Holding game hostage
Does this classify as holding a game hostage?
Got downed by the killer and the last survivor hid while the killer looked for them. 3 gens to go and it was just the two of us both on death hook so game was over. Just before I bled out, the killer picked me back up and let me struggle off then stood there looking around in a circle and swinging at me. Then they started following me, obviously wanting me to tell them where the last survivor was. Obviously I didn't, not least because I don't do that but also because that would be considered working with the killer, which is against the rules.
I just kept shaking my head at them so they kept going off on their own to search and I kept jumping on a gen. They'd come, hit the gen until I'd get off, then shake their head and body block me from getting back on, then they'd leave once i walked away from the gen. This went on repeatedly until I got two gens done. Then I stood under a hook pointing at it but they kept shaking their head and wouldn't hook me. Eventually the other survivor came out of hiding and got downed, then I got grabbed off the last gen and finally hooked.
I know the general consensus is that it's fine to slug/whatever for the 4k, but trying to block me from gens and refusing to down or hook etc, and just wanting me to help them look? I know some people will believe the other survivor is equally at fault for hiding, but I feel like that's between the killer and that survivor, and the killer can report them if they like. I'm just referring to what the killer did to me. I did manage to progress the game obviously by slowly getting a couple gens done, hence why I'm not sure if it counts as hostage taking. Thanks

No.
Some killers will back off if they think you're new. If they pick you up and let you wiggle off then swing, that usually means they just want to chase, not give up your teammate.

Who was the killer? Sounds like one of my games! 😂

Nah they definitely wanted me to give up the team mate. At first i thought they wanted to chase me but as i kept running, they kept looking around instead of staying on me (opening lots of lockers too). When I first hopped on a gen I was seeing if they just wanted to farm, but they'd tell me to get off then shake their head and get in between me and the gen. As soon as they found and downed the other survivor they immediately came and hooked me.
It was a Pumpkin head nurse

No. Even if the killer isn't killing you in this scenario. They are still looking for the other survivor whilst keeping you off gens as much as they can.

Mandy said it is against the rules to force somebody to farm, so in my opinion this situation should be reportable aswell, but I'm not sure if the mods have the same opinion, so it would be great, if a mod could comment on it.
It really sucks that the games rules are unclear for some situations.

It depends on what they do. For example, if they drop/pick you up repeatedly and do this constantly instead of hooking you to try to get you to show them where the last survivor is, or carry you around for a long time without dropping or hooking you, you can submit a recording of this as they are technically not progressing the game or letting you progress the game.
In these cases they're deliberately holding you hostage because it's pausing your bleed out timer virtually indefinitely, with the only reprieve being the 1 hour trial end timer or the other survivor being found/escaping.

The other survivor and the killer are both at fault here. Neither one was progressing the game so they should both be reported.

Thanks for the replies!
I do feel like it falls into a grey area. There was no farming attempt, it's more like they wanted to keep me in limbo until they could ensure the 4k. Obviously they couldn't search and keep an eye on me at the same time, so I was able to patter around and progress the game intermittently. But one time after they told me to stay off the gens, I waved them over to the hook and pointed at it, they still shook their head no and floated off. I just sighed and went back to the gen lol didn't appreciate the situation though

Wasn't me.

i don't think it's reportable, even if they trapped you in a corner as long as there is still another teammate in the match so it is end-able or whatever. i'd just wait in the center of the map and afk so the killer can take their sweet time looking for the rat, personally.

sadly this type of survivor gameplay is endorsed by the devs, but it should be a rule violation imo. improving afk crows to prevent such bullshittery would make the game so much better.

Nope that situation is exactly when killer is too greedy for 4K. Trying to work with other survivor to try kill the other is wrong. What he did should count as holding game hostage.

Unfotunately yeah it falls to grey area even the killer clearly did wrong there.

No, blocking a survivor in a corner for an extented time period is bannable, even if there are still other survivors alive (unless EGC is already active).

I suppose I can only speak for myself then.

i've seen so many posts and comments suggesting playing for hatch -by not trying to progress the game- is ok and not against the rules. if that's against rules there are way too many players waiting to get punishment, even some big streamers when they are doing "escape streaks".
and tbf i wouldn't expect one of multiple survivors getting body blocked by killer is bannable offense since the game can progress. this is their signature(?) answer to all this kind of questions.
