why am i not seeing xenos anymore?
is it just me? haven't went against at least one alien for a couple days in a row already. isn't he supposed to be the most played/popular killer for now? as much as i hate to go against him, it's still weird how i don't see him that often anymore.

I have not seen one since release. I went against one once and that was it. I have seen two twins so far , even one demo but no xenos...

The tail seems really bugged. Hits aren't connecting like they should if you aren't directly lined up with the front or back of the survivor hit box. Add Xeno to the list of known bugged killers.
15 -
Alien got nerfed pretty significantly. Also dealing with the flamethrowers requires a significant change in mindset and can be abused by bully squads.
25 -
he was hard nerfed because survivors complained, and his tail is bugged to hell right now. his tail can touch a survivor, and nothing will happen.
26 -
Tail attack its super bugged.
The best way i can think of how to explain it its like shooting with a curved gun.
Yeah you "shoot" but you dont understand where is the bullet going.
Same as tail attack, you launch you attack, you pierce a survivor chest and does nothing, you hit a fence 1 meter away and survivor get hit.
8 -
As others said xeno was nerfed and her tail has been bugged ever since the nerf was done. I'm not surprised, nerf new killer who also has a bug means everyone will go back to their old favs(Blight, Nurse, and Wesker).
3 -
I love using killers where their power is largely a dice roll that favors survivors.
14 -
People complained about facing to many Xenos, so he got nerfed and also got some bugs. Playing him doesn´t feels good anymore, so people stopped playing him.
22 -
They only reverted his movement penalty for missing a tail attack back to the same value on PTB.
But when doing this something happened. Now the hitbox feels kinda off and your camera gets locked in the position you hit. Because of these bugs people might be turned off from playing them or the chapter hype just died down.
(Ps. don't take advice from people who can't differentiate bugs from nerfs.😇)
6 -
xeno was takoradi released with higher movement on missed trail attacks. It got nerfed from his release version.
1 -
People got their Adept achievements and then went back to the main killer they know and love. There's a reason the top picked killers over the years doesn't change that much. While new killers will get a few people to switch mains, most head back to their old mains fairly quick unless their main gets a huge nerf or new killer is wicked strong. It's not like survivors where people switch based on looks/available cosmetics.
3 -
Let's not pretend the PTB is "extensively tested".
Consoles and epic players can't even access it, and from steam the ones with the ability to do so, most don't want to play the PTB just to have access to a singular killer in essentially early access mode.
The *real * xeno testing was the actual release date. Xeno released with a slowdown to 2.0ms on tail use + a bug.
Nobody was able to accurately provide balance opinions on xeno because his tail attack was bugged and provided *no slowdown at all*.
Now BHVR instead of fixing the bug and keeping the 2 ms slowdown decided to fix the bug , nerf xeno, and break the tail all in one patch.
All in all xeno was fun to play but survivor mains cried hard enough to get him gutted.
28 -
As others have said, the tail attack hitbox is bugged. Personally, I stopped playing Xeno until the bug is fixed.
12 -
Oh yeah he definitely got his penalty nerfed (only on LIVE version since PTB value was buffed for some reason). But we weren't able to test the buffed version on LIVE because it didn't apply correctly. So I think getting it nerfed before we even got to see how it was suppose to be wasn't too logical.
Now it's nerfed but there is another bug (lol 😭) so it actually makes him feel worse to play. But some people can't understand or differentiate how wrong his tail hitbox feels now and think that's the intended part of the nerf when nerf is only regarding miss-hit penalty speed and hitbox inaccuracy is clearly a bug.
3 -
They are bugged and nerfed. Recency bias did their work.
I'm still gonna play Xeno.
7 -
It's also difficult for people to tell if Xeno is bugged, when BHVR refuses to mark the issue as a bug. Why is this still "under review"???
5 -
The rare times I do see one, you get one opt out on first hook and one person that runs right to the killer after and gives up.
I don't know about anyone else but to me that's just boring gameplay. When people just give up at the start against a killer I'm playing it ruins the match for both sides. I'm sure there is still a handful of killer mains that love the easy 4k's but I prefer an actual match.
So, between the bugs, and upcoming nerfs and people not trying against the killer, I'm guessing people are off to other killers.

Yeah it would help if they at least acknowledged it... The tail hits feel so off now and camera view gets locked too. All weird stuff that wasn't intended or noted as nerfs. I hope for the day we can experience this Killer without those bugs. It doesn't make sense to start buffing or nerfing stuff before they're working as intended...

I don't think that his tail attack is fixed yet.
4 -
Release tail attack was bugged. Devs fixed the no cd bug AND nerfed it back to PTB cd. On top of that, another bug was introduced that makes it extremely hard to hit even at point blank distance.
3 -
I faced heaps of them at first, but after the nerfs I@'e not faced a signle one.
2 -
Their tail currently is completely broke and doesn't damage survivors very often. Waiting for a fix, I'd imagine.
Here's an example.

Dont you love it when the devs fix one thing only to break something else...honestly, I dont know many games that have this issue.
9 -
The tail's hitbox doesn't match the hitbox it should have.. Its size has been decreased for some weird reason, and the hits are about ~0.5 - 1 second delayed, and due to the lock in animations, a survivor player with quick reactions or good enough imagination to predict where could the tail go can easily dodge it.
Besides that.. Yeah, nothing else, really.
Xeno queen is the only killer I play nowadays, as Spirit got gutted with the directional audio and became completely add-on dependable.. And as somebody who never uses add-ons or items because I consider them to be crutches, I do either play Spirit and get one hook per a single match, or play Xeno and get a few hooks per a match.
I do see Xenos from time to time, but it's usually a mix of Skull Merchant ~20 minute matches where we eventually give up, Weskers and Wraiths refusing to leave the hook's ~24 meter proximity for the first ~45 seconds, and overall killers who do rely on X generator regression builds with tunneling being the only playstyle they can pull off. At that point, the game quickly loses its appeal, so I'm good with two or three matches per a day.

People screamed for nerfs and got what they wanted, that's what happend.
16 -
The famous Spaguetti code.
The change from p2p to server based and all the other engine changes. It would have been probably better to just begin from scratch.
4 -
I must be very unlucky then, I have faced 6 aliens in my last 10 games. People are definitely still playing him
1 -
Then after they get said killer nerfed they turn around and complain about how they only see the same 3 killers every match.
15 -
The survivors, they screamed.
BHVR nerfed it.
Don't complain about what you wanted!
13 -
Yes if if the killer ...
... has nothing to learn about like Knight and SM.
...is to weak like Onrio (release).
...is to complex like Singularity.
...is borring to play like Artist
Xeno is none of that. Infekt he was wished from the community for years. The only reson why he isnt played as much were the tail is very very buggy and maybe cause of the borring addons.
3 -
I haven't been able to find one to play against in weeks.
He's still fun to use but suffers from some easily applied counter.
SWF using the turrets is super annoying.
The tunnel system is confusing on maps it works well on and not worth using on maps it works poorly on.
There are spots on most maps that a survivor can sit and the tail will not hit them.
His ability to counter an efficient gen focused teams is just average or below average.
There is no reason to drop Wesker, Blight, Nurse, Oni, Spirit or whatever in that range for this.
There is little reason to swap to this from any other killer you have invested skill building in.
3 -
Xeno wasn't hard nerfed because of survivors complaining. She was reverted to PTB state due to a bug that gave her effectively no cooldown on a missed attack.
7 -
Again, Xeno wasn't nerfed. Xeno was reverted due to the missed attack cooldown being bugged. Survivors weren't making distance when Xeno whiffed a tail attack. Xeno's tail attack is now bugged in a way that's detrimental to the killer. Hopefully it gets fixed soon.
6 -
People are probably just done with xeno tbh. He's a mechanically very simple character. I personally really doubt that the overall minor revert they did on tail recovery had a lot to do with it.
1 -
Again, Xeno was bugged. The devs fixed the bug AND reverted the attack cooldown to the PTB status (which is a Nerf).
10 -
Xeno was made weaker twice since the PTB, and that is why Xeno’s pick rate has gone down so much.
It doesn’t matter why Xeno was made weaker twice. It doesn’t matter if Xeno was made weaker because of a bug fix or because of game balance reasons.
The fact that Xeno’s tail cooldown was made weaker, is a major reason for Xeno’s pick rate going down.
8 -
that wasnt a bug, that was a buff. she was buffed from 1.2 to 2.0 when she released (and survivors complained) she did however have a bug where she can hit someone with the tail and not have a speed reduction. she was nerfed back to ptb speed after two weeks I believe
1 -
What about the delay before the tail even hits?
Was this also intended, or are we encountering yet another bug in regards to the tail attack?
I have already described that within my previous response, but because I have received zero feedback and only upvotes, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to think about this.. As in, is this intended, or is the tail's hitbox and cooldown completely out of place?

I don't understand the first point.. „to be able to hit Survivors behind it“? As in, it was possible to hit survivors with the tail attack even if they weren't within the killer's POV, or .. What? I am really confused now.
If the talk attack didn't match the collision back then, I'd like to know if the current tail attack matches it.. Because it's literally quite a mess.
0 -
You could back the Xeno's ass up to a survivor and hit them while they were behind you. This no longer works.
As of today, the tail attack approximates its visual better than it did yesterday. You can still use it(or abuse it from the opposing side) to have the tail graphic go through the survivor and have no hit register.
Due to the difference in his POV and his tail hit origin in runner mode you can still hit things you can't see, sometimes.
Due to object collision you can still be unable to hit a survivor you can clearly see.
3 -
That sounds really confusing, but I do get the gist of it.
I do gotta see it for myself.. Yeah.
1 -
Yeah a fresh recode from the ground up would be amazing. Prolly fix soooooany things, and allow for new features like a trial replay system to help with reporting.
3 -
More importantly with a fresh code: we got dedicated servers. A dedicated servers should constantly be able to monitor everything that happens during a match. Anything thats fishy like hooking all 4 survivors in the first 30 seconds, or finishing all gens in 30 seconds should automatically be tracked and forwarded to the support.
Only way i see to get rid of the ridiculous amounts of hackers. Since the report system by itself is still way to complicated to use.
5 -
Alien players used and abused tail hit survivors without losing any distance, same if they miss, didn't matter. Devs fixed that issue and no one wants to play Alien anymore. Simple as that.
4 -
How can someone abuse a mechanic that has no other way to being played?
8 -
Because they spammed and played only M2 knowing there's no downside. The point is after the update I haven't see any Alien player. Maybe once. Keep that.
3 -
The tail miss is way too punishing.
The time before you can use the tail again is fine. The long cooldown for that can stay.
But being unable to M1, break a pallet, kick a gen, pick up a survivor, snuff a boon, or open a locker — let alone move at full speed — for such a long time is miserably slow.
----
I've had shots I could have taken but didn't because I knew that messing up would give the survivor massive distance. So I don't take the shot. They make it to the next loop/pallet, and the chase is 20-30 seconds longer than it would've been.
Also, this clip: https://xboxclips.co/nos37/239f3a14-ab3a-4c87-87b6-3349e0219d51
6 -
No one knew if it was intentional or a bug for the first days. Then the devs fixed the bug and on top reversed the tail attack cd to the PTB version + introduced a new bug that made hiting a tail attack very hard.
So of course people stopped playing Alien.
5 -
Also, at this point, even if the tail hits would register properly, a missed tail attack has basically the same consequences as any other killer power, yet ALSO can be taken away by flame turrets. I really don't understand the design choice at this point; either make the tail significantly stronger then other killer powers, but with the caveat that it can be completely canceled and taken away by survivors, or make it in the same ballpark then other powers, but let the player have it up at all times, only resetting the runner mode after picking a survivor up.
Right now it feels so unrewarding to play the Alien: the tail has a big punishment for missing, its inaccurate and very inconsistent to hit with and on top of all that the power can be taken away by the survivors for basically the whole chase. Imagine if Huntresses hatches sometimes register at the survivors hit box, sometimes on the modell and if a survivor enters a locker, you can't reload at that locker for 30s, its something like that.
Add to that the sinking feeling that BHVR is too afraid to release a genuinely strong killer. The last well designed killer was Wesker, and a lot of survivors are kinda sick to be seeing him. Singularity was promised to be the killer that should be able to enter the higher tiers and shake things up a bit, and after that the PTB promised us the Xenomorph, but both were significantly nerfed in ways that make them very unrewarding to play, unless you sink a lot of hours into them, while apparently survivors love to verse them for the counterplay they offer. But this counterplay often leaves the killer without a power, which is the hight of "unfun design" for killers.
