So every killer tunnels now?

Literally every single match.

Either I or whoever else who’s unlucky enough to be seen first is immediately tunneled out of the match.

I could bet money on it now.

is this really the current state of DBD?

If only behavior would do their job and balance the game accordingly so that, killers don’t feel the need to tunnel .03 seconds into a match and have a fair shot, but we know that’s impossible.

Btw, it a total BS, with all respect.

First part is correct: if I'd used scummy tactic, I'd get obvoius response. It happened couple of times and I deserved it.

But I almost always play meme builds (or no builds), and I NEVER got BM in endgame chat. But instead I get a lot of kind words and responses, no matter if I lose or win.

I've played for just under two years and of course it has always happened, but the past month since the last perk overhaul and Gabriel being released, things have cranked up to crazy high levels of camping and tunneling. I don't even blame the people playing killer. The current perk balance has pushed things to this.

I remember saying before they nerfed eruption and the gen kick meta and dead hard, that it could be a case of be careful what you wish for. That obviously needed changing but the current endurance and speed boosts have directly led to what we have now.

Just like no one should be surprised once healing got hit survs would run around injured mostly and adjust their builds around that. Its all connected.

Beside the thing with personal experience there are statistics and probability, that should be taken into account. I played as a killer not 10, no 100, not even 1000 games, so statistically I had to have BM event even if it is 0.1%. But, on the countrary, I have roughly 20% sweet talk, 20% "GGs" and 60% silence.

But when I tunneled (there is not much data because I did it very few times), I got BM'd in almost every case, which is not unexpected.

So there are three possible reasons:

    1. I'm extremely lucky and can flip a "head" on a coin 100 times in a row.
    2. Game puts me on some special rainbow server with unicorns and icecream.
    3. What you telling is somehow BS.

And no need to rage about "BS", when it's not for offence, but just short version of "what you saiying doesn't add up". You can call BS what I say and you have any right to do so, especially with arguments, as can I. What you cannot do is tell me what I can and can't.

    Does it really matter?

    Fairness do nothing in DbD.

Killers have tunneled from day 1 of DBD. It didn’t just start because of MFT or Adrenaline or Hope or whatever. Even during the Erupt Overbrine META when games were taking 30+ minutes killers were tunneling. It’s always been the quickest path to a 4K.

I got cussed out in the post-game chat for using Sloppy Butcher, Forced Penance, Gift of Pain, and Leverage on Plague... and when saying that it was a joke build that got even more upset by it.

The truth is half the time people dont care if it is a meme build or not, if they dont like the outcome of the match they are going to make it known. I run meme builds all the time and have been cussed out a lot over it, I run normal builds all the time and have been cussed out a lot over it, the results are basically the same regardless.

A system that reward killers to not kill early is needed, but your idea, similar to many otherss, would not work.

    Assume 3% debuff x 4 hooks x 4 survivor would take 48% strength (out of 400%).

Tunneling 1 would take straight up 127% strength (100% from the dead survivor, 3% x 3 hooks x 3 remaining survivors).

More than that, it would make survivors even Gen rush harder because after 8 hooks, 96% debuff would make it impossible to win for survivors. And it doesnt change the problem of 1st chase cost 2-3 Gens.

Killers' strength is the same through the match, Survivors are strongest at the start, and passively weaker the longer the match is (lost survivors, lost perks, lost items, lost addons, lost pallets)

The fundamental is to nerf survivors early, then buff them the more survivor die.

Maybe try middle ground and not extremes on either way. And see if they still response same if you care about that. People tend to go mad though if you just outplay them.

OTR/DS are both useless perks so why not ? Tunneling is free atm nothing can stop it

  • rvzrvzrvz
    rvzrvzrvz Member Posts: 940

Who cares ? People will always choose easy free wins and a quick 3v1, killer incentive doesn't work especially a minor one like "15% repair speed". Only way is to make anti tunnel perks scary again, I don't even know how DS is still at 3 seconds 1 year later devs are really clueless

I hate being tunneled as survivor. I hate having to tunnel as killer.

I hope we get a solution but blame the game not the players.

Well then I call your experience BS, just to make it even and exit this empty and useless discussion. Good night.

Well, with that argumentation looks like terminology was quite correct.

I don't think this is a good solution. You'd have twenty-five minutes games or you'd have Nurse pub-stomping even harder than usual.

I was talking about the current meta.

Some killers will always tunnel, some will always camp.

Im just saying, that I personally would love to go for more chases and still have a chance at winning.

End game right now is unplayable. (If you don't play "insert strong killer")

    So a couple of things:

    1) These discussions always devolve into

    Survivors: "Stick!"

    Killers: "Carrot!"

    Survivors: "Stick!"

    Killers: "Carrot!"

You need both. Complex problems usually require complex solutions. A single silver bullet is not going to solve it.

    2) Everybody's play experience is different. Different regions, different MMRs, different times and days, different perspectives and outlooks.

Survivors are always a target unless the killer knows they have active protection, then your just a slightly less appealing target.

I played as Oni on Garden of Joy last night and the same Mikeala kept turning up and getting in my LOS whilst I was in power, dropped and hooked her once, twice and then on the third, I let her lay slugged to give her a chance to recover (I knew id regret it)

0k and they all refused to leave although Mikeala stayed and got claimed by the entity out of kindness I suppose.

Very next match as Knight, this Meg kept turning up time and time again but this time I tunneled her out, and then tunneled the next one. 4k and lost just 2 gens.

Feel free to pick a scenario you prefer as killer.....

Tunneling and camping have always been META. These strategies have never been anything but the quickest way to win. There’s nothing happening now that’s causing killers to tunnel or camp more. Killers never stopped doing those things.

  • Ayodam
    Ayodam Member Posts: 3,062

But you can make an entirely viable build around endgame and it pretty much works for all killers.

Not necessarily. You should still be applying pressure throughout the match but Endgame builds can function as comeback mechanics if you’re somehow unable to do this. As killer you’re still faster than survivors, you can bloodlust them down if you aren’t for whatever reason able to mindgame or out position them. You can force them to burn through resources as well, all before endgame. The endgame build doesn’t mean you do nothing until endgame. You realize that, correct?

4 survivors pov arent the same. You dropped Mika, for her she knew you didnt want her to be out of the game early.

for other it was you didnt make it to hook, or failed attempt to slug and pressure.

  • radiantHero23
    radiantHero23 Member Posts: 4,132

    Yes I do know that.

What I meant is, that I give up my chance of winning in early or mid game and only play for recourses.

For me, this feels bad because I basicly have to admit that I can't win in mid game. Don't like that.

    But everyone has their preferences.

BHVR is pushing killers to tunnel stronger and stronger. I'm not sure why, but that's their design path, at the moment. They keep giving survivors stronger and stronger options where playing "nice" and taking turns on hooks and such simply isn't even possible anymore - at least on m1 killers. Made For This, adrenaline, hope, buckle up and for the people - the power role is practically shifted over to survivors at this point. The M1 killer option there is is to either give up playing those killers and just play Nurse\Blight, or tunnel extremely aggressively to make the endgame more bearable. There's just so much power survivors have right now that eliminating one player asap is mandatory.

For M1 Killers, they still can't keep up with MFT and the all you can eat buffet of endurance and looping perks.
