DBD Positivity Thread
I understand that in a game as complex as DBD passions can run high for everyone. But at the end of the day this tells me that we all love this game and want it to be the best game it can be; which brings me to my topic.
What are some of the things you love most about DBD? I love the quirky culture that has emerged from the game like when Survivors and Killers find respect for each other in various ways. I have had games where I am playing Killer and a Survivor totally impresses me with their chase game. It’s so good that even after catching them I will let them go so that we can keep playing the chase game. There are times as a Survivor that I will nod to other Survivors and they will nod back. It sincerely brightens my day.
There’s so many examples of wholesomeness in this game (ironic considering it’s a horror game). What are some of your absolute favorite things about this game we all love so much?
PS: Some of you may have difficulty with this and want to vent your frustrations, and your feelings are valid! You are a part of this community too! I know this comes from a place about caring about the game. We are a community that shares our love of the game. Let’s all help bring each other up and make this the best community we can together.

Nothing I loved about DbD remains. Those funny moments don't exist anymore. Wish I could have your optimism but I don't think this will get better any time soon.

I’m so sorry to hear that. What changes would make you love the game again? Like I said we are all a part of this community including you! Do you have any best memories? 😊

We like the art and game play. The trials are just similar enough to know what to do while just random enough that we can't fully predict everything (though ppl are trying really hard to be predictable). And the art is lovely. Even if we don't agree with some of the choices, it atleast looks good.

I love when I'm Steve or Jonathan in SoloQ and a player changes to Nancy and we both run bloody Partystreamers and become SWFs. Or, if I'm Nancy and the Demogorgon is the killer, we usually become friends post match.

I love when survivors or killers are playful without taunting, I don't mind taunting at all but it always makes me smile to nod at eachother above windows, have survivors come bring me gifts or stop the chase to pet Maurice or show me something.
I remember having lots of fun with a Wesker after I disappeared using plot twist behind a window while staring straight at him.
The event is really great for fun stuff like that, I went against 4 Feng Mins yesterday and it was one of the best game I had in a long time, we played normally (borderline sweaty) but everytime the void opened we went in it and fooled around until it closed.

personally i love the people (both the devs and players) as well as people who just play the game for fun like its just a game and many know that

I'm having an overall better time in general playing the game than i do being on this god forsaken forum that i've come to detest for the most part, doesn't help that i've also come to complete and utterly ######### despise a growing number of users on here with a burning passion as well.
Only reason i even bother still coming back here is mostly checking for dev replies.

If there is one thing I still love about DBD is how the game used to be.
There isn't anything left in the game for me to enjoy, but memory is something that no patch can take away and let me tell ya, I loved this game in the past.
Old DBD was easily one of my favorite games and I don't think that will ever change.

I have to love it for truly igniting my passion for birds.
(just this afternoon, i drew this in ms paint)

I love that it's two games in one, each with dozens of different combinations and ways that you can play. It's also kind of insane how many horror legends have been added to the game over time. It's truly become a "museum of horror".
I do miss the feeling of fear that I used to get when I first started playing, though. They've faded for me now unfortunately, but while they lasted they were a better adrenaline rush than watching any horror movie.
Thankfully, It will never stop being fun to run at Survivors with a chainsaw as Bubba, or give players a fright with a well executed Michael Myers jump scare.

Here is the story of the cutest and most heroic Leon I ever met:
So I start my first chase on Erye when I spot him standing in the middle of the main road at the farther end. True P0 rookie. He's staring at me like he was in Western duel. I'm curious what he wants, so I drop my chase and start walking straight towards him.
He's not budging, but immediately drops the flashbang at his feet. It blows up out of range (I never even knew it had a range). Leon doesn't falter - he whips out the flashlight, aiming at me menacingly. Naturally I turn away without slowing down and get my hit.
Of course he survived the trial. He even got a flashlight save later - I only had to strafe a bit to correct his aim. :]

The art is lovely ❤️

That’s very wholesome I’m not gonna lie.

I couldn’t agree more. Those are my favorite interactions. One time I was playing Trapper on Haddonfield and a Survivor and I started playing house in one of the houses lmao. I would go to the kitchen and start hitting the oven with his weapon and they would go and pretend to turn the knobs and cook lol. The shenanigans went on all around the level.
Thank you for bringing up your examples. They reminded me of really nice memories.

You’re the best, seriously.

I get it, sometimes it can get to be too frustrating. It’s nice you enjoy the game, I’m sure it would be fun playing with someone who cares about the game.

Can I ask you to share a nice memory you have of the game?

Wow nice picture! You have an artistic eye. Your avatar makes a lot of sense! Do you happen to enjoy running “Spies From the Shadows”?

We’re kindred spirits. I feel the exact same way. And Bubba still honestly scares the crap out of me as Survivor!

This is perfect. Wow, amazing. 😊😊😊

Yeah, I have a lot of Nancy friends now. I always run my bloody Partystreamers and Terrormisu with a Nancy. I still have over 400 ofvthem on Steve just for her ❤️

I find I don't really need it as killer.
that said...i really should.
if only to have bird silhouettes appear on my screen at random
1 -
That sounds a bit sad.
These moments still exist - only that you have to create them.
Newer players are so scared and cute.
I think as longtime players you should try to make fun with newer players. You can certainly play a bit nicer if you see the surv or killer is new. So they don´t feel completely frustrated from the beginning and never get back to DBD again.
I will never understand when clearly superior survs or killers completely stomp beginners - which happens frequently with the mmr...

I like when a survivor has a practiced way to evade a killer's ability.
I always want the game to last forever, with just that repeated exchange, whatever it might be at whatever object the survivor is using.
It becomes like an enjoyable obsession that lasts until the match ends. I don't care about the outcome of the match, just that one player and the geometry they are using.
That's unique to this game and appreciated.

I love how altrusitic my SoloQ teamates have been recently how they always try to save everyone, take protection hits particularly since I've been going up against a lot of tunneling killers recently.
2 -
For me it's the all the different characters in one game. Where else will you see Laurie Strode, Ada Wong, Ash Williams and Nicholas Cage teaming up against Freddy Krueger, Nemesis, Leatherface, Pyramid Head or Xenomorph? Where else will you see some random guy in a white shirt come out of a locker to teabag Amanda Young? Where else will you see Ghostface chasing a random girl in a pink bunny sweater through Haddonfield and teabag her after slashing his knife across her back before taking a selfy with her, where some random dude shows up to pop his butt into the picture? That is all real. These are all things that happen in this "horror" game. 😂
Also, I like all the little things you can do in this game to throw off your opponent. Pretend to go left, then go right, turn 360°, teabag and DH before dropping a pallet. I'm pretty sure there is no other game where this is considered crazy good gameplay. 😄 Killers have their own equivalents.
Some of DBD's older realms have a distinct feeling to them. As much as I dislike some of the McMillans gameplaywise, I cannot deny that they do have a special kind of feeling to them. Same for the Azarov's maps. Even after their reworks they kept some of their original flair. Sadly, this is getting more and more rare as BHVR rework maps. The new maps all look kind of generic to me. Like they could be in any other game and I wouldn't notice, that they should be in DBD.
The community despite all its downs is also pretty cool. So many passionate people about a game that we all love and hate at the same time. But there are also many good things that come out of this community. Like Burger King Myers, Shirtless Myers, Locker Dwight (god, they are cute), Bunny Feng and the other many, many, many memes. Even the discussions on this forum, which for the most part are very reasonable.
I also love these games, when both sides are about even in terms of skill and loadout and can all agree on a good match. Sometimes I'll have the most wholesome post game interactions with a bit of genuine advice here and there as well as some nice words after a tough game. I try to spread that same kind of positivity but of course it won't always work or be understood in the way I meant it. All the better when it does.

That kind of thread will not be tolerated 🤓

Blight and Wesker are fun to play this way against huh?

I used to be the Survivor that would escape and leave my teammates behind lol. But you’re right, teammates are super altruistic. It’s inspirational really because it makes me want to help them survive no matter what now.

I've had some wholesome moments, but one in particular is on my mind right now...
I was Rebecca going against Nemesis in RPD. The match went normally until two teammates were dead. Nemesis found me and I dropped down a hole, ran and vaulted through a window. I turned around to see Nemesis just standing there staring from afar and then he left.
I worked on the last gen while Nemesis would occasionally come in, kick it, and leave again. He knew I was there, too, but kept leaving me. Finally he found the other teammate and killed her as I finished the last gen. Nemesis continued to stare at me from afar. Then he took out the zombies that were getting in my way and then opened the gate, even leaving the gate so I could leave. Of all the people to spare, spare the S.T.A.R.S. member, I thought. I've been shipping Rebecca and Nemesis ever since, writing fanfics about them and everything. XD
And interestingly, this match happened one year ago today. XD

I can tell you truly do love this game 😊

People like you are good for the game.
90% of my matches are against sweat lords who immediately start hard tunneling and slugging everyone.
1 -
Gosh, I live for those games. Thank you so much for sharing!

I forgot to mention, that match sits in my highlight collection on Twitch, along with all the other "Nice Killer" games I've saved, so anyone can watch those at anytime. XD

I love when I'm on a gen/cleansing a totem/whatever, and another survivor runs past and 'smacks' my behind and then runs off. It usually happens when I'm playing Thalita 🤣 it makes me laugh. I love tbag greetings. I love when the killer is good at pressure and I can't get anything done, so I point at them to go away and they do so lmao
1 -
Lmao! I’ve never heard of that! Pointing the Killer away and they listen! Lol that’s hilarious.

Its fun for me to miss bounds with Wesker, especially when its due to me failing to flick the mouse at the end, I want to keep trying.
Blight is fun to bring to short wall objects where both sides can see each other and try to either hug them our bounce around them until someone messes up badly.
I like Xeno and pallet approach angles+TIming.
That sort of stuff.

Some players have a good sense of humour lol I did it to a Legion not long ago and not only did he leave, but he gave me hatch later

Oh wow for reals? How cool! Thanks for the content! 😊

I simply enjoy Dead By Daylight for all it's additions and healthy balance changes, but as someone who started playing 2016, earning Legacy and all that stuff - there is something nostalgic about old Dead by Daylight, a feeling no game every gave me and I will love it for ever. Lowkey gave me one of the greatest times in my Life. And I will die on that hill but old DbD looked lowkey better lol
Here are some videos for people who are confused and want to see old DbD:
Bugs and Glitches, Old Nurse, Old Billy, Old Wraith, Infinite, 72Hrs Moonwalk, Old Survivor Gameplay and even more Gameplay!
And my favourite back then:

I remember how scary the game felt with the older graphics. There was always this bleak feeling of despair. The Killers looked especially terrifying in the lighting. Don’t get me wrong I totally love the current color shades because I am a slave for beautiful color schemes, but I definitely get where you are coming from.
Nice avatar btw. I just watched the original 1998 Ring last night. Poor little Yoichi!

no you are you made a thread for pure positivity despite the chances of somebody being negative you must be a really optimistic person
1 -
Oh a positivity thread? That’s rare here. I like.
gotta point out BHVR as a company at this present time. While sure, they have the priorities not well set imo, the company per se seems to be a very good employer, especially with the gaming industry going through some tough times with layoffs BHvR is not one of those. They have presumably very good working conditions, work-life-balance, etc.
I wish the games direction was more dev-driven than management/sales-drive (at least it seems like it at times). But yeah. Overall, it seems very good.
1 -
Absolutely. Of course despite nothing truly being perfect it really does feel that the company is in a good place right now. It’s thoughtful that you think about the people who make this game for all of us to enjoy.
