Can someone explain to me how the knights banner work?

Sometimes when he's placing down an enemy I see that they leave behind a banner but I notice it isn't all the time cause I wanted to help my team mates to get rid of the person chasing them

How does the banner thing work? why don't they all leave behind a banner or is it just random when they do?

    When a Survivor is detected by a Guard, they will leave a banner at the point of detection after they fly over there.

    The banner isn't active until the horn sound plays, at which point a Survivor can run into the banner to despawn the Guard, and gain a brief burst of speed and endurance.

    Only the Survivor that is being chased by the Guard can pick up the banner.

    Also to add some information.

    - Flags can be used after 5 seconds or 10 if its Carnifex(Fat guy) the guard chasing.

    - If you are in chase and touch a hooked survivor, guards dissapears. Just touch not even fully unhook.

    - If you drop a pallet in chase, guards will try a new path. BUT if you vault an already dropped pallet or window guards can pass those.

    - If knight hit you, guards disapears. So if you are chased and trapped by both gor for knight, better 1 hit than 2.
