Has anyone managed to increase resolution scaling after the Alien update?
I've already asked this back when the Alien update came, I tried to change it the way I was advised, but it doesn't work. If I had a 4k screen this wouldn't be an issue. But with an ultrawide, like the one I currently have, the only real way to play the game is to use a stretched 16:9 resolution, in this case 2560x1440 stretched to 21:9 aspect ratio. Don't worry, my FOV is not increased, its the same as yours. With the games own "ultrawide setting" you get black bars on top and bottom and you're actually at a disadvantage.
Anyways, the game looks horribly blurry at resolution scale at 100%, I have plenty of performance to spare. But no matter what I do, the value won't increase anymore like it used to before the Alien update. I can decrease it from the games settings, changing values in GameUserSettings does not do a damn thing.

Full HD is 1920x1080
2560x1440 is 2K
Both are 16:9, not ultra wide. You need to set resolution to 2560 or 2K. With 1920 it will get blurry.

Yeah, I explained it all in the post. The game's own "ultrawide support" is trash, you get black bars at the top and bottom of the screen. My current resolution is 2560x1440p stretched to 21:9. But that's beside the point. Even if I could enable 3440x1440p (monitors native resolution) on DBD it would still be too blurry to me because of the games bad anti-aliasing. And like I said, I have plenty of performance to spare. The game can only do 120fps.
The issue here, is that before the Alien update I had my resolution scale at 145%, and the game looked good. Now its at 100% and I can't get it above that at all.

First of all, you don't necessarily need to stretch the game to fit your monitor at a 16:9 resolution, you can use the fullscreen mode and set your monitor to render black bars at the sides, displaying the game at 16:9. This should already help make the game less blurry (and less disproportional). You can also disable the Temporal Anti-Aliasing (TAA), which is the culprit behind some of the blurriness. NVIDIA and Reshade filters can sharpen your game further.
I haven't used the widescreen support setting, why would BHVR make it reduce the FOV? I thought it's there simply to render the game in 16:9 on ultrawide monitors, even in windowed fullscreen.
Lastly, I think the issue you might be running into with using an above-1 resolution scaling is that the config variables for that have changed, and you may have had your config file on read-only mode, or are tinkering with the old, left-over setting. It used to be "ScreenResolution", it is now ScreenRenderSize.

My monitor is a QD-OLED, so playing at 16:9 with black bars is not an option. I know all about the .ini file read-only boxes and the like. Like I said before the alien update it worked like it should. I was playing at stretched 2560x1440 at 145% resolution scale. Game looked great.
ScreenRenderSize? Haven't heard about that, I'll try it out today and I will give you an update.

Nope. No matter what I do. I un-checked the "read only" (it has always worked with it checked), set the ScreenRenderSize to same as the desired resolution scale percentage, still nothing. Still at 100%. Don't understand what's the issue. Can you get it to go above 100%?

Black bars on the side aren't a problem for QD-OLED display burn in, as the pixels are literally turned off. As others have said go into your respective gpu's control panel and set dsr factors higher for a better upscaled resolution

Something interesting I noticed, if I un-check the "read only" box, ScreenRenderSize resets itself to 100. I tested it out, other changes, like hud adjusting in the .ini file do work, its just the resolution scale value changing that does absolutely nothing.

Sorry but I only need advice about the resolution scale issue. If you use an OLED monitor with black bars enough, it causes uneven pixel wear and it becomes noticeable. DSR, and DLDSR are not an option with this game, since this game clearly has an issue with ultrawide users. If I enable my native ultrawide resolution, my field of view from the bottom, and top of the screen is limited. The only way to do this properly is to increase the resolution scaling. I have played this game for years. Until the Alien update, it worked flawlessly.

In the process of BHVR transitioning some of these settings to the in-game menu, a few things have unfortunately been lost. I noticed this due to having to now use external means to limit my framerate to anything that isn't one of the given values in the menu. The resolution scaling not accepting values outside of the menu's range seems to be another such unfortunate change.
I had used higher-than-100% resolution scaling myself in the past, I know it worked and now it doesn't. Maybe I can figure something out, but for now I guess you are just out of luck. Especially if DbD doesn't support driver-side DSR and the like.
For the time being, there's filters to help with the blurriness like I said. And disabling TAA if you haven't already. You can also play DbD in a 16:9 window instead, then you won't have black bars to worry about and the game will still be sharp.

I didn't see your comment back then. Not using all of the screen is not an option with an OLED. You will cause uneven pixel wear, and it gets noticeable. And DSR/DLDSR are not options for this game, since like I said, the only way to play this game properly on an ultrawide is stretched 16:9 resolution. The highest 16:9 resolution my monitor supports is 2560x1440, since the vertical resolution is 1440p. The forum hosts themselves claimed that this is a "technical issue, use Ask The Community instead". I don't think they know what they're talking about.

And I didn't see yours because the forum sometimes just randomly doesn't notify one of as much.
If you have DbD in a window, the rest of your screen is still displaying things, so it shouldn't pose the same "uneven wear" issue that black bars might.

The window itself will cause burn in then, that is not an option with an oled panel. It'd be much easier if the resolution scale option worked like it used to.
