Should I Bring Items With Flashbang?

I'm new to Flashbang and realized that while I have a Flashbang in hand, I can't switch to other things like medkits, maps, etc. So I've been bringing toolboxes to deplete before getting my Flashbang. That way, I don't have to worry about a wasted item.

But what about Medkits? Or Maps? Etc? Why is there no way to switch to my main item? (I play on Switch. Maybe you can change items on Xbox/PS and/or PC.)

Should I just not bring other items while having Flashbang on? How do I manage having both and being able to only use one?

Thanks!!

You can, one thing i like to do is to simply bring a medkit, hide it somewhere where other survivors won't find it right at the beginning and then play with flashbangs until i need it.

It's weird that the game doesn't allow switching between items. Of particular annoyance is when doing White Glyph tomes. Once you've completed it you're carrying a mirror that you can't drop and serves no other purpose than bonus BPs if you escape. No matter what other items you brought into the trial or pick up while there, you can't use them at all or drop them so other survivors can use them.

I don't see why it hasn't been added to allow the switching of items, and in the case of White Glyphs leave it as a cosmetic only so you can use other items.
