Do you think people should be able to have fun at others expense?

So I know this sounds bad but hear me out I'm not sure where I stand yet but I saw a post about someone saying that tunelling makes them enjoy the game more. Tunelling for me anyways sucks all the fun and joy out of the game for survivor. As killer I find it extremely boring. Camping as well which isn't as bad anymore. Interested to hear others opinions.

I honestly don't care at this point.

I am playing few games , if i have fun i continue. If i don't, i call it a day.

And non-tunneller killers are almost not exists. Like every game killer will tunnel me or someone else. And there is nothing survivors can use to stop this. So it's better to rush your objective as well.

I know it's boring but game turned to that.

I know not every killer tunnels and I have significantly reduced my hours on dbd. I know there are a lot more competitive people out there now. I just felt it was an interesting discussion.

All i can say is according to the devs, tunneling is a strategy of the game. So they basically support it. Some killers do it later, others do it right at 5 gens.

And honestly, it got to the point where i accepted that they wont do anything about it. Which is why i just equip otr and ds mainly on my build. I feel really bad for the ppl who get turned off by tunneling, myself included, and dont even want to play the game anymore afterwards. So i just move on tbh

It's a balance. You weigh your enjoyment against the feelings of another person and see which comes out on top. If I'm not going to get much enjoyment from something and it will really upset someone else, then I probably wouldn't do it.

There are limitations to this kind of thinking though. I won't give people free wins if that is the only thing they care about. But for example, killers hate flashlights, so I don't bring them with me into the trial. I'm not giving up much in exchange for the killer not getting triggered. So it feels like a reasonable trade to me. It's the same reason I don't tunnel as killer. Winning isn't important enough for me to disregard a survivors feelings about being tunneled, so I don't do it.

I too have reduced my hours because the game play is just not fun anymore and like was said the devs seem they don't care. Tunneling is just about every game and survivors spend more time in lockers or doing the bare minimum just so they can escape. More killers are weaving in between the anti camp line. The game has no chase anymore and your constantly losing progress as survivor. Being killer is way to easy or you end up with a gen rushing squad, which whatever you can't win them all. People on Facebook have openly admitted to using subtle hacks and not gotten caught and it would be so simple for the Devs to put simple codes to stop them but they would rather put out new cosmetics instead.

For instance 3 days in a row 2 hours of play didn't win once and was tunneled out each game. There is no fun in that. Not a skill issue either these killers all stand at the edge of that little line and tunnel every single person out.

This is my approach as well. If I do bring flashlights it is only for flashlight saves and no background player. As killer flashlighting at dropped pallets annoys me as it is completly pointless and seems to be done to annoy the killer. t-bagging annoys me to the point where all hell breaks loose. Anything that annoys me I don't inflict on others.

    I think there's a limit.

What that limit is greatly depends on the person.

It's a PvP game, so inherently the fun part of the game is designed to be 'at the other teams expense'.

But there's a point somewhere between "I'm playing for fun" and "my only goal is to maximize someone's misery or ruin their day" where it kinda stops being reasonable.

currently the only 2 things qualifying as "that" are being camped in basement and map offerings, imo and both should be removed from the game.

It's a requirement of PvP games that some people have fun at the expense of others. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't strive to minimise the expense.

I'd say as a general rule you're probably not a very nice person if you have fun because it's at other people's expense. However "fun" is very subjective and it's probably impossible for everyone to have fun at nobody's expense.

For example: "bully squads", the expression is commonly used because killers often don't have fun them, but those people are literally just having fun with their friends, their goal isn't to ruin the killer's fun they just don't take it into account. Same goes for anyone who enjoys sweaty game and gets matched against casual players who won't have fun one bit.

On the other hand cheaters who hold players hostage for hours or even face-campers and killers who bleed you out are probably having fun because they're jerks and not because they think doing nothing but stare at a survivor dying or a streamer tabbing out is peak entertainment.

I don't enjoy being tunneled myself, so I don't do it when I play killer. Nothing more to it.
