do you guys think this game needs to be more polished and optimized for controller players?
I moved to PC DBD and i feel so sorry for the players who suffer playing with controller because this game isn't well optimized for controller players and believe me when i say this because i have experienced both platforms and I can confirm this game is developed NATIVELY for mouse and keyboard. I hope someday the developers maybe looking into optimizing this game more for controller players?? i'm surprised no one really spoke about this issue.

Console players complain about this all the time. We at least want dead zone and response curve settings, and BHVR doesn't even give us that after years of asking for it.

I think controller is fine as survivor (I actually prefer it) but with killer M&K makes a massive difference.

I think BHVR should REALLY look into optimizing this game for controller players AND maybe making the game more accessible for players with disabilities?? but I definitely would love to see them making this game more fun to play on controller cuz a lot of the player base also come from console so they deserve the good experience

The game needs to be more polished in general. There is no reason why my game should drop HUGE frames when i make a quick turn with specs that are WAY above the "recommended"

I love controller. I have never played K and M and I'm old so I don't want to. I do alright on Switch with the pro controller but we need the game optimized for these events omg. 5 FPS.

i love the nintendo switch version of the game a lot but had to drop it due to the FPS. but fingers crossed they optimize this game for controller players

So you moved from Switch to PC? Or did you play on other platforms as well?

i bought DBD on all platforms but the most platform i played on console was xbox 2nd was ps5 then 3rd switch. eventually i got a good paying job to afford a pc and its a complete night and day difference playing on mouse and keyboard and controller. even now they made pc support 120 fps which is pretty crazy that consoles dont have. i just hope that controller gets better for u guys because its the least BHVR could do to improve. i mean even on pc controller isnt great but u still get the 120 FPS advantage with a controller AND u get to play PTB so there is a slight advantage to use controller on pc but it isnt that amazing when u compare this game to other games there are games out there that are so well optimized for controller it actually makes more sense to use controller than mouse in keyboard in some cases for some games which is baffling when u think about

first of all we need basic controller settings. As already mentioned dead zones, response curves.
then aim assist or whatever it’s called needs to be adjusted to not let controller players hit the air/the stone/the vault behind you when you clearly lunge at survivors. Also not sure if related or not but lunges in general do not work on controllers. When I first switched I thought there was a bug giving you base Coup de Grace
then of course console (and general) optimization would be great. But… it feels like this seems to be too unrealistic to dream for

I only use lunge attacks because it feels half assed not to imo. No problem on controller for me there
2 -
I also used lunge attacks on controller. Also though without problem. Then I switched to M&K and realized most of the lunges on controller get canceled way too early

I don't mind on survivor as much except I cannot loop for my life. I feel like spinning is a lot easier on keyboard but it takes skill either way. For killer it depends Blight who I have just started playing for fun today is from what I've heard easier on M&K. He can be extremely difficult on controller. Controller players are overall at a disadvantage as the 2nd best killer is designed more for M&K.

100% agree with this. hopefully the community manager or someone from BHVR see's this post and eventually they work to improve the controller experience for this game. it's a win/win for all PC and console.

this statement is perfectly correct i can confirm. mouse u can up the sensitivity to a way speed that goes beyond the limited in game 100 max setting. so yeah u are right

It's not cheating?

i dont think so nope. many pc players use colored filters to get a color advantage in game but me personally i dont because it makes your pc more hot and could affect the performance so i stay away from that but most people dont care

Of course, but it is not like controller players will ever have the freedom of those that M&K. More optimising is always good but no amount of polishing will make Trickster and Huntress great to play on console. Not without some kind of aim lock / auto aim, which would be unfair.
I do hope they'll put some more work into optimising the game on platforms but we need to set realistic expactions of what is actually achievable.

I mean… we have ‚aim assist‘ which actively hinders controller players more than it helps them. How is that fair? Also Tricksters recoil does not need to be this punishing on controller.

oh I can assure you Mandy already has seen plenty of my feedback regarding controllers here on the forums. I am like a broken record regarding this.
thing is, there are obviously not enough people asking for it, thus being a low priority. I guess we have to wait for content creators to use it similarly to colorblind feature or now fov slider to mobilize the masses (though sadly that also always involves those being way too destructive with their criticism…)

It definitely holds you back. In the same way I found playing on the Switch held me back to a degree. Once I moved fully to the PS5 it was surprising how much smoother the gameplay was. For example, hitting a great skill check on the Switch was a crapshoot for me. I can hit them perfectly on the PS5 though. I imagine moving to a PC would be a similar experience.

honestly i think a lot of the people who play this on pc dont care about controller players. i personally do because i have been in every controller players shoes before and totally understand the drawbacks of playing on it
2 -
Consolers have been asking for all of this for years and years now.
The thing that gets me is the continued releasing of killers that play objectively worse with a controller. It keeps happening. And that's not even taking into consideration frame drops issues etc.

I still don't understand why consoles don't have kb/m support yet. Why is it that playstation supports a freaking VR headset before it supports KB/M? It seems like a pretty simple thing. You can plug in a keyboard to type with, but not to play with.

I think it needs to be more polished period. No high ping allowed, faster bug fixes, less bugs, less crashing my entire extremely high end computer.
More quality of life things released, fix huntress massive hit box of her ace defying the laws of physics and turning at a 90 degree angle to hit me around a corner.
Make the dedicated servers actually dedicated, no lag favoring killers.
I've been dying so much lately due to the female vault being broken, it's been days and it's not fixed.
Hire GMs to handle hackers.
I can go on and on, there is a lot of things this game needs, as it stands now it is not optimized. I enjoy the game, I really do, but I can't lie, it has a lot of issues.
