The second iteration of 2v8 is now LIVE - find out more information here: https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/kb/articles/480-2v8-developer-update

It should be illegal to sell this game in its current state

Bugs, cheaters, non existent balance, server issues, this game can barely run on consoles, PC issues, terrible maps, promises they didn't deliver, and more. How is this game allowed to thrive for so long?

Bugs and cheaters are pretty normal for a Life Service game and there have been definitely worse times for DbD in both regards. Still, sure, Quality Assurance and anti-cheat measures could and should be higher prioritized.

As to balance - that’s actually not true, compared to all other games that where trying DbD has shown to be the better balanced one. Yeah, matchmaking isn’t perfect, but there is not one side clearly favoured over the other, you can see either stomping the other - based on skill levels, coordination of surv team, RNG, and carried by unbalanced perks (that get really constant changes)

I agree on the console optimization problem. Specifically the switch version should never have made it live imo. I think it’s better on current gen consoles though?

server issues I can’t say I have seen too much problems? Sure few weeks ago there was this issue but I think that got fixed, no?

also, which promises that didn’t get delivered to you mean (outside of console optimization and switch cross progression - 2 big points that they at least have addressed and stated while it didn’t come as promised)

Haven’t seen those mentioned by OP? And i guess you mean loading times on last gen consoles? Am not aware they are so bad on PC?

Half of those things are just issues you'd expect in a live service game (I have personally seen bugs, cheaters, and server issues in multiple other games I've played), and the remaining issues are deeply subjective (poor balance, bad maps, and whatever "promises they didn't deliver" means).

DBD isn't substantially worse than other live service games in any of these regards. Saying it should be illegal to sell the game in "this state" is pretty extreme, but even assuming that's exaggerating for effect, I don't personally see what the core of this issue is.

I guess running badly on consoles is a pretty fair critique, especially for the Switch version, but the post isn't just talking about that so I'd hesitate to assume that's the core of the issue.

Bugs can be annoying but cheaters are problem for any live game. You just can't escape from it , you will see them here and there. But at least they are banning them.

Whenever i report someone who was cheating, they are getting ban. That's good enough for me.

The devs are constantly trying to improve the game, and they have been successful.

OP says “nonexistent balance”. God forbid they ever experienced old DBD. The game is incredibly balanced looking back at its roots… devs have done an awesome job.

I know that and I agree with your opinion about that, but I just think that the game is still quite far from "balanced", and I just want them to speed up little bit.

I hear you. But I think the challenge is in that it’s asymmetrical. It’s not so simple. But I hear you.

The game is not in such a terrible spot, let's be honest. Does DBD have issues? Of course. But the devs are working on keeping this game alive and so far they have succeeded. Find me a game nowadays that doesn't have any bugs. It's pretty much impossible to write more than 10 lines of code without the chance of something going awry. And DBD has more than 10 lines of code. I'm pretty certain about that.

The game's balance is also not quite so bad. There are outliers of course but mostly it's fine. It's an asymmetrical game and the devs have nowhere else to look to because DBD is fairly unique. It's not like your average FPS game, where you have a douzen different games with the same mechanics and can copy some of that. Still, the game has become a lot more fair in terms of balance.

You aren't completely wrong though about optimisation. That has been an issue for a long time and I wish the devs would focus a bit more on that part. A new chapter every 3 months is nice but not as much, when some of us can barely play the game as is.

Maps have never been BHVR's strength. Some of them look fantastique but are an absolute nightmare to play on. Eyrie of Crows is stunning but after the 10th match I would rather have a good game there. Same goes for almost all of the new maps. They have their trouble of hitting the sweet spot with all things fair. At least they are willing to make adjustments though, so against my better judgement I still believe they will fix the most problematic maps and make them more enjoyable overall.

yall so dramatic. "Can barely run on consoles"? What ancient ass console have you got LOL. It runs fine on mine. I've barely came up against server issues or bugs so i dunno. Maybe it's just you? Lol How can you tell the difference between having an issue with the server and going against a bug?

…And I should have figured out this one thing that wasn’t mentioned and doesn’t really get mentioned often by the community at all?

The Switch. Isn’t really ancient. Also poorly optimized on Last gen consoles which isn’t a secret and even got acknowledged by BHVR.

    you barely get bugs?

you don’t know the difference between bugs and server issues?

and you say the others are the problem?!!

    1. I played on switch for a very long time, yes it's poorly optimised but in my opinion it doesn't mean that it "barely runs". It's fine for what it is and it's expected on a console such as that.
    2. That is correct. I seldom see bugs. Or clearly I just don't care enough because I only play the game now and again to unwind and don't worry about minor things like that.
    3. Obviously I do know the difference. But you can't tell me you know with 100% certainty that particular effects you see in game are down to maybe a new bug or a very recent blippy server. It's unrealistic to characterise niche issues as one or the other beyond glaringly obvious server or bug issues without hard logs.
    4. Where did I say other people were a problem?

    Sounds like you're projecting.

    1. i played on Switch too. It barely runs. The graphics are really ugly. Performance is bad, input is super laggy. I don’t know if anything changed here though - I tried it I guess in the first few months after release and never touched it again since cross progression hasn’t come.
    2. There is plenty of bugs, some gamebreaking stuff resulting in killswitches as well. Good for you that you see them seldom. And they have gotten better since RE chapter 1/Twins chapter. Those were dark times. But there is still plenty of bugs.
    3. No I can’t tell 100 % but there is also many bugs that are obviously not server/lag related whatsoever.
    4. uhm. In your comment? „yall so dramatic“ and „Maybe it’s just you“ while addressing „yall“ so presumably not just OP..

What exactly am I projecting here?

I didn’t even agree with OP on many points to begin with.
