had gabriel on the radar but i wont touch him till i get a clear consensus on his marketability on the community. But like you said, he may not be popular enough and i noticed that as well.

Mmhhh now that you say it. I used to be a Jane main, but since that new sporty outfit for Mikaela released, i kinda only played Mikaela.
Skins really matter. If i wouldnยดt find Fengs screams so annoying (especially the volume) i would probably play Feng. Since she has no shortage on new skins.

Ooo! You know i do like RE. But im trying to stay clear on them as my primary main since they are licensed and they rarely get cosmetics. Now if they were like getting the cheryl treatment with so many cosmetics I can see myself maining Leon slot.
Ace is definitely great gameplay wise. But i do wish he got more skins tho. Its been awhile since he got something for me to put him on my radar. But once again i love how quiet he is tho!

Darn. You know, adam really does get my attention. I personally do love his lore and i do favor his skins. I do notice that he's been getting more skins lately, but im scared the devs will brush him off very quickly. I think it was the christmas voting poll last year that really soured me. But they made up for it by giving him a christmas in july cosmetics which i personally love.
But he really is at the top of my radar to choose as my new main. Thanks for your feedback

Yep, I'm a Jake, Yui & Zarina main at heart, but I actually play Feng Min & Kate more than them. It's hard to keep playing people with 3 alright skins when you get shiny new ones for other characters every two weeks...
And as others mentionned, Ace also get a fair amount of cosmetics. I forgot he existed because I don't really like them lmao. You could also join Jake mains, we don't get skins but we don't expect any because they're usually ugly anyway ๐ญ

Oh my. All gorgeous men. Now with vittorio, im very glad he's kinda getting the feng treatment. But most are just not really good besides his shirtless skin of course. Mwah! Felix is good and im waiting on how the community overall feels about gabriel and how the devs will respond to that.

I say play a character because you like them, not because of how many skins they have.
The only "rule" I set for myself regarding cosmetics is to not just wear their default, and to wear something dark-colored.ย (Sadly I didn't get any Stranger Things cosmetics while I had the chance, so Nancy and Steve are kind of stuck with their defaults, albeit the bloody versions.ย And poor Quentin barely has any cosmetics to speak of.)ย I don't go out of my way to buy every cosmetic in the shop, so most of my cosmetics are earned from the rift, and I try to come up with interesting mix-and-match outfits with what I have.
My main is Dwight, and there's really only one outfit that I wear on him.
It's dark, and I love how the shirt fits nice and snug.ย So it doesn't matter how many cosmetics he has now or how many he gets in the future, I will most likely be sticking with this outfit for a long time to come.

I had to stop maining Jane because she hardly ever gets new clothes, and when she does it's usually lore-accurate clothes that are meh. And because myself and others don't play her, the devs have little reason to give her new clothes. Terrible, vicious cycle...

I told the devs two years ago in many heated debates that lgbt representation was not necessary (As we're over represented. Note: Im gay) in DBD. Two years later, we got this. And the numerous posts in FB groups talking about how its always killers with pride flags (or especially the trans flag) that are toxic. And if those killers arent actually gay or trans, they're using those symbols as an excuse to paint us in a bad light. Felix has also been mentioned by people not wanting to play him anymore as they figure he's now gay. ๐ด
Itd be really nice if we discarded representation in this game and just focused on creating a fun, close to balanced game as possible.

Honestly i would like to see more representation other than David. However, that's what I would say if they didnt just neglect and cast him aside. So now, I would rather focus on gameplay, content with skins etc since i accepted that this is just a business. So money is more of a priority than representation. Because i lost all hope in them in that regard.

So normally Im not against representation as long as its fair and not overdone. Unfortunately, and these are just my feelings, but I feel like LGBT representation is way overdone. We make up less than 10% of the population in total and yet we are in EVERYTHING. Painfully so. To the point that to make sure that a gay character is included they gotta hit all the stereotypes. And although Im happy that BHVR did listen to the people that were against adding a gay character for fear of stereotypes and instead just took an existing one and made them gay, it was still against the wishes of many that didnt want inclusion at all like myself. Im here to play a game.
That being said though, part of my current gripe is that years ago I predicted todays current events in regards to LGBT representation and acceptance and tried to warn people. But here we are. The LGBT community is at its lowest in years in terms of societal acceptance and its because society pushed us to the front of EVERYTHING and people were tired of it.
I still hold out that theyll just focus on making it balanced. But I dont think itll happen. And I hope they eventually start making skins again for David if you enjoy playing him. Sorry we are both in a ######### situation. And to OP as well.

I like the concept of yoichi. But unfortunately he is a license and im trying to stay clear of most of them for a long term investment since they dont get much. And he hasn't gotten anything for so long.
